DALE McKEE SOCIETY

“Our gifts are intended to recognize longstanding connection and loyalty to ISU. Each of us has his or her own list of ISU memories, but all of us can trace whatever achievements we have had in our lives to the education that we received at Indiana State. That we can encourage and support some of ISU’s best students with this gift and recognize a connection that dates back nearly 90 years means a great deal to all of us.” — Dale McKee ’57, GR ’60

McKee Fellows receive support in areas including undergraduate research; creative activity, such as artistic exhibitions; internships; residencies; and professional opportunities. The first student recipients of the McKee Fellows were selected in the Spring 2021 semester through a competitive application process within the Honors College.

Dakota Brown | Marion, IL Public Health Major with a concentration in Healthcare Administration As a McKee Fellow, Dakota will be connecting classroom concepts to impact her work with healthcare professionals, helping to improve outcomes for Wabash Valley residents. High blood pressure/hypertension affects over a quarter of the world’s adult population, and her project will offer remote monitoring technology to Union Hospital patients so that data can be collected daily and a care team can act in real-time to take steps to reduce their hypertension.

Kimmie Collins | Terre Haute, IN Marketing Major with a concentration in Sales Management As a McKee Fellow, Kimmie will undertake a creative project that will provide children in Vigo County with access to literature and will improve their perception of Indiana State. She will write and produce a high-quality children’s book, narrated from the perspective of Sycamore Sam, that showcases the mascot’s adventures on Indiana State University’s campus. Upon completing this book, copies will be donated to firstgrade students as financially possible, with the ultimate goal of reaching all students enrolled in local schools.
