Lecture on ancient Indian wisdom held
Consul General, Perth Amarjeet Singh Takhi inaugurated the Deepavali event jointly organised by the Westfield-Carousel and the Hindu Council of Australia Perth at the Amphitheatre. A beautiful exhibition based on the Ramayana is on display at Westfield till 6 November.

Invitation to take part in film-making contest
The Indian Council for Cultural Relations is inviting Indian diaspora and foreign alumni for video/film making competition. The objective behind this competition is to connect with the Indian diaspora living abroad, and with foreign students and alumni who are presently studying in India or have studied earlier. They are organising this competition in collaboration with Route2Roots. The last date has now been extended till 1 January 2023. More information can be obtained from iccr.gov.in.
Indian companies take part at the All Energy Australia Exhibition
Nine Indian manufacturers and exporters in renewable and non-renewable energy sectors such as Birla Cable Ltd, Suzlon Energy, Transformers & Rectifiers, Switch Gear, Trinity Touch, Shiv Om Brass, Pixon Green Energy, Vindhiya Telelinks Ltd., Tesla Transformers etc. as well as Indian Electricals & Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA) participated at the India Pavilion at “All Energy Australia Exhibition” organised by the Indian Chamber of Commerce, in association with the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre on 26 -27 October. Consul General, Melbourne Dr Sushil Kumar inaugurated the India Pavilion at the “All Energy Australia Exhibition”. Director General of Indian Chamber of Commerce Dr Rajeev Singh and Director General of IEEMA Charu Mathur accompanied the Indian companies keenly looking at forging partnerships with Australian companies in manufacturing and trading in the Energy sector.
FICQ team attends Diaspora Roundtable
The team of the Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) attended Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Diaspora Roundtable: Centre for Australia India Relations. The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Government of Australia provided an overview on the announcement of the Centre and its purpose and sought views from Community Leaders. The FICQ has suggested for the Centre to be based in Brisbane/ Queensland and have provided valuable suggestions and recommendations. The High Commission of India, Canberra organised ‘Open Day’ on October 22 under
‘Windows to the World’. Visitors were offered the taste of diverse and rich Indian culture. Activities included yoga session, saree draping and Henna making, etc. ‘Windows to the World’ returned to Canberra on 22-23 October. It was an occasion to discover a world within the city and venture past the gates of iconic embassies and high commissions of this capital city.

Ekta Diwas” with a unity walk and the launch of an exhibition ‘Sardar
Patel – The Architect of Unification’ on 31October at 344, St Kilda Road, Melbourne, VIC 3004. Commemorating #NationalUnityDay and 147th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel, the High Commission Of India (HCI), Canberra and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations organised a virtual talk by Dr Shobhana Radhakrishna. It was broadcast live on HCI’s Facebook and YouTube channels on 31 October at 7 PM AEDT. Dr Shobhana Radhakrishna is an internationally acclaimed speaker on the philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi. She has established organisations to work for Sarvodaya, Gramswaraj and constructive programs.
Lecture on ancient Indian wisdom held
In collaboration with Brahma Kumaris, Consulate General of India, Melbourne organised a lecture on ‘Ancient wisdom, Modern solutions’, where senior practitioners guided the attendees on the wisdom from Indian ancient times.The event also featured a music presentation and a meditation session.
The Telugu Association of Australia (TAAI) in association with Benchmark Investment Group are hosting musical maestro MM Keeravaani garu and 8 singers, 7 musicians and actor Shashank who are coming to Melbourne to perform live to entertain and provide an enthralling musical experience to the audience. The event is on 19November 2022 from 5pm to 8.30pm at Kingston City Hall 979-985 Nepean Hwy, Moorabbin VIC 3189. The Telugu Association of Australia Inc is a non-profit community organisation incorporated in July 1992. TAAI is a non-political and secular organisation aimed at promoting Telugu culture such as literature, language among the local residents who are Telugu speaking and of Telugu origin.
NSDCI joins hands with Perdman to grow Australia-India business

World. This partnership will serve as a gateway for Indian skilled youth to move to Australia. This agreement will enhance the deeper cooperation between the two companies and is another chapter in the rapidly growing cooperation between
Australia and India. This partnership will empower India’s skilled youth by connecting them to opportunities in Australia, providing them with a global platform to showcase their skills and contribute to the overall well-being of the world. The MoU is aligned with the vision of a self-reliant India which is about achieving self-reliance while contributing to the global good. This collaboration will also provide an opportunity for students from Australia and India to study in each other’s country through different channels. Not only this, going forward this MoU will also explore the possibility of scholarship opportunities and fee reduction for students coming from economically weaker backgrounds. Following Dharmendra Pradhan’s visit to Australia, Ved Mani Tiwari, CEO of NSDC and Managing Director of NSDC International visited Perth to launch NSDC International with Perdman in WA. The six-member delegation met with Premier of Western Australia Mark McGowan MLA. Premier Mark McGowan welcomed the decision of NSDCI and Perdman to set up offices in Western Australia and the opportunity to further strengthen ties with India. About the recent decision to set up offices McGowan said, “My government is committed to enhancing our state’s already strong ties with India, based on common values, strong people-to-people ties and substantial trade and investment engagement. Earlier this year our largest business delegation ever visited India with a clear message.” He said that Western Australia is open for business with India and warmly welcomes students, workers, visitors and investors. Ved Mani Tiwari pointed out that while India has a vast network of training institutes consisting of Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) , Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendras (PMKKs) and other institutions imparting skills to lakhs of youth every year , Australia offers skilled workers facing severe shortage. Consequently, there is an urgent need to create an enabling and convenient environment to benefit both the countries. He said that he firmly believes that this partnership will not only make the process of international mobility a smooth process by removing any bottlenecks and procedural challenges, but also fulfill the aspirations of Indian youth to earn livelihood abroad. Vikas Rambal, President, Perdman said that they welcome the government of India’s initiative to build stronger ties with Australia and have chosen Western Australia as a state to establish the network. Food, songs and dance mark FICQ’s Diwali celebrations
The Federation of Indian Communities of Queensland (FICQ) organised the Diwali celebrations for the Indian community on 28 October. This year’s celebrations brought back the spirits of enthusiastic celebrations as the past couple of years had to be celebrated under various COVIDimposed restrictions. However, this year once again the communities came together for a common goal of celebrating the togetherness they share despite the diversities of these Indian communities. All three levels of Government officials attended the FICQ Diwali function. Opposition Minister Peter Dutton addressed the audience. Minister for Education, Minister for Industrial Relations and Minister for Racing, Grace Grace MP, motivated the crowd with her speech. Hon. Consul Archana Singh gave a motivational speech making the crowd present feel at home and proud of their cultural heritage. More than 1000 people of Indian descent were present at the King George Square celebrating Diwali festival food, culture through the songs, and dance performances, and the Dhol Tasha honour given to the dignitaries present on the occasion. About the celebrations FICQ president Anoop Nannuru said, “Diwali is a big event and a big festival for the Indian Community. Organising this event is a huge task. Right from getting funds for making the event financially viable to executing it and later cleaning the mess created after the event, each step is a huge effort and must be done meticulously, taking care of every minute detail to make it a successful event. It is a pleasure to see the Indian community support and come together as one during this Diwali function. We thank all committee members, advisors, volunteers, sponsors, dignitaries and community members for their continued support.”
