Reflections
Dog House 1
Strength: ✗ I have understand how to use the basics and useful tools such as rectangle and line to be able to create different forms and shapes. Opportunities: ✗ For the next practices, I will be able to handle the basics to evolve my projects and express my imagination more easily. Weaknesses: ✗ As a first project and a beginner, my biggest weakness is that I am limited in the use of the tools. Threats: ✗As I will go deeper in the learning of SketchUp, I should be mindful of what I have learned previously.

Strengths: ✗ Succeed to use basic tools in order to create a space that works. Plus the introduction of push/pull tool, offset.. has added complexity and make the work more attractive. Weaknesses: ✗ I should try to duplicate more the things that I have created in order to be faster in my work. Moreover, I should let my creativity expresses itself. Opportunities: ✗ Now that I know how to manage the basics and that I have learned other tools, I should keep on in order to realize more elaborate structures. Threats: ✗ See at Weaknesses.
Crazy cubes arrays
Reflections Strengths: ✗ Successfully create cube, transformed it into a component and replicated multiple times to create this complex array. ✗ Zoomed into the array, turned my shadows on, and place several human figures for scale to create a dramatic shot. Challenges: ✗ I need to learn how to use rapid visualization techniques to hand draw something similar to what I produced in SketchUp.

Floor Pattern Study
High angle perspective view
Reflections Strengths: ✗ Keep practicing tools like offset, layers and groups had helped me to understand more how to handle them. Plus, adding scenes and animation had created a new dimension which make it more realistic.
Two point perspective
Weaknesses: ✗ I should practice animations in order to make scenes better. And why not widen floor patterns too. I sometimes found trouble when I wanted to reproduce a pattern. Opportunities: ✗ Creating those floors patterns widen my ability in the use of SketchUp. Threats: ✗ I succeed creating scenes and animation, although it still a complicated tool to me which I still need to figure out.

Reflections Strengths: ✗Creating something more steady and interesting. The evolution of the work in several steps helps in the creation and also shows the complexity. Weaknesses: ✗ I had trouble to take risk using tools that I wasn’t confident with and maybe results as a lack of originality. Top view

Opportunities: ✗I really appreciated this project. Therefore it had brought me ideas about I could recreate another existing place and Threats: ✗ I should be mindful of the details as I keep creating in order to avoid little mistakes that can twist my work and create problems as I continue. Reflections
Front view
Strength: ✗ I had a pretty good understanding of the adding mode when I wanted to add or modify into each part from the Malevich painting support that he imported. Moreover, starting creating on SketchUp from am imported picture helped me to be more creative. Weaknesses: ✗ However I had a layer problem with one of my object related to the add mode. I shouldn’t forget to triple click whenever I want to modify a group I have created.

Opportunities: ✗ In class, we discovered the x-ray mode which helps during the construction. Plus, the added mode with the push/pull tool that can create another push/pull plane on a existing face. Threats: ✗ I should keep practicing my rotate tool, it is a pretty difficult tool to understand to me, I have to get better at it.

Wall Study
Strength: ✗ I successfully designed each walls in order to create different feelings. In addition, I was careful with the dimensions to have a proportionate and harmonious work. Weaknesses: ✗ I sometimes wasn’t efficient with the use of the copy tool. By selecting imprecisely I Had to do things again. Opportunities: ✗ We discovered in class that the move tool, without preselecting what we wanted to move, could be used as a “distortion” tool and and it allows us to make more varied designs. Threats: ✗ See weaknesses

Rapid Visualization
Reflections
Strength: ✗ I found the intersect tool very interesting. It is an easy tool to use and it allowed me to play with basic geometric forms to create different ones and new ones. Weaknesses: ✗ I found the intersect tool interesting, nevertheless I still have trouble to project how I can use it for architecture and interior design. Opportunities: ✗ Intersect can looks pretty basic, however with this tool you can create more complex designs and forms and their interactions. Threats: ✗ Manipulating forms to intersect them can sometimes be tricky if I am not careful.

Geometry of Space Study Reflections Strength: ✗ My successful practices with the intersect tool helped me to create new forms and spaces at the human scale and design different atmospheres. Weaknesses: ✗ Once intersecting I had trouble to figure out how I would designed, open, transformed it to make it relevant.

Opportunities: ✗ Intersecting was useful and helped me to build basic architectural forms, such as domes, cylindrical walls… Threats: ✗ Like my weaknesses shows it, I enjoyed creating those geometric spaces, nevertheless, I had a hard time to discovering by myself and creating new forms that I can use in my design progress. Paper Airplane Flotilla
Reflections Strength: ✗ This activity enabled me to strengthen my rotate tool, and now I am now able to understand how it works and rotate any planes or forms I want. Weaknesses: / Opportunities: ✗ The folding/rotate tool reveals, to me, to be creative tool whenever I am doing structural design and want to give it a sharper look.
Perspective view
Threats: ✗ I sometimes forgot to use the rotate tool as a design tool; unfortunately I more often use it as a practical tool, to rotate and change in a different position than in a aesthetic way.

Lattice Work
Reflections
Strength: ✗ By constructing the lattice, I successfully used my rotate tool to create a “lattice space” which I found interesting and that I like the design. Top view
Weaknesses: ✗ I should have used more my copy tool in order to make easier my work on the lattices. Opportunities: ✗ Multiplying and playing with the positions of the lattices can create a really interesting and complex space; embellished with the light and shadows on.

Pavilion with Folded Canopy
Perspective view
Reflections Strength: ✗ I have well realized this Pavilion with folded canopy respecting appropriate dimension, the folded canopy and the use of the previous tool seen in class. Weaknesses: ✗ I spent a lot of time choosing which style, color, material I wanted to give to my Pavilion but I finally find something that I like. Perspective view

Opportunities: ✗ We have discovered in class that we can change the style of the SketchUp view. (look at the cover to see the different result). Threats: ✗ I should check all my work while I still making it to make sure I didn't’t make any mistakes. Turning the camera on different views can help me.

Midterm conclusion ✗ I was looking forward to practice architecture and design as my first introduction to a modeling software (SketchUp). Indeed, as a first part of work on it, I have to say that I did not know that I would enjoy that much to create and build on SketchUp. To me, it revealed to be a tool to express better or in another way my design ideas, within challenges and discoveries that had helped me to think differently of what I can create and how I can evolve. ✗ Moreover as an opportunity for the next half of the semester, I would make a recommendation to myself: be more curious and look out for current design ideas in order to overcome my “failure” of ideas and imagination.
Introduction to Sandbox Reflections Strengths: ✗ Although this work was my the first realization with the new tool Sandbox, I fully understood the concept of it and it instantly widen the design opportunities to come. Weaknesses: ✗ Sandbox looks very useful and interesting, however I am still confused to figure out how it works.

A journey to a world of my imagination
Perspective view
This journey begins on a little stoned path,
The rolling landscape let me discover those beautiful pine trees.
…impatient to see where it ends.
which ,first, leads us to a clear and peaceful pound.
The path splits in two, which way should I go?
Those hills seems to show me where I should go…
As I turn my head on each side, I notice the lush nature.
I choose to go on the left side…
Here I am! What a house! Let’s discover it…
It looks like the house is merged into the nature,
that the house is respecting the landscape.
The view is well preserved from the first floor.
As I continue on the next floor, it seems like
This little patio enable to enjoy the nature.
I have finish my visit, let’s go back…
Let’s see inside…
the house is designed to make the landscape a priority.
I take the second path to appreciate new views.
The two paths joined to lead me to the end of this journey…
From the top of the hill, I can appreciate a last glance at the nature...
Reflections ✗ As we were first introduced to sandbox, immediately I had ideas of terrains and thought about how it can enhances and challenges architecture. ✗ Thus, I had the idea of creating a building which would be revealed by the surrounding nature. After beginning the SketchUp construction, I wanted that my terrain created with Sandbox wouldn’t “fit” with my building but that my building would be adapted to the the terrain.
✗ Therefore, I have tried to make my ideas in realization and I am quite satisfied of what I wanted and what I have made as it close to what I wanted. ✗ The association of nature, landscape and architecture is important to me because I think that it is an important resource for architects and designers that shouldn’t be neglect ; so that’s why I wanted to make it as a focus on my work.
…and a last glance at the house...

Panoramic photo of my apartment
Reflections Weaknesses: ✗ I have spent a lot of time measuring, trying to be precise and respect the dimensions and layout of my home. Moreover, I have discovered the section tool, which allowed me to cut section on my model; however I still have difficulties to manage it.
Layout
Layout with built-in’s
Complete layout with furniture
Front view
Strengths: ✗ In spite of the long time I have spent on measuring either my furniture or my apartment, I am pretty satisfied with the realistic and accurate result. In addition, for each of my furniture I have created a layer to be able to move them or put them aside whenever I change home or want to organize my space differently. ✗ I used rapid visualization to helped my modeled my furniture into SketchUp; not only to measure them but also to visualize their real shape.
List of the layers in the model
Opportunities: ✗ Indeed, while reproducing my furniture, I did use many different tool to make it as close as they look like. I have used a variety of tools that we have seen since we are using SketchUp and it was interesting to see how I could use them for the reproduction of real and precise furnishings than for random or practice exercises.

Home: re-arrangement Reflections ✗ When we first move to a place, our first thoughts of the organization of the furniture always seemed to be the more convenient for us, however it is when we think about a better layout of the space that we can find the best arrangement that works. Nevertheless, to me, when you are used to have your home organized one way it is always harder to see the new opportunities. (especially when it is your home) ✗ Thus, with the will to become an interior designer, I have tried to come up with a better layout of my home, which was to me the excited part of the work. Top view, re organized layout
✗ As a conclusion, I have tried to defined the space by the different areas and tried to solve the main problems of my apartment; such as not enough light within the living area, need to define a bedroom space‌
