Houston: Renowned real estate and oil and gas entrepreneur Younas Chaudhary has announced the release of his highly anticipated book, Path to Wealth and Wisdom: 100 Commonsense Tips for Self-Growth and Fulfillment. In it, Chaudhary provides practical tips, lessons and reflections drawn from the ups and downs of his own journey on his way to becoming a self-made millionaire.
The book is comprised of 100 brief chapters featuring actionable takeaways about life, business and finance. Dictums such as “Keep meetings short,” “A bottle of Coke can be a luxury” and “7 tips to save money at home” are building blocks that are easy for readers to remember, implement, and adapt to their own individual circumstances.
Raised in a remote village in Pakistan, Younas Chaudhary built several successful businesses in the U.S. and Canada using a mix of common sense, hard work, consistency, and determination. When he first landed in Edmonton, Alberta, in late 1973, Chaudhary had only $30 in his pocket. To change the trajectory of his life, he worked day in and out, rising up from a slaughterhouse worker to a landman, to a successful entrepreneur. Then, just when he thought he had it all, tragedy struck when his wife Bushra was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and dementia.
This book follows the author’s first autobiographical work, From Dirt Roads to Black Gold, offer-
ing his tools and tips for productivity, finance and business — the same ones that allowed Chaudhary to establish himself as a visionary businessman in the volatile oil and gas industry. In it, readers will find practical business and financial advice, as well as wisdom for facing the unexpected twists and turns of life. All proceeds from the sale of Path to Wealth & Wisdom will benefit charitable causes supported by the YBC Foundation (http://ybcfoundation.com).
In addition to his roles as a successful entrepreneur and author, Chaudhary is known for his dedication to philanthropy and community development. His commitment to empowerment and positive change is reflected in both his business endeavors and his writing.
“The format is ideal for readers who are looking for a few quick tips and points of reflection throughout their day,” said Chaudhary, who added that this book will primarily appeal to entrepreneurs, readers interested in motivational business techniques, and those seeking practical business and financial advice. “But this book is not just about money,” he said.
“It’s about personal growth and finding your purpose in life.”
Peppered with encouragement, humility, and humor, Chaudhary’s insights on how to develop a growth mindset, overcome limiting beliefs, and achieve one’s full potential come from a place of experience and authenticity. From his education in a dilapidated
school in Pakistan; to living with 23 others and an array of farm animals in a bustling home (a haveli); to his first sundry work experiences in the West; to the trials and tribulations of the oil and gas industry, Chaudhary has been at the top and at the bottom — with as many struggles as victories.
For those just beginning their journey toward financial freedom or those simply looking to take their lives to the next level, Path to Wealth & Wisdom offers a nononsense starting point from a man who took on the world with just a few dollars and a dream.
“This book is for those who have ever doubted themselves or their abilities,” Chaudhary added. “My message is simple: perseverance, consistency, and self-belief will make you successful.”

Houston: The uplifting vibrations of the Maha Mrtyunjaya Mantra and its inspiring significance filled the Chinmaya Smrti hall, spread into the Saraswati Nilayam, and permeated the premises of Chinmaya Prabha.
From August 19th to 23rd, when Swami Swaroopanandaji, the global head of Chinmaya Mission, elaborated on the potent Maha Mrtyunjaya Mantra, the audience gathered in large numbers and listened in devoted attention.
The powerful mantra has always been chanted as a fervent prayer to protect those in ill-health and distress. However, when Swami Swaroopanandaji delved into the import of each word of that mantra, he brought to everyone’s understanding its different expanded
dimensions.
Beginning with how the Maha Mrtyunjaya mantra was revealed to the renowned sage Vasista, Swamiji highlighted that the mantra’s vibrations shield anyone who chants it properly with deep reverence. Explaining that fear of death is really the fear of change, of impermanence, of suffering and limitedness, Swami Swaroopanandaji encouraged all to turn fear of change into motivation for reaching higher toward true immortal happiness.
The audience was deeply inspired to contemplate on the compassionate, corrective, and omniscient three-eyed Lord Siva as Swami Swaroopanandaji unveiled the multiple symbolisms embedded in the single word “Tryambakam.” A
mere glimpse into the potential of that word could lead seekers to an appreciation of how worship of Bhagavan can purify through loving surrender and grateful sharing. The five evenings of the yajna were a time of unbroken bliss as Swamiji focused on each word of the Maha mantra and amplified its meaning. When he spoke about the divine fragrance of Bhagavan Siva and His immense power to nourish the secular and spiritual within us, the audience could recognize that every word of the Maha Mrtyunjaya Mantra was indeed a concentrated invocation.
To muse over effortless liberation through the Mantra’s exquisite simile of how a ripe cucumber is released from a dried stalk was one of the subtlest takeaways of this jnana yajna. The audience felt moved as Swamiji described how the great goal of Liberation is evident in Nature; when we forget to let go, we put ourselves in the choking grip of attachment and death. Truly, we need the benevolent Grace of the divine Gardener to free us from our entangled, diseased state of life and raise us to immortality.

Houston: On The grand inauguration of Agastya Gurukulam’s Houston Campus held on August 27 was a resounding success, captivating attendees with its traditional ceremony.
The Houston community applauded the unique concept of the world’s first Samskritam medium modern school. Several dignitaries and local leaders congratulated and expressed their support for the Samskritam medium school.
Pearland, tX: On August 20, Sri Meenakshi Temple Society (MTS) celebrated its Annual Donor Appreciation Banquet at the temple Kalyana Mandapam, in Pearland TX. This Gala was to recognize, appreciate and thank all the donors of the “Go Green Solar and Security Enhancement & Beautification Project”.
The GGS-SEB project undertaken by the MTS Board, is four-fold. It is designed to reduce power consumption by around 60 percent and thereby reduce the Temple’s operating costs considerably, enhance the current Security system, build a spectacular archway in front of the main entrance and a smaller one in front of the Rajagopuram, and beautify the temple’s landscape to be more vibrant, enchanting, inviting and aesthetically pleasing to the eye. This project, a daunting task in the beginning, with the enthusiastic support of many devotees
and generous donors, will soon be completed. The term “Sampurnam”, thus is so fitting, as the theme of the night’s Gala. The Board’s focus at the event as such, was to recognize these donors.
The Chairman of the Board, Vinod Reddy Kaila, welcomed and addressed about 300 guests present and spoke eloquently and expressed his gratitude. He thanked the donors for their generous contribution, without which such a dream would not have come true.
Secretary Sriram also gave a summary of all the additional tasks undertaken and completed in the past two years. Treasurer Dr. Alagappan presented a clear financial report about the budget for both initiatives, the total funds collected since project inception in August 2022, the outstanding pledges still to be collected, and how the funds will be expensed.
Dr. Appan, a longtime supporter of MTS, a stalwart, a Godfather to
the MTS community, and a leading member of the Fund-Raising Committee, had loving words of gratitude for the donors. He emphasized the importance of Seva, that every dollar donated, and every act of service performed, was a step closer to God. He also recognized and thanked the “anonymous” donors for their big hearts. The beautiful pastel shades and candlelight décor by Houston’s “Touch of Elegance”, was truly a touch of elegance. A lavish and sumptuous dinner was provided by Bombay Brasserie. The grand gala also included a live music concert by Houston’s “Ragas”, who kept the audience on their toes with a variety of nostalgic songs from the 60’s onwards.
A silent Auction throughout the evening also brought in a decent sum to add towards the project. All in all, it was gratifying in every way, and it was easy to walk away with a feeling of “Sampurnam”.
The event commenced with a traditional lamp lighting, symbolizing enlightenment. A havan and traditional aksharabhyas ceremony were performed but with a unique touch - the children were the yajamaans, chanting the shlokas throughout.
Dignitaries and scholars graced the occasion, highlighting the school’s importance in preserving the rich heritage of the Sanskrit language and culture. The Mukhya Atithi - Dr. Raj Vedam - spoke about the dissemination of Indic knowledge systems across the world over centuries, and challenges with distinguishing the authenticity of historical facts regarding ancient knowledge. Children and adults alike listened with rapt attention to the rich content of his talk.
The Agastya Gurukulam Board Chair, founder and visionary, Dr. Archana Purshotham, showcased
the school’s commitment to holistic education via a diverse curriculum, environmental awareness, parent engagement, and community initiatives. She emphasized the relevance of Samskritam and Indic knowledge systems in modern times.
The ceremony’s success heralds a promising journey for the institution, dedicated to nurturing linguistic and cultural traditions while fostering academic excellence. Gurukulam is located in VPSS Haveli, 11715 Bellfort Village St, Houston, TX 77031. robbinsville, nJ: On August 25, devotees from across North America paid tribute to the life, work, and values of their beloved, late spiritual leader, His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The emotionally stirring assembly was part of the ongoing Festival of Inspirations, a three-month-long celebration of the inauguration of the BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham in Robbinsville, New Jersey.
The program was held in the presence of His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the current spiritual head of BAPS, who personally recalled memorable moments from Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s life.
Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s divine qualities of humility, selflessness, and unconditional love came to light as the inspiring recollections illustrated his virtues rooted in a deep connection with God.
Throughout the evening, swamis affectionately reminisced on their personal experiences and memories with Pramukh Swami Maharaj. They shared heartfelt incidents with their late spiritual leader that touched them deeply and transformed their lives. Warmly recalling his calmness, presence of mind, and noble sentiments, the swamis exemplified how, no matter who he was with, Pramukh Swami Maharaj loved everyone with equal warmth and care.
Pujya Aksharvatsaldas Swami, a renowned orator from BAPS, shared the following metaphor: “If
one holds a flower and later sets the flower aside, the fragrance of the flower may still linger on the hand. In a similar manner, the essence of Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s divine qualities spread to anyone who was near to him.”
Having served and worshiped in close proximity with Pramukh Swami over decades, Sadguru Pujya Ishwarcharandas Swami, a senior swami of the organization, further elaborated on the spiritual head’s humility by saying, “Despite his many great accomplish-
ments throughout his lifetime, Pramukh Swami Maharaj attributed all of his achievements entirely to God’s will.”
His Holiness
Mahant Swami Maharaj candidly shared his experiences with Pramukh Swami Maharaj, who remained ever humble. He emphasized Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s unwavering commitment, in every moment of his life, to the vow of service he took decades earlier. “We are all witnesses to how he lived and what he did for devotees and swamis. He was a true swami, remaining ordinary despite his extraordinary nature. Every action Pramukh Swami Maharaj took benefited future generations.
Whether day or night, he overlooked his physical needs and stayed amongst his devotees.”
The program welcomed honored guests, who fondly recalled personal incidents from their time with Pramukh Swami Maharaj and the impact he had on their lives. Subhash Sam Patel, CEO of the Natson Hotel Group, shared a turning point in his life when he was questioning his engineering career path, and Swami guided him to pursue business.
“Our success has come from Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s advice. I tell my son, if you want to learn discipline, then learn it from Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s life.”
Thereafter, Digvijay Danny Gaekwad, founder of Danny Gaekwad Developments and Investments, relayed his experience as part of the American delegation accompa-
nying former President Bill Clinton to Gandhinagar Akshardham to meet Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Detailing a moment in which both spoke in their native languages without translators, Gaekwad was awestruck. “They spoke different languages, but they were still connected. This can only happen if you are God or close to God.”
The BAPS Swaminarayan Akshardham, which is nearing the end of its construction and slated to be inaugurated in October 2023, was Pramukh Swami Maharaj’s last wish. It was inspired by his singular vision and guidance. Each volunteer who has offered his or her time in its construction has done so, in part, as a tribute to Pramukh Swami Maharaj, to ensure his vision to build a place of lasting peace and inspiration, becomes a reality. The program served as a testament to the fact that while Pramukh Swami Maharaj may no longer be present physically, his legacy will live on for generations to come. Watch future events from the Festival of Inspirations LIVE at https://na.baps.org.
