Consulate News Inviting 'Expressions of Interest' for Namaste Canada - 2019

Greetings from the Consulate General of India, Vancouver. 2. The Consulate is inviting 'Expressions of Interest' from all Indian Associations/Societies who wish to perform/partner in ‘Namaste Canada 2019’. The following may please be noted in this regard: •

Only dance and musical performances [preferably in group] will be accepted for Namaste Canada 2019;

Only one item per Association, which has not been performed earlier, with duration of 5-7 minutes will be accepted;

3. All Indian Associations/Societies wishing to perform in NC 2019 may please submit their preferred 'Form of Performance' [at least two or three forms] latest by 15 April 2019. Click on “Expression of Interest” to submit. (Please do not send submission through email as it will not be considered). Associations/Societies that have not partnered with the Consulate earlier also need to fill up “Proforma for participating organisations” form and send to IndiaCulsec@Telus.Net. Vibrant Goa Roadshow at Consulate General of India (April 10, 2019) Vibrant Goa Roadshow organized by the Vibrant Goa Foundation in partnership with BC India Business Network was hosted at Consulate General of India, Vancouver on 10th April, 2019 in partnership with CGI Vancouver, Forestry Innovation Investment, Vancouver Economic Commission and Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce, BC. Consul General Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi gave the Keynote address. Vibrant Goa, Vancouver Convenor Mr. Vivek Savkur welcomed the guests. Vibrant Goa Chief Mentor Dr. Jagat Shah; Vibrant Goa Foundation Chairman Mr. Rajkumar Kamat and Balashree Foods Pvt Ltd., Goa President Mr. Pranav Aggarwal invited all to participate in the Vibrant Goa Summit which will be held in Goa, India during October 17-19, 2019. Their presentations were followed by the presentations of IC-IMPACTS CEO Dr. Nemkumar Banthia; Forestry Innovation Investment CEO Mr. Michael Loseth and Vancouver Economic Commission CEO Ms. Catherine Warren. An MOU between Vibrant Goa Foundation and Mr Vivek Savkur President BCIBN was signed during the roadshow. More than 60 participants atended the event.

Vaisakhi Celebration at BC Legislature (April 10, 2019) Consul General Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi attended the Vaisakhi Celebration at the BC Legislature hosted by the Premier Mr. John Horgan on April 10, 2019

Hindu New Year Celebration (April 12, 2019) Consul General Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi and Consul CPV Mr. H. Venkatachalam participated in the Hindu New Year Celebration at the Burnaby Hindu Temple on April 07, 2019. A Tribute to Mahatma Gandhi was given by the young performers on the occasion of celebrating 150th Birth Anniversary of the Mahatma. Consul General presented a set of books on Indian History, Culture and Philosophy to the Burnaby Hindu Temple as part of "Bharat Ek Parichay- India Corner" for their library.

Consul General Mrs. Abhilasha Joshi attended the Official Opening Ceremony of Arya Samaj Educational and Cultural Society of B.C. renovated Prayer Hall on April 06, 2019 at Surrey.

R. D. S. O - Global Request for Proposal for High Performance Rail pad Ministry of Railways, Research Designs and Standards Organisation (R.D.S.O.), Lucknow is inviting the proposal from the firms whose product High Performance Rail pad using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber qualifies the technical criteria given in Annexure-C for short-listing the products for considering for ‘Field Trial on Indian Railways”. After successful field trial of the product i.e. High Performance Rail pad using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber, the adoption of this new product will be dealt as per Railway Board letter no. 2013/TkII/22/7/4(General Policy) dated 08.03.2016 regarding “New Policy on development and adoption of new product / technologies for track/bridge related items”. Firms who can supply the High Performance Rail pad using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber meeting the technical criteria i.e. generic specification / performance parameters of High Performance Rail pad using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber as given in Annexure-C of this document are requested to see the complete details and RFP document on RDSO’s website www.rdso.indianrailways.gov.in -> Tenders -> EoI. 1. The firms are requested to submit the proposal and requisite details in the prescribed format to Director/Track-IV, Anusandhan Bhawan, Track Design Directorate, RDSO, Manak Nagar, Lucknow –226011 (INDIA) up to 27.05.2019. Firms submitting proposals shall note that: 2. This ‘RFP is only for the purpose of short-listing the product i.e. High Performance Rail pad using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber meeting the stipulated ‘Generic Specification/Performance parameters of ‘High Performance Rail pad using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber’ as given in Annexure-C of this document for considering for undertaking field trial of using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber in the Indian Railways. 3. The relevant values/properties of the proposed High Performance Rail pad using TPE or any other suitable variant/blend of polymer/composite other than rubber meeting the technical requirements as given in Annexure-C needs to be provided. Cultural Heritage - Festivals of India Bihu Festival (April 14) Bihu is the name for the National Festival of Assam which is one of the most beautiful states of India which is reckoned for tea gardens, mighty Brahmaputra River and Lush green forests. Also the state of Assam is reckoned for the Bihu festival that depicts a set of three different cultural festivals of the state. The origin of the term ‘Bihu’ came from the Sankrit word that means ‘Vishu’. It is the cheerful festival of Assam that is celebrated by the locals irrespective of caste, creed and beliefs. In a year Assamese celebrate three different kinds of Bihu festival that is Bohaag Bihu in the middle of April month, Maagh Bihu in the middle of January month and Kaati Bihu in the middle of October month. Assam is a fertile land surrounded by Blue Mountains and replenished by the mighty Brahmaputra River. The occupation of the people here is agriculture and the entire society is agrarian in nature. Bihu is basically a celebration of the change of the seasons. Each of the three Bihu celebrations marks an important phase in the farming calendar of Assam. Sahibabad has become the 1500th station in the country to get free Wi-Fi facility provided by RailTel, as per an ANI report.
