PGDM - PROSPECTUS 2016
2
The men and women that change the world all understand the incredible power of dream and belief. Their dreams give rise to vision and their self belief gives them incessant energy to pursue that vision. As human beings, we naturally have the tendency to get stuck on the negativity and then end up eroding our belief systems. Instead of thinking about dreams, we get bogged down with our failures and losses and fail to find a meaningful vision in our life.
DREAM, BELIEVE, ACHIEVE
“To live a life of high achievement, you must not only dream but also fully believe in yourself and your ability”. Leaders at all times stand testimony to this. If you are an employee, you can't expect your boss to fully believe in you if you don't believe in yourself and believe your dreams. Only when you believe your dreams, you pour your heart into achieving it. Believing and visualizing your dream will energize you because you can then see how the world changes for the better and how people live a happier life because of your dream. The energy and excitement is there for you to feel. Today, everybody is thinking big ; Big Data, Big Bazar, Big TV, Big Boss to name a few. Like wise, the new government at the centre also thinks big in terms of high GDP growth, 100 GW Solar Power, Bullet Train, 100 smart cities, UN-Security Council seat etc etc. We at Indira also believe that India as a young country is now cut out for big things in the current century. Youth have enormous power to dream big and achieve big. We understand, everything is made twice. Once, in your mind and second time, in reality. What our mind conceives and believes, we go onto achieve this. Therefore, our theme for this year is “Dream, Believe and Achieve”. Come and be part of this life changing journey at Indira.

FROM THE CHAIRPERSON’S DESK Pursuit of management education at Indira Group of Institutes has been an inspiring journey. Being at the helm of endeavors at Indira I cannot help but imagine the possibilities the future holds for management education. The philosophy, governance and values of business are witnessing a sea change and plenty of its repercussions are already being witnessed across the globe. India cannot isolate itself from such dynamic global environment. This is the time to adopt the changes we perceive. Such dynamics should result in better professionalism, and the inherent strength of a competitive economy should become the sine qua non of our corporate existence.
The challenges of the global economy have not deterred us and at Indira we have redoubled our efforts to create just such managers ensuring that they are ready to take on the mantle for corporate India in its march towards recovery. Our faith in education and our vision to nurture the skills of business leaders of tomorrow has enabled us to hone our students drive for creativity and innovation. Our keen perception of the dynamics of change in management education has always geared us to offer courses and pedagogy relevant for contemporary business needs. With the confidence that our intentions have matched our efforts, I wish you the very best in the future. Dr. Tarita Shankar Chairperson Indira Group of Institutes
MESSAGE
Quality being the bottom line for every industry, Indira has never lost sight of the fact that for India to forge ahead in its drive towards economic supremacy in the world, it is the quality of our people who drive it that matters most. And quality, as the clichĂŠ goes, is never an accident but an article of faith. The Indira Group has proven itself on this count and has no intention of resting on its laurels.

FROM THE GROUP DIRECTOR’S DESK Dear Students, The ongoing slowdown in the Indian economy has affected the business climate within India. Growth rates of major sectors like Power, Retail, and Technology are also experiencing the aftershocks of global recession. The accompanying woes viz. weakening rupee, stuck investments, rising inflation and interest rates are inevitably making the environment extremely competitive. However, as far as the immediate future is concerned, it is predicted that India is now on the way to recovery and will recover more rapidly than other countries. Social media is playing an amazing role in pulling the business sector out from such a crisis. It has grown exponentially over the last few years and has impacted the industry- consumer interaction in multiple ways. Social media historically has and is continuing to have a huge influence on business, encompassing customer relationship management, market research, cost control initiatives, sales and recruiting.
MESSAGE
We at Indira understand this paradigm shift. Using the learning tools and the pedagogy used in classrooms, we not only entrench domain knowledge but also emphasize the importance of integrating technology and social media for knowledge mobilization and running businesses successfully. Our strong network of the alumni spread all over the globe, holding leading positions in industry and academia alike, are a testimony to the Indira’s focus of nurturing individual intelligence and the pursuit of excellence. It is indeed a great pleasure to welcome you to Pune’s premier B- School- Indira Institute Of Management.
Prof. Chetan S. Wakalkar Group Director Indira Group of Institutes

INDIRA EVENTS 4th Indira Brand Slam 2015 Today's business space is architectured by the accelerated pace of disruptions. Companies and brands that aren't nimble enough are at risk of fading into oblivion. The velocity of change today is so great that companies and brands that were considered innovators just a few years ago are now at risk of being disrupted themselves. The past decade marked the emergence of the airy world of search and social networks where all that is solid has been melting in the air - becoming virtual. While a large section of the business world is still grappling to master the nuances of the trend, we are already evidencing its reversal -air becoming solid-shifting the paradigm from social media to intelligent devices. The most successful companies are already focusing on connecting the virtual and real world with google spearheading the trend with driverless cars, google glass and robots.

Also present was the Guardian Minister of Pune, Mr. GirishBapat. The function kicked off with a dance display based on the various Rasas or moods of the individual, presented by the students, it set the tone for the splendid flow of events to follow. The Chairperson of the Group Dr. Tarita Shankar introduced the Chief Guest and elaborated on the multifaceted personality of Mr. Gadkari – an ardent RSS worker, a social worker, entrepreneur, and politician of substance and his many strengths that define him. A Swayamsevak of the RSS to the core, for MrGadkari, social justice, harmony and equality are matters of commitment. His skills in social engineering, withstood the litmus test of electoral politics in the recent Maharashtra assembly elections especially in the Nagpur district.
INDIRA EVENTS
Mr. Girish Bapat recalled his first visit to the Indira Group on its inauguration in 1994 and congratulated Dr. Shankar for leading the organization to its present strength of over 10000 students in a short span. Laced with native wit and humour, and heavy with the wealth of his experience, Mr. Gadkari's address was the stuff the students would cherish for years. He exhorted the students to learn the difference between literacy and education. Academic education does not confer the title of an honorable man, but when formal education is married to education from the school of life, with its myriad ways of teaching us the way to live, only then does a person attain the right to call himself truly educated. According to him, Knowledge, Science and Technology will not be enough to take one far, you need to combine it with the qualities of entrepreneurship, innovation and vision of the future. Wealth thus created will be universally beneficial and will ensure all round progress. Delving into his own career he told the students that he was no Engineer, but he had the vision to put the minimum resources available to him for the good of the country. His mantra for a good life – Be useful to people. Work for common Good. Enjoy life by the day. He ended his address with a telling poem which emphasized the value of doing good, however small one may be. Thunderous applause greeted him as he concluded his electric address to the students passing out into their chosen career.

Business and society can co-exist peacefully only if we all believe in and practice the doctrine of sustainable development. At IIMP, our students are encouraged to actively organize and participate in various social initiatives. Some of these are tree plantation drives, blood donation camps, donations for the needy, medical support for economically backward, etc. These activities form an integral part of the holistic development of our students. On the occasion of Indira Foundation Day (5th September), students organized a blood donation camp across Indira. A money collection drive was also launched on this occasion.
