AIBC leads bilateral trade & investment promotion in Regional NSW

The Australia India Business Council (AIBC), in collaboration with the Consulate General of India (CGI) Sydney, AUKUS Forum, Gunnedah Shire Council, Business NSW, and the Department of Regional NSW, spearheaded a bilateral trade and investment promotion outreach program in the New England and North West regions of NSW, encompassing the towns of Gunnedah, Tamworth, and Armidale.



During this visit, the delegation engaged with regional businesses across a variety of sectors, including food processing, agriculture/agri-tech, renewables and net-zero targets, advanced manufacturing, healthcare and medtech, skill development and education, defence and space, as well as startups and innovation.
The discussions centered on growth stories and significant opportunities for scaling up and investing in India, under the bilateral hashtag #AI-ECTA agreement, which aims to bolster trade and economic ties between Australia and India.
A government-industry roundtable session held in Tamworth highlighted numerous bilateral industry sector opportunities and provided valuable insights on how regional Australian businesses can leverage partnerships with the Indian market. This session underscored the potential complementarity between Australian and Indian businesses, fostering mutual growth and collaboration.
The outreach program has established several impactful business engagements, setting the stage for ongoing bilateral opportunities. This initiative highlights the significant potential for regional Australian businesses to tap into the dynamic Indian market, promoting sustained economic growth and innovation through strategic partnerships.
