Indian shipyards delegation explores industry collaboration in Perth

A high-level delegation from Indian shipyards, led by Chairman and Managing Director of GRSE - Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers Ltd, Cmdr PR Hari, recently visited Perth to explore opportunities for industry collaboration. The delegation, comprising senior officials from key shipbuilding companies including Hindustan Shipyard Ltd (HSL), Goa Shipyard Ltd (GSL), and Mazagaon Dock Shipbuilders Ltd (MDL), was accompanied by Defence Attaché, Captain Akhilesh Menon, from the High Commission of India.



During their visit, the delegation engaged in productive discussions with Consul General (CG) Amarjeet Singh Takhi, exploring avenues for building closer ties and fostering collaboration between Indian and Australian shipbuilding industries. The meeting provided a platform for exchanging insights and exploring potential partnerships in the maritime sector.
Discussions centered on leveraging the respective strengths and expertise of Indian and Australian shipyards to enhance cooperation in areas such as naval construction, technology transfer, and joint ventures. The delegation expressed keen interest in exploring strategic alliances and investment opportunities in Western Australia's vibrant maritime industry.
The visit underscored the growing importance of bilateral cooperation in the defense and maritime sectors between India and Australia. As both countries seek to strengthen their defense capabilities and bolster maritime security in the Indo-Pacific region, collaborations between shipbuilding companies play a crucial role in achieving these shared objectives.
Moving forward, the Consulate General of India in Perth and the Indian shipyards delegation remain committed to furthering dialogue and collaboration, laying the groundwork for mutually beneficial partnerships that will contribute to the prosperity and security of both nations.
