Consulate News Inviting 'Expressions of Interest' for Namaste Canada - 2019

Greetings from the Consulate General of India, Vancouver. 2. The Consulate is inviting 'Expressions of Interest' from all Indian Associations/Societies who wish to perform/partner in ‘Namaste Canada 2019’. The following may please be noted in this regard: •

Only dance and musical performances [preferably in group] will be accepted for Namaste Canada 2019;

Only one item per Association, which has not been performed earlier, with duration of 5-7 minutes will be accepted;

3. All Indian Associations/Societies wishing to perform in NC 2019 may please submit their preferred 'Form of Performance' [at least two or three forms] latest by 15 April 2019. Click on “Expression of Interest” to submit. (Please do not send submission through email as it will not be considered). Associations/Societies that have not partnered with the Consulate earlier also need to fill up “Proforma for participating organisations” form and send to IndiaCulsec@Telus.Net. Cultural Heritage - Festivals of India Aoling Festival, Nagaland (April 1-10) Different harvest festivals are the means of tourism in North East India. Hence many people from across the world and parts of the country choose to spend their holidays in Nagaland and bask in the cultural and natural beauty of Nagaland. The Hornbill festival is one of the grandest festivals celebrated in Nagaland followed by Aoling festival in terms of importance and grandiosity. The Hornbill festival celebrates the cultures of all the seventeen tribes in Nagaland. However, Aoling is celebrated by a single tribe of Nagaland. The festival is celebrated by the Konyak people. The Konyak tribe is the largest of the seventeen tribes dwelling in Nagaland. The Aoling festival is the biggest festival celebrated in the district of Mon. It signifies the culture of the Konyaks. The festival is celebrated during the first week of April. It also coincides with the start of Konak New Year. It is a harvest festival celebrated by the Konyak Nagas. The festival celebrates the arrival of spring season and the people pray for a good outcome of upcoming harvest. People make sacrifices of animals to appease the Almighty. Aoling is largely celebrated in the Mon district where there is a higher concentration of Konyak people. NIIF, Roadis tie up for US$ 2 billion road investment platform Mumbai: Infrastructure investment company Roadis and the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) have announced the creation of a platform that will invest in road projects in India. The platform will invest up to $2 billion of equity to target toll-operate-transfer models, acquisition of existing road concessions and investment opportunities in the road sector with the aim of creating a large roads platform in the country, the companies said in a press release. With 710 km of highways under ownership and management, Roadis is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments), one of Canada’s largest pension funds. India recorded 14 IPOs raising USD 940 mn in first quarter of 2019: Report New Delhi: Indian companies raised USD 940 million (about Rs 6,482.48 crore) through 14 initial public offers in the first quarter of 2019 and the IPO activity is expected to gather more steam post elections, an EY report said Tuesday.
