What is the right time to send wedding invitations?
You have already sent the save-the-date cards and now you just can’t wait to roll-out your wedding invitation cards. Weddings are exciting in all cultures across the world. From deciding the venue to finalizing the decoration, theme, color, menu, and much more, everything is fun. An important part amongst all the rituals is - when to send the invitation cards? You should plan your wedding invitation in advance. This is a sure-fire way to ensure that all of your guests can block their calendars for your special day. But, is there a perfect time to send wedding invites? Yes!
When to send wedding invitations? A wedding invitation suite includes the main invitation card, a response card (RSVP), and other enclosure cards (reception card, attire card, travel and accommodations card, wedding website card, etc.) As a rule of thumb, send your wedding invites six to eight weeks before your big day. A wedding invitation should be sent to everyone on the guest list. The deadline for the RSVP card should be one month before the wedding. This will give you ample time to accommodate the required changes. If you do not receive any information from some guests, you can always give them a call.
What about international guests? If your guest list includes some overseas guests as well, you can send their cards along with the ones decided for your other invitees. Make sure you give them an immediate call or send an email with the card details. You can also inform them about the hotel accommodation to help them book rooms. If your family lives abroad, you would like to invite them a bit before other guests. This will help them to plan their leaves and accommodate travel. We recommend you send the invites at least 12 weeks before. You will have to follow the same deadline if you’re planning a destination wedding. Ensure that you keep following up with them to avoid any last-minute troubles. Things will become easier for you if you create a wedding website too. Your guests, as well as close acquaintances, can check all the information on your website. It will save your time from attending phone calls.
What to include on the wedding invitations?
You can include the full web address of your wedding website on the save-the-date cards. Hence, don’t include this information on your wedding card. You should mention the schedule of different wedding functions along with venue details and contact person. Avoid including the wedding registry information. It can be shown on the wedding website. Your wedding card can also include dress code information if any. Try putting this information on the lower left or right corner. You don’t want to make it a center of attraction while ensuring that people still see it.
Some other things to consider: If you plan to use a calligrapher to address your envelope, make sure you get in touch with him on time. The best would be if you contact him as soon as you decide your invitation printing schedule. If you have to deliver the envelope out of the city, then take a few days to seal the stationery. You don’t plan to take your invitations directly to the local post office.
Final thoughts: It is important to send wedding invitations at the right time – neither too early nor too late. If you send it too early, people might forget about the event in a few weeks. If too late, then your guests might face issues with sparing time from their busy schedules.
Hope this blog will help you send the invitations at the right time.
