Brain Trivia: What does the following represent: Spring—Hola Summer—Bonjour Fall—Hello Winter—Aloha (Answer at bottom) The picture to the right shows a simple way to turn a common fine motor/coordination activity into a fun cognitive activity while still addressing the fine motor/coordination components. Instead of just having patients put pegs in holes, this board has been modified using tape to allow for the playing of a problem solving game called “Hi-Q”. Begin by jumping a peg over another peg. As you jump a peg, the peg jumped gets removed. You can jump in any direction (up, down, diagonal). The object is to end up with just one peg left in the board. To simplify, remove the outside row of pegs at each end of the cross so there are only two rows of pegs present. Always place the pegs so that the center hole is left open. This can also be attached to the wall to incorporate reaching/standing/balance.
