FROM THE CHAIRPERSON’S DESK
Pursuit of management education at Indira Group of Institute’s has been an inspiring journey. Being at the helm of endeavors at Indira I cannot help but imagine the possibilities the future holds for management education. The philosophy, governance and values of business are witnessing a sea change and plenty of its repercussions are already being witnessed across the globe. India cannot isolate itself from such dynamic global environment. This is the time to adopt the changes we perceive. Such dynamics should result in better professionalism, and the inherent strength of a competitive economy should become the sine qua non of our corporate existence. Quality being the bottom line for every industry, Indira has never lost sight of the fact that for India to forge ahead in its drive towards economic supremacy in the world, it is the quality of our people who drive it that matters most. And quality, as the clichÊ goes, is never an accident but an article of faith. The Indira Group has proven itself on this count and has no intention of resting on its laurels. The challenges of the global economy has not deterred us and at Indira we have redoubled our efforts to create just such managers ensuring that they are ready to take on the mantle for corporate India in its march towards recovery. Our faith in education and our vision to nurture the skills of business leaders of tomorrow has enabled us to hone our students drive for creativity and innovation. Our keen perception of the dynamics of change in management education has always geared us to offer courses and pedagogy relevant for contemporary business needs. With the confidence that our intentions have matched our efforts, I wish you the very best in the future. Dr. Tarita Shankar ChairpersonIndira Group of Institutes
FROM THE GROUP DIRECTOR’S DESK Dear Students, The ongoing slowdown in the Indian economy has affected the business climate within India. Growth rates of major sectors like Power, Retail, and Technology are also experiencing the aftershocks of global recession. The accompanying woes viz. weakening rupee, stuck investments, rising inflation and interest rates are inevitably making the environment extremely competitive. However, as far as the immediate future is concerned, it is predicted that India is now on the way to recovery and will recover more rapidly than other countries. Social media is playing an amazing role in pulling the business sector out from such a crisis. It has grown exponentially over the last few years and has impacted the industry- consumer interaction in multiple ways. Social media historically has and is continuing to have a huge influence on business, encompassing customer relationship management, market research, cost control initiatives, sales and recruiting. We at Indira understand this paradigm shift. Using the learning tools and the pedagogy used in classrooms, we not only entrench domain knowledge but also emphasize the importance of integrating technology and social media for knowledge mobilization and running businesses successfully. Our strong network of the alumni spread all over the globe, holding leading positions in industry and academia alike, are a testimony to the Indira’s focus of nurturing individual intelligence and the pursuit of excellence. It is indeed a great pleasure to welcome you to Pune’s premier B- School- Indira Institute Of Management.

COURSE : POST GRADUATE DIPLOMA IN MANAGEMENT (PGDM) The two year full time Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) is an AICTE approved autonomous course. The course has been designed considering the Industry requirements and gives the students a head start in the chosen functional area. Special topics in the syllabus include latest updates and developments to make the student industry ready. The specialization is taken up in the second semester to focus the studies on the functional area of the student. It has always been the endeavour of the group to provide a stimulating environment and offer more than classroom lectures. The Career & Leadership Development Program incorporates a weekly interaction with senior members of the industry and experts from various fields who share their experiences with the students. This will not only expose students to the practical reality but also lead to a better understanding of the theory being taught and its applications. The course offers specialization in Marketing, Finance and Human Resource. These specialization subjects are offered from the second semester. This allows the students enough time to deepdive into the intricacies of their specialization as well as to choose their summer internship in the domain of his / her choice. Marketing specialization focuses on the basics of marketing theory and its application in the current competitive environment. The need for customer relationship management and customer specific strategy are better emphasized through case studies and assignments in various industrial sectors. Topics like Sales Management & Personal Selling are explained through the current practices of evaluating the contribution to the organization and improvement of market share rather than mere volume achievement. The Domain of Finance aims at developing students in various niche areas such as Accounting & Reporting, Corporate Finance, Exchange & Risk Management and Auditing and Control functions. The HR subjects emphasise on the broader aspect of Human Relations Development especially from the view of the organization requirement and group dynamics while basic human psychology and needs are kept paramount for productivity and industrial harmony. The PGDM course places great emphasis on the practical training with sessions on management games where students are given tasks to be undertaken using management techniques and leadership skills. Special industrial visits are arranged where students are given a view of the day to day operations of a company and made to take up assignments in specific areas of operations.
PGDM ICE Program in UAE
PGDM ICE Program in Singapore
Our PGDM course focuses heavily on the "holistic development" of our students. While domain related subjects are taught by experienced and efficient faculty, extracurricular and co-curricular activities are given due weightage. Students are encouraged to take up Yoga / Physical Training cum Gymming (held twice a week) and play sports like badminton, soccer, basketball, etc. Our hallmark Outdoor Management Training (OMT) program enhances the students' abilities to take up challenges and overcome fear of the unknown. At Indira Institute Of Management, our PGDM students are exposed to a comprehensive International Campus Enrichment (ICE) program. This program is one of the highlights of our contemporary course. Here, students are given a global exposure by the means of a structured overseas visit. Students visit international trade centres (Singapore – Batch 2011-13, UAE – Batch 2012-14) to get international academic exposure in addition to understanding the historical, cultural, social, political, geographical and economical aspects of these regions vis-à -vis world trade. Culture brings great understanding; students thus enjoyed a lot at the Singapore World renowned tourist centers like- Sentosa, Merlion, Singapore Flyer, Orchard Street, Jurong Bird Park, Singapore Zoo and many more places. In UAE, the students visited the Burj Khalifa, Mall of Dubai, Masdar City, Sports City, Desert Safari and numerous other attractions. Our course fees also include a laptop / tablet that is given to our students. This, coupled with our Wi-Fi campuses gives our student the edge over other students when entering into the corporate world. IIMP students participate in various inter-collegiate fests and management games. This allows our students to gauge the strengths and weaknesses of the students of other colleges and in turn improve on their abilities.
