Farewell event in Brisbane honours former Honorary Consul General Archana Singh

The Australia India Business Council’s (AIBC) Queensland Chapter recently hosted a farewell event in Brisbane for Archana Singh, the former Honorary Consul General for India in Queensland. Singh, who has served with distinction for over 13 years, is celebrated for her significant contributions to nurturing the bilateral relationship between Australia and India and her unwavering support for the Indian diaspora.


Singh's departure from her honorary role follows the establishment of a new Consulate in Brisbane earlier this year. Her leadership, vision, and dedication have left an indelible mark on the community, earning her deep respect and admiration.


The farewell event saw attendance from senior leaders across government, business, and the Indian diaspora.


Notable attendees included representatives from the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, officials from the Indian Consulate, Trade and Investment Queensland, Redland City Council, The University of Queensland, Springfield City Group, BRAVUS, Mahindra Group, Ashurst, EY, and Parsram Foods Pty Ltd.
Key figures such as Springfield Group Chairman Maha Sinnathamby AM, former AIBC National Chair Jim Varghese AM, The University of Queensland Chancellor Peter Varghese AO, immediate past president of AIBC Queensland Nik Senapati, BRAVUS' Samir Vora, and India's first Consul General in Brisbane, Neetu Bhaagotia, provided heartfelt tributes to Singh’s exceptional journey and achievements.
The event highlighted Singh's pivotal role in strengthening the ties between Queensland and India, enhancing trade, cultural exchange, and community support. Her efforts have laid a strong foundation for continued collaboration and mutual growth between the two regions.
