Liz is a native of Bathurst, New Brunswick. She is a free-hand graphic artist. Her friends know her as the accessory lady: she loves jewellery, shoes, hats, purses and scarves!

• In the 60s & 70s, Liz did posters for elementary school dances (before she was allowed to attend them) also for winter carnivals & special events (the computer has since taken over the “graphics” side of things). She organized the dance hall & did the table set-up.

• Later on, her friends liked the way she organized and displayed her accessories at home and thereby requested her help in using what they already had in their homes. They looked to her for help to de-clutter & to organize their space, as well as help them organize & accessorize their wardrobe. Then came the referrals.. • Liz prepared houses for the real estate market before “staging” became a word and was promoted on these much watched TV decorating programs. • In the mid-1980s, she had illustrations & logos for many others but had neither business name nor any business cards to hand out. In 1985, this designing mind came up with a design in mind for herself; hence her company name Design’in-Mind • Liz has lived & operated her homebusiness in Vancouver, in Ottawa, and in Brockville since she moved here with her husband in 1994.

• Liz is a member of the Brockville Newcomers Club; the Brockville Women in Business; and is a volunteer at the Rose Garden Family Support Centre.

• She has written 4 historical booklets including a pre-Loyalist history of the Brockville area: In the Garden of the Great Spirit.

• Liz offers an alternative choice in decorating: she uses what people have in their home. Her business motto is to offer clients “Maximum Impact with Minimal Investment”

• Her business card depicts her free-hand illustration: a stylish lady holding a paintbrush who’s “brain waves” are clearly reflected in her sunglasses, ready with a design in mind.
