Celebrating 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji... (November 12, 2019) On the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti on 12 Nov 2019 and in continuation of the celebration of 550th Prakash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev ji, a special kirtan-path and day long prayers were held, both at the Khalsa Diwan Society’s Gurdwara, Ross Street (Vancouver), and at York Centre (Surrey). Consul Mr. H Venkatachalam, attended both the prayer services on this auspicious occasion.

Celebrating 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji... (November 12, 2019) Prakash Gurupurab celebrations to mark the 550th anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji were celebrated widely across Vancouver and its neighboring areas on 12th November, 2019. Gurudwara Nanak Niwas in Richmond and its parent organization – Indian Cultural Center of Canada – marked the celebrations with a large number of members of the community attending the function and the langar in the evening. Indian Consulate was represented by Mr. Manjish Grover, Consul (Commerce & Culture) who conveyed the good wishes of the Consul General, the Indian Consulate and the people of India to the functionaries of the Indian Cultural Center of Canada. The event was attended by BC Premier Hon’ble John Horgan, Defence Minister Harjit Sajjan, Dy. Speaker Raj Chouhan, MLA Jinny Sims and other elected representatives of the BC Government. Dignitaries speaking at the occasion reflected on the importance of teachings of Guru Nanak Dev ji not only on our personal lives but on humanity at large.

Consular Camps (November 10, 2019) Two teams of officers from Consulate visited Calgary and Prince George cities and organized Consular Camps there on 10 November 2019. In Calgary, life certificates for pensioners were attested and in Prince George, all consular services were granted to service seekers which included visitors from neighboring cities too. A total of 549 consular services were granted by the visiting two teams of six consular officers in these both cities.

India Art Festival (November 14-17, 2019) This modern and contemporary art fair aims to provide a cultural bridge between Indian artists, art galleries, art collectors and connoisseurs. The artworks on display will include paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations, photographs, and video and digital art by over 400 artists. Seascapes, landscapes, rural and urban scenarios, and abstracts will all be featured. Entry is free, and various workshops and panel discussions will also take place.
