FINE METAL CASTING 2
Embark on your next casting adventure and learn how to make silicone molds to create multiples of cast jewelry pieces! Instruction begins with creating a mold from a cast piece then planning and cutting your rubber mold to release the original. You will then inject wax into the mold and cast multiples. Try your hand at creating geometrically gorgeous works of art! As the main focus of this class, Intarsia is an advanced lapidary technique where many colors and types of gemstones are cut and put together to form one-of-a-kind designs and pictures. Students will learn to saw, lap grind, cement, and mount precise stone combinations in a simple box bezel. Using burs, gravers, and other setting tools students will be able to create a variety of stone settings including tubes, tapered cones, collets, crowns, and baskets.
