NOTIFICATION OF CLUSTERS OF INFECTION

Although not Notifiable, clusters of infection (even single cases) can have significant public health implications. Such infections should be reported to the local HPU or proper officer (local authority) promptly.

Common examples include (but are not restricted to):

Varicella (chicken-pox) cases in HCWs Influenza two or more cases Scabies two or more cases Viral diarrhoea / vomiting two or more cases C. difficile diarrhoea two or more cases
