Your store will easily stand out from its neighbors when you add a banner in front of it. Re-arrange your interior. Visual merchandising and store staging can deeply affect your sales.

For office lobbies with glass doors and windows, install etched glass decals to give them a beautiful and professional frosted appearance. These are just a few ideas to get your wheels spinning. Keep in mind, your main goal is to get the word out about your business, and it’s not just about flashy clearance sales. Little things like displaying a simple banner can make all the difference in helping your business bloom!

Pre-natal Massage Therapy Spring has finally started to arrive! The days are longer, warmer and slowly becoming sunnier. One thing I’ve noticed about the spring season is the increasing number of beautiful bundles of joy. Families and their loved ones are either announcing the birth of their babies or are overjoyed to announce their pregnancies. Whether you are 12 weeks or 30 weeks along, it is never too late to give our young ones the best care possible. The season of spring cleaning is the perfect time to start better caring for our bodies and our health (and that of our babies too). Pre-natal massage therapy is a safe, effective form of healthcare that helps to improve quality of life for both mother and baby.

What is pre-natal massage therapy? This form of therapy was named “prenatal massage” because the treatment focuses on symptoms caused by pregnancy. Many of the techniques that are used during a pregnancy massage are also used in a Swedish or therapeutic treatment. Pre-natal massage therapy aims to relax muscle tension and improve circulation through light to mild pressures applied to various soft tissues of the body. This is the recommended method for treatment because it addresses many of the common discomforts and hormonal changes associated with the body during pregnancy.

What can pre-natal massage help with? An increased load on the back and hips often causes spinal deviations and postural deformities which will result in tension and pain in the neck, lower back, hips and feet. The increase in pressure often causes surrounding tissues to spasm, swell and compress nearby nerves. For example, sciatic nerve pain is common in the later stages of pregnancy because the uterus rests on the pelvic floor muscles. Massage therapy is effective in decreasing musculoskeletal pain, inflammation and nerve compression.

Swelling and fluid retention is due to an increased demand on the cardiovascular system to supply blood and lymphatic fluids to both the mother and baby. Hypertension causes smaller blood and lymphatic vessels to collapse and fail to properly exchange body fluids. This often happens in the extremities because they withstand the most pressure and even more commonly in the lower limbs due to gravity. Pre-natal massage therapy is also effective in encouraging a healthy labour by easing muscular and connective tissue restrictions in the lower back and hips. It enhances the function of muscles and joints by relaxing tension and lengthening restricted muscles, ligaments or tendons. To summarize; the benefits of massage therapy can include but do not limit themselves to: • Aids in stress management • Encourages hormone balance and mood regulation • Decreases anxiety and pre/post partum depression • Decreases pain and stiffness of muscles and joints • Reduces muscle tension and spasm • Improves circulation • Temporarily reduces blood pressure • Decreases swelling/fluid retention • Aids in the restoration of normal posture and muscle balance • Lowers the risk of complications during or after labour Massage therapy is a safe and effective way to introduce alternative methods to your pre-natal healthcare routine. Pet grooming is more important than you may realize H

Regular brushing and grooming are necessary to maintain the pet’s good health. This is for all dogs and cats. The pet’s coat consists of two types of hair. The soft undercoat and the outer guard coat. The hair eventually dies and is replaced with the new growth. The dead hair must be removed, even in the “non-shedding” breads. Removing the dead hair with a good brush, comb and rake stimulates circulation and releases necessary oils in the skin. Not doing so can cause itchy skin and scratching. Brushing facilitates new hair growth. It also prevents tangling of the hair called “matting”, which can be very painful for animals. Even when a groomer has to shave it out, the skin is very sensitive at first. Pets are also groomed to reduce the odors associated with our four legged friends. Some breeds are more prone to odors, such as hounds, due to their protective oily skins. Odors can also

be caused by poor diets or the environment and results in skin problems. The easiest non-medical solution for the odor problem is cleanliness. Pets are taken to a groomer for the owner’s convenience, either because the owner has limited time to groom at home, or limited space to bathe, etc. Grooming a pet can also reduce shedding, and allergies. Easter the Celebration of Life

Though some may not think of Easter as a religious holiday celebrating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, it certainly was never meant to become the time of baby chick, duckling and bunny abuse. So why is it that every year at Easter time, thousands of these two-week old, tiny babies are subjected to inhumane exploitation? They are crammed into crates and transported around the country, dyed various colours and sold as 'ornaments' or 'gifts' for our children? These are real, living babies. BABIES. All babies of any species deserve to be treated with love and care as they transition through this most delicate time of their lives. They are not meant to be unmindfully mauled and squeezed by children too young to understand their fragility. The natural life-span of these Easter casualties is up to sixteen years, not just a long weekend! Yet statistics show that 95% of them never live much past the holiday. This is because people who buy them don't know how to care for them as living beings. Some people automatically bring these babies home at Easter simply because it's always been a tradition in their family.

If this is your case, please re-think a family tradition where babies can suffer and die from lack of proper care and extreme stress. These baby chicks and bunnies are usually gifted to very young children who have no business being put into the position of caregiver, responsible for the life of a living, feeling, baby animal. If your child is too young for the responsibility of a puppy or kitten, they are too young for the even more delicate, ‘Easter chick/duckling/bunny.’ Teach your children compassion by starting new traditions more in tune with today's better informed world. I've never met a child who didn't squeal with equal delight from a colourful, stuffed toy or chocolate bunny. If the well-being of these animals is not your top priority, perhaps the well-being of your family members are. An alert from the CDC (Center for Disease Control) will make you think twice about this Easter practise. Did you know that these baby birds sold at Easter often carry harmful bacteria called Salmonella? Each spring, children are exposed to possible infection simply by cuddling or petting them, not realizing what a droplet of unseen, feather-hidden feces can hold. Also at risk for getting this salmonella poisoning are pregnant women, the elderly and other immune-compromised people. Are you willing to risk the health of your own beloved, family members? Jesus chose to die for our sins, not baby chicks, ducklings and bunnies. So please, if you do choose to bring one of these babies into your home, do the right thing. Be sincerely prepared and fully committed to proper care, so this new family member can be around for a good, long time.
