WALKING THROUGH THE LIMIT Projects Selection UPV THE HARBOUR. Place of exchanges, of vague borders and infinite landscapes. Previous step of dreams with countless limits to go through. Within an enclave of infinite possibilities, the proposal is set up with the aim of promoting encounters and social relationships. This non-conflictive coexistence between a productive use of the port and a playful use, linked to the city, is established with the intention of extending the reception to both citizens and passengers. The global organization of the project is based on a multidirectional fluidity. The objective is to generate dynamism in the way the users go through the infrastructures. This fact invites them to interact with spaces, becoming a participant of the architectural project. We are introducing a project in which the spatial quality and complex circulation are pursued actively through visual relationships of interest, always trying to maintain a structural and bioclimatic logic according to current energy requirements.

OLD CENTER HOTEL Projects Selection UPV Located in a historical environment in the city of Valencia, the project is developed paying attention to the most close and relevant points that characterize the location. The starting point seeks to achieve a historical value enhancement throught the architecture. In that way, we prioritize both visual and physical connections between the different public spaces that surround our intervention area. In order to reach this point, the proposal is to provide two extended blocks that promote the east-west physhical conecction. On the other hand, we promote the north-south visual conexion between the smaller square and the dome through a gap that divide the two blocks. The inner layout is supported by the geometry, leaving the smaller resulting spaces for service, while the largest areas are used to place the rooms.

TEMPORAL HOUSING Projects Selection UPV The project idea is born from the analysis of the place itself. Starting from the premise of wanting to open the building to the southeast and close it to the northwest, due to both visual and orientation interests, we will play with the volumes to achieve this goal, creating a gradation in both height and building density. We create a group of buildings characterized by the full and empty spaces that are visible in its facade. The full ones will represent the houses and the empty will be common spaces for users. With respect to the ground floor, it will remain free in order to create a series of green spaces and to leave trees grow up till the first floor. In fact, it’s about collective housing blocks for foreigners with great spatial, structural and circulation quality, without losing the essence of the initial idea that governs the general urban layout.

ACCORDIONLY IFA. International Finsa awards Accordionly is a module of tetra pack material, made up of several layers of paper, plastic and aluminum, folded like an accordion, and attached to a rib of pine wood, which can extend a maximum of 6 meters longitudinal with a fixed width of 2 , 5 meters, adapting according to the needs to different lengths by opening the module. The addition of modules allows to enlarge the dimensions in width and length. The folds of the material that make up the body stiffen the module, including the floor. Every 6 meters, a box, conformed to the shape of the module, made of wood with autoclave treatment for exteriors, finishes stiffening the set and also provides a double functionality since it enables the various services needed like toilets, shelves, storage, entrance doors, ventilation windows etc. In order to make a treadable floor, a carpet-like sheet made with wooden slats is supported on the cited folds. The materials used are totally rec clable and reusable. So that, we achieve a recyclable, viable, easy to assemble, economic, durable, temporary, flexible, and buildable project.

ACCORDIONLY MAIN CONCEPT
Today, the Cold War is finished, however, a great deal of ethnic and regional conflicts take place in the world , creating an unprecedented number of refugees; homeless people in their own country. In addition, natural disasters that destroy homes and the lifes of people who suffer them seem to be increasing. The way in which architects serve society, especially minorities, can become a relevant factor in defining the character of this era...

FRACTAL NATURE Design competition in La Fe Hospital The ideas competition for the University and Polythecnic Hospital La Fe: Color and Interior Architecture, aims to promote the visual comfort of patients, answering to the functional, compositional, aesthetic, cultural and any other aspects that converge in the design of the interior space, taking as a starting point the previous interventions carried out in the Medical Image Area that use nature as an artistic reference. The starting point of the intervention has been the local nature, specifically the Valencian tradition for the orange trees cultivation. Once taken this decision, we wanted to put in value the identity of the city and its colors. To materialize this idea we have worked with the concept of fractality, with self-similar elements, its form is made from smaller copies of the same figure, which follows a recursive algorithm. The first element we have used in the intervention is the image that represents the orange trees and brings us closer to nature outside the hospital. The second element is the hexagons that form the movable separators and the third element is the serparator itself that is constructed as a hexagon and so on until the complete space intervention is achieved. OPEN STAGE IN MADRID Tándem Madrid-parís The main idea of the project is to experiment about how energy self-sufficiency becomes a trigger for activation, promotion and co-management of citizen activities in public spaces. The solar energy accumulated in the devices storage systems are not only designed for individual use of mobile phone or computer load, but also to explore new collective uses such as the summer cinema or a small concert associated with the open stage device. Another future alternative gravitates around the possibility of generating a calendar of possible activities that may include the events of the formal and informal neighborhood associations. In that case, the “eventual” can become “habitual” and not in a state of exception or in a way of appropriating the public space always linked to the institution. Access to energy can be a first step in the process of appropriation of public space by a large number of citizen initiatives, experimenting towards a hybrid model of management between the City Council and the neighborhood, with new ways of co-management and use of space public. EL GRAN SAN BLAS Madrid Regenera The starting point is the idea of a Citizen laboratory experienced in different areas of culture and urbanism in the city of Madrid as a fundamental tool for urban co-design and experimentation of the eight free public spaces resulting from the strategic approach of the intervention area. A citizen laboratory is a homely space capable to assemble the diversity and to metabolize misunderstandings in order to build new forms of criticism. A citizen laboratory is a place of production of new ways of visualizing, mapping and representing problems. A citizen laboratory is a work space oriented to the production of urban prototypes. It is a space for learning to live together and, consequently, the most characteristic place for experimental politics. EQUILIBRIUM THE DRAWING OF THE YEAR Today’s society evolves at an unprecedented speed and consequences are yet to be discovered. It’s hard to figure out the evolution and sustainability of this tendency in a long term. For that reason, a transition towards a balanced society is required. This drawing shows two completely opposite scenes. One represents an advanced but chaotic society while the other symbolizes the unspoilt nature. The equilibrium between both landscapes shapes a sustainable reality. Technological advances are important but taking care of what let us breathe is essential. No balance, no future.
