Queensland Premier locks in Sister-State deal with Shanghai

Municipal Government this month– renewing a Sister State Agreement between Queensland and Shanghai.

Queensland has a long-standing relationship with China, an important trading partner for the State.

This partnership is underpinned by two State level agreements with Shanghai (Sister-State), first signed in 1989, and Guangdong (Friendship), signed in 2008.

South East Queensland is growing

Over the next 25 years the number of older people aged 65 years or older will increase.

“Queensland has renewed an important Sister-State Agreement with Shanghai, cementing our strong and enduring bond with China.

“Sister-State Agreements are key in advancing trade, business and cultural exchanges between regions, and I’m proud to continue this more than 34-yearlong partnership.

“We are a Queensland that recognises and celebrates our long, rich history of diversity and multiculturalism.

“I want to thank His Excellency Mr Hua Yuan for visiting Queensland, and for believing in the rewarding partnership between our two growing regions.
