The event will begin with an impressive opening ceremony followed by performances from various states representing India's rich culture and heritage through music and dance.

Namaste Canada has become a very successful annual event, the 4th in succession since its inception in 2016. A wide array of dances and music from the different states of India will be presented and performed by resident Indian Diaspora in cooperation with the local Indo-Canadian Associations and Cultural Societies on a voluntary basis to present this very spectacular experience of Incredible India to all communities in B.C. The objective of this annual event is to celebrate together and bring awareness of India's rich vibrant culture and heritage to further continue to strengthen the flourishing ties between India and Canada and all other communities. The various dances represent old folklores and stories woven into unique dance forms. The wide range of classical and folk dances are specific to their different regions, local festivals, auspicious occasions or change of seasons. Some dances are slow, gentle, elegant and graceful, while others are fast and vigorous. Each dance depicts stories of India through stunning live performances and visuals that will mesmerize the audiences! A memorable event not to be missed!

Cultural Heritage - Festivals of India Bonderam Festival (August 24, 2019) The feast of Bonderam is celebrated on the fourth Saturday of August every year at Divar Island, 12-km from Panjim. The name Bonderam revolves around the involvement of flags which in itself is an interesting story. Frequent disputes which occurred between two wards (section of the village) - Piedalda and Sao Mathias - over property matters often led to bloody duels, and sometimes death. Subsequently, the Portuguese introduced a system of demarcation of boundaries with flags of various nations. Athachamayam Festival (August) Athachamayam is a cultural fiesta which provides one the rare opportunity to witness almost all the folk art forms of Kerala. It is a grand celebration which marks the beginning of the ten-day Onam Festival. Every year on the Atham asterism of the Malayalam month of Chingam (roughly August/September), Thripunithura, near Kochi, bears witness to this legendary ceremony which commemorates the victory of the Raja (King) of Kochi. There is a magnificent procession representing that of the King and his entourage. It is accompanied by caparisoned elephants, floats, musical ensembles and a variety of folk art forms.
