The berthing facilities inside Indira Dock of Mumbai Port built in 1914 were suitable for the 20th Century. The width of the lock gate of 28m is too narrow for today's oceangoing vessels. So AECOM propose transferring cargo operations to the new 700m long, 10m deep draught OCT berth, retaining Hughes Dock and a turning circle for ship repair. Citizens of Mumbai need a Marina and leisure waterfront. We appeal to Mumbai Port to create a super marina in the northern part of Indira Dock separating it from Ship repair to the south and cargo at erstwhile Princes and Victoria Docks.
