SOCCER & TRACK FACILITY AUBURN UNIVERSITY

Not only will we have a great facility for our team and coaches, but it also shows a total commitment from the University to the track and field program. It will give us a real boost in recruiting because it will show potential student-athletes that we’re making a commitment to providing them with the best possible opportunity to be successful. Having a showcase facility like this really sends a statement that our facilities will be second to none.

This new facility is a 21,961 SF two-story building with a steel frame and masonry and precast veneer. The mechanical system is supplied by 39 geothermal wells and is currently pursuing either LEED Gold or Platinum level by the USGBC. The facility houses the offices, training rooms, locker rooms, team rooms and support spaces for the Men’s and Women’s Track teams and the Women’s Soccer team. It overlooks both Auburn’s competition track and soccer fields. This project was built by a single prime contractor and Infinity Architecture actively participated in the construction administration from ground breaking to closeout.

Our soccer and track and field programs have “ demonstrated a commitment to excellence not only athletically but also academically. Having a facility like this will help elevate our programs to continue to compete for championships at the SEC and NCAA level. Two of our five goals are winning and graduating our studentathletes. A facility like this will certainly help us obtain a couple of our goals, if not all of them.

Jay Jacobs, Auburn University Athletic Director

AUM WELLNESS CENTER AUBURN UNIVERSITY MONTGOMERY As Auburn University at Montgomery has grown and the number of on-campus residents increased, AUM’s administration recognized the need for a comprehensive facility to support a healthy lifestyle for its community. The award winning AUM Wellness Center is dedicated to fitness, wellness, intramural activities and human performance research. AUM desired a facility at the campus’s main entrance that makes a statement to students and the community affirming its commitment to lifelong wellness. The initial building concept grew out of a “bend and stretch” diagram as a metaphor for exercise and wellness, focused on openness and transparency to promote facility usage. It includes a gymnasium for intramural basketball, volleyball, badminton and similar sports, as well as an indoor pool with fitness and social areas. Multiple exercise areas have state-of-the-art equipment. There is a 25’ climbing wall, running track, stretching areas and multi-purpose rooms. An outdoor patio area at the south end includes a spa and bocce ball court. The academic portion of the facility includes two classrooms, faculty offices and state-of-the-art human performance laboratories.

AUM WELLNESS CENTER AUBURN UNIVERSITY MONTGOMERY The project is pursuing LEED Silver certification. There is abundant daylight throughout and automated lighting controls monitor occupancy, promote daylight harvesting and minimize energy usage and artificial lighting. The HVAC system includes super-efficient chillers with electromagnetic bearings, minimizing maintenance and energy usage while providing durability. Roof drains collect rainwater and direct it to a bioswale on the east side of the building that dissipates much of the water on site and minimizes discharges to the city storm drainage system.

The construction of the indoor practice facility provided an opportunity to expand Auburn’s weight room and connect it to the practice building. Infinity worked closely with the University and the CM to develop a plan that met stringent code requirements and the project phasing schedule. The result: an integrated facility on time and in budget.

TENNIS FACILITY AUBURN UNIVERSITY

The new facility is going to benefit every facet of our program. The building will be used for game preparations and on game days with brand new locker rooms. It will allow our current student-athletes to come together more often, and will help for recruiting purposes as well.

Karen Hoppa AU Head Soccer Coach

Intercollegiate athletic programs are an integral part of today’s Colleges & Universities. Successful athletic programs generate revenue, increase financial contributions and improve the image of the university as a whole. BUILDING A QUALITY PROGRAM Many components contribute to building a quality athletic program; facility design is a major factor in that process. There’s a strong correlation between facility design and program operation. Our goals are efficiency, value and a safe, functional, inspiring environment for athletes, coaches, and visitors. FACILITY GOALS A great place for athletes, coaches and staff. Flexible. Everything the budget will allow. Cutting edge. Delivered on time.
