Consulate General and Study Melbourne host welcome reception for new Indian students

The Consulate General of India, in collaboration with Study Melbourne, organized a warm welcome reception on May 1st at the Victoria Investment Centre to assist new students from India as they begin their educational journey in Melbourne.

The event, attended by Consul General Dr. Sushil Kumar, and Acting Director of Study Melbourne Caroline Hartnett, aimed to provide essential support and guidance to incoming Indian students, offering valuable information on various aspects of student life in Melbourne.

During the reception, officers from Victoria Police, Life Saving Victoria, Water Safety Victoria, and Fire Rescue Victoria delivered informative presentations to raise awareness among students about safety and security measures in the state. Students were briefed on emergency services and urged to register with the Consulate for assistance when needed.

Dr. Sushil Kumar and Caroline Hartnett addressed the students, emphasizing the importance of educational cooperation between India and Australia, particularly highlighting Victoria's role as a leading destination for Indian students pursuing higher education abroad. The event underscored the commitment of both the Indian and Victorian governments to support and nurture the academic aspirations of international students.

The reception also provided an excellent networking opportunity for new students, allowing them to connect with fellow peers and student ambassadors who shared their experiences and offered insights into academic and social life in Melbourne.
