Consulate News Inviting 'Expressions of Interest' for Namaste Canada - 2019

Greetings from the Consulate General of India, Vancouver. 2. The Consulate is inviting 'Expressions of Interest' from all Indian Associations/Societies who wish to perform/partner in ‘Namaste Canada 2019’. The following may please be noted in this regard: •

Only dance and musical performances [preferably in group] will be accepted for Namaste Canada 2019;

Only one item per Association, which has not been performed earlier, with duration of 5-7 minutes will be accepted;

3. All Indian Associations/Societies wishing to perform in NC 2019 may please submit their preferred 'Form of Performance' [at least two or three forms] latest by 15 April 2019. Click on “Expression of Interest” to submit. (Please do not send submission through email as it will not be considered). Associations/Societies that have not partnered with the Consulate earlier also need to fill up “Proforma for participating organisations” form and send to IndiaCulsec@Telus.Net.

ICCR World Sanskrit Award – 2018 The prestigious ICCR 'World Sanskrit Award' was presented by the External Affairs Minister, Smt. Sushma Swaraj on March 06, 2019 at New Delhi to an eminent Sanskrit scholar from Vancouver, Canada, Prof. Ashok Narhar Aklujkar to recognize his outstanding contribution to Sanskrit language and literature. Prof. Ashok Narhar Aklujkar is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Asian Studies at the University of British Columbia, Canada. Consulate General of India, Vancouver congratulates him for his prominent achievement.

Benefits: The New National Mineral Policy will ensure more effective regulation. 2. Cabinet clears Rs 10,000 crore FAME II scheme New Delhi: With an eye on promoting electric and hybrid vehicles, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said Thursday that the Union Cabinet has cleared a Rs 10,000-crore programme under the FAME-II scheme. The scheme will be implemented over a period of three years with effect from April 1, 2019. It is the expanded version of the present scheme FAME India I (Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid) and Electric Vehicles (FAME) which was launched on April 1, 2015, with a total outlay of Rs 895 crore, an official statement said. 5. 33 honoured with India’s most-coveted science prize Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave away the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize — India’s most coveted science and technology award — to 33 winners of past three years on the occasion of National Science Day in Delhi on Thursday. Dr Aditi Sen De of Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad, is the only woman among the 33 scientists who were awarded for the year 2016, 2017 and 2018. Ola Electric raises Rs 400 cr in funding round led by Tiger Global, Matrix India New Delhi: Ride hailing major Ola Friday said its EV business - Ola Electric Mobility (OEM) - has raised Rs 400 crore in a funding round led by Tiger Global and Matrix India. "OEM, a company backed by Ola, has raised a sum of Rs 400 crore led by several of Ola's early investors, Tiger Global and Matrix India and others, as part of its first round of investment," a statement said. Joining the Dots: IIT-D builds low-cost Braille laptop for the visually-impaired Researchers at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Delhi have developed a Braille laptop called DotBook, which can be useful for the visually impaired.
