Add Products And Services During slow times, your very instinct might be to cut corners, but in the case of your catalog of products and services this could spell disaster. Instead, you want to select additions carefully based on the needs and desires of your clients. Think of it this way: let's say you provide web design services. Your client hires you for the design work, then goes elsewhere to get a logo, hosting, and content. Having to hire four different companies just to complete one project is not costeffective or time-efficient for your client. So what if you could offer web design and hosting or web design and everything else necessary as well? Chances are you'd have a definite advantage over your competition. Even if you don't have the skills or ability to handle those aspects of the project, you could team up with other companies like yourself who also want to boost business and give themselves a competitive edge. No matter what product or service you primarily provide, you could find ways to provide additional necessities to your clients. Keep A Positive Attitude Times are hard. Your nerves are on edge. You're feeling the pressure. When a past client calls to ask how things are going, do you tell them the truth and hope they take pity on you? Do you wallow in a self-defeating attitude? NO! If you want to get through the hard times, you have to keep in mind two things:

1) No one is going to do business with a failing company and 2) Hard times are only temporary. Let's think about this. If you called up a company about business and the representative says, "It will be great to be finally getting some new clients" or "Things have been horribly slow around here lately" are you going to trust them with your project? No. The first thing you are going to be wondering is why they haven't been doing well. And that's what your potential clients will wonder about you as well. So how do you keep from breaking down on the phone with your clients? By remembering that business is a cycle and just as things are bad now, they will turn around and you will be doing well again. The only thing permanent is giving up. Market More Business is slow; budgets are tight. So what usually gets trimmed first? Marketing. Do you know what the results are? Disaster! When you conduct marketing, you are not selling yourself to generate business today or even tomorrow. Marketing is an investment in your business's future. In fact, research has shown that most marketing efforts don't pay off for at least six months. So think about that. Let's say you cut back on marketing in June and you weather the economic down cycle, what's going to happen in December? Absolutely nothing! Because all of your potential clients have been won over by the marketing efforts of your competition which were conducted during the summer. Instead of cutting back, a slow down is the time to boost marketing. Get back in touch with past clients, attend seminars, pass out flyers. After all, if work is slow, what else are you going to be spending your time doing?

DECORATING FOR CHRISTMAS

(Article by Ellen Bell)

Christmas Tree Decorating: How to Design a Show Stopping Tree

A

re you wanting to do something really fantastic with your Christmas tree this year? Here are a few easy steps to decorating a tree that's as unique and interesting as you are. Christmas tree decorating is more than just a family tradition; to some, it's an art form. While it's true that anyone can decorate a Christmas tree, decorating one well does require some talent, forethought and planning, and a good eye for design. To decorate a holiday tree that really stands out from the crowd, there are a few things to keep in mind and a few important design principles to put to the task. Theme: First and foremost, a really well decorated Christmas tree usually has some type of central theme that ties the design together. For example, if you are someone who enjoys baking and cooking, why not

decorate a small tree especially for your kitchen. Things like wooden spoons, cookie cutters, small spice jars, and recipe cards can make very charming ornaments, and most importantly, they all serve to anchor the tree to one specified decorating theme. Colour: A well decorated holiday tree should not be a pandemonium of colours, but rather, should follow one specified colour theme. If you aren't sure how to come up with a colour scheme that works, a good place to start is with a color wheel and a basic book about colour theory. Be sure to consider the colour of your tree as part of your colour scheme, too. For example, a white tree is a good backdrop for almost any colour of decorations, whereas a green tree is slightly more limiting. If you are using a traditional green tree, be sure to begin your colour scheme with green as the primary hue.

Quantity of Decorations: Holiday trees that are really striking usually feature large numbers of ornaments. Trees that are sparsely decorated rarely attract much attention. So the general rule of thumb is, if you want your Christmas tree to be a real "show stopper," be very generous with the ornamentation. Variety and Scale of Decorations: Assuming that all the decorations you've chosen for your tree follow a central decorating theme and colour scheme, variety of scale and type of very important. That is, don't go to the store, choose two or three varieties of ornaments, and simply buy 50 or 100 of each type. This tree will be decked out with a lot of ornaments, true; however, they will all be mostly the same thing, which is visually boring. Instead, try to choose a variety of different ornaments that all fall within your specified colour scheme and

theme. Be sure to consider the sale of decorations, too. It's easy to end up with a tree that features only 3 inch ornaments. Try to select a wide variety of sizes and shapes. Element of Uniqueness: Last but not least, try to find at least one or two things about your tree that can be extremely unique or comment-worthy. These elements of interest can be almost anything; your imagination really is the limit. For example, one interesting finishing touch to your tree might be to add large feathers in your specified colour scheme, sticking out from all different parts of the tree. This is not only visually interesting, but also a very unique touch. Whatever distinctive final touches you put on the treeFree Articles, try to keep it honed within your decorating theme.

PET LOVERS

But Bowser, It's Cold Outside!

I

f you're a pet lover like me, you're concerned about your charges keeping warm when outside in these frigid, wintery temperatures. As the deep freeze arrives, I've seen dogs of every size and breed out sporting the latest fashions in overcoats as well as footwear. Here's what you need to know! Dogs who really do need protection from the elements are those who are old and/or infirmed. They just don't have the stamina anymore, needed to keep themselves warm. Mexican Hairless Dogs, Whippets and Italian Greyhounds along with certain toy breeds are examples of healthy dogs who could also use protection from the elements. Please do give these dogs the extra protection they need!

“Pet Adoption Corner” Sponsored by the Easyfinder

Otherwise, nature has well equipped your canine friend to stay warm. Short-haired dogs do not need extra protection with man-made coats as long as you are reasonable in their outside time. The dry air experienced inside of homes tend to make Bowser's fur shed. Therefore, he doesn't have quite the same fur-coat he used to sport when he was sitting at the cave's edge, with his best-friend, Neanderthal man. If there are extreme weather warnings that skin will freeze in less than five minutes, keep your dog's outdoor time to a minimum. Please use common sense and don't take him from inside your warm home and leave him sitting outside on the porch shivering for an hour to do his business. He can suffer from frost-bite. Chances are, he’ll do his business quick enough! Unless he’s a Nordic breed or one already accustomed to colder weather, he will not benefit from

being left outside alone, for more than a few moments. Booties are another story...Dog's footpads generally do very well in cold weather unless you are walking your dog on pavement that has been treated with a chemical agent to melt snow. This can cause very serious chemical burns on your dogs' feet. Salt will burn as well. If your dog has long fur between his foot-pads, check for sticking snow or ice, when he comes back inside. As this can also cause a lot of discomfort. Booties for dogs are as important in the choosing, as they are for humans. I've seen stores sell nasty rubber things that look like empty balloons and expect people to put those on their dogs! It isn't easy to judge the correct tightness and comfort in a dog's boot. If you are going to use them, make sure you have the best fit possible. Buy a natural material like leather, that is comfortable and breathable. Otherwise, you can cause a lot more damage to your pet's paws than if they were bare. Not to mention, many dogs cannot stand the feel of these boots and will spend their entire outside time trying to get them off, rather than enjoy his outing! That’s not really fair now is it? Finally, ask yourself, "Does my dog really need a coat and/or booties? Am I doing this for the care and comfort of my pet or am I trying to satisfy my own, inner fashionista?" In the end, I know you'll choose what's right for your Beloved Bowser. ~~~~

YOUR ANGEL MESSAGE

***STOP! And Smell the Snowflakes!***

W

arning! We're going from our busy lives into the busybusy season now! The time where life seems to whip up a fresh plethora of frenzied activities, and we believe we simply must feast upon it all. However, with such a tempting bounty laid out before us, we are often left, frazzled, exhausted and just a tad, short in temper. We lose the entire meaning of the holiday season by trying to do, buy and accomplish more; when, in fact, life isn't about how much of a thing was experienced, but rather, how well! So, I tuned into the angels for advice on how we can better cope during the extra-special, season of 'Light & Love,' and received this, loud and clear! The angels are here and have this to give us now: “STOP! And smell the snowflakes! Here, you will find Creator's bounty is more richly satisfying to your body, mind and soul, than any other activity you have stuffed into your list of 'todo's.' Humans have often erroneously thought that more is better. When indeed, it is slowing down and cherishing each nuance in the events, as well as, being with the people of your life, that is most nourishing. When you keep your eye, always on the next prize, you miss the gifts that were given to you in the present one. This is part of the reason why you find yourself in a continual need to keep busy, keep searching, and accumulating. All done, for that missing 'something' that is forever just outside of your reach.

We ask you, please stop...and smell the snowflakes. Have you ever done such a thing? If you had, you would notice what a beautiful, fresh and lovely scent they have. How calming, and peaceful. How beautiful, and how renewing to your spirit. But there is even more than that… We ask you! Just take a moment, only a moment, from the hustle and bustle of what you have created for yourself, and there next enjoy, what Creator has gifted upon you. Peace. Contentment. Joy. Belief in the goodness of your world and all who live in and upon it. For when you take the time to stop and smell the snowflakes, you are sending a message from your soul, to your heart, unto your conscious mind. You are trusting again ~as you did, when you first arrived~. There is a beautiful plan for you, and this world and all else! It is going perfectly, according to that plan. There is not, any need to rush, and frantically pursue that which is just out of reach. Because, if you take the time to stop and breathe, you will find that there is nothing that belongs to you, 'just outside' of your reach. Everything, that is meant for you, comes to you, in its own perfect timing; Right to you! Like a fruit, perfectly created, ripe and ready, your great good will also, drop easily into your hands. Do not rush. For that which is great, takes its time to become so, and that which is yours, will come to you, in its perfect timing. Therefore, you miss nothing, when you take the time to stop, and smell the snowflakes! Always know, you are perfectly in tune with the universe, and all the great good Creator has especially for you!” ~~~
