President’s Message

Welcome to the 20th Annual Energizing Summit! 20 years ago I started

this with the hopes of bringing quality, no nonsense education to the hairdresser and I am proud to see where this journey has taken us.

We are currently in a time where anyone can go online and create

content. This can create a lot of misinformation for the stylist and the client. We need to try to keep a standard and consistency. The best way to do this is quality EDUCATION. That is where the Energizing Summit comes in. We offer small classes so you have a chance to ask questions and interact with the educators in a more personal setting. There are a variety of haircolor subjects to choose from so you can really focus on the areas you need help in most.

We have and will always fight to continue to elevate our industry and

produce excellent haircolorists. We will also provide you with a community to lift you up. We are here for you. Take advantage of the exceptional talent we have gathered this year. We look forward to your participation and encourage you to work towards being the best you that you can be. I hope to see you there!

Fast Easy Foil Techniques

Lisa McAuliffe

The object of this class is to have you thinking differently about how you place highlights in the hair and the tools with which you work. A good part of what you do is preparation. Highlighting materials, bleach, brushes and combs are all specialized tools used for highlighting. Having different sizes of everything for each of the techniques you use will give you the ability to think more creatively about what you do. We fall into a pattern, all of us do things the same way day in and day out. This class is not only fun but it will teach you to be more productive with highlighting. “In Toronto we do things differently. We have a different outlook about how we color hair. Come to my class I think you will love it.”

Sunday: 9:30am 2:00pm Monday: 11:00am 3:30pm Lecture

The Science Behind a Perfect Haircolor

Henry Owegi

Who best to learn what makes a perfect haircolor than from a cosmetic chemist? Mr. Owegi, with vast knowledge in the field of haircolor, is highly qualified to teach this class. This educational experience will give the individual an in depth knowledge on the subject of haircolor. No bells or whistles here, just hard clear facts about the chemicals we work with every day. He is the person who can separate fact from fiction better than anyone else, as he speaks in a very down to earth, understandable manner. Come to the class armed with questions.

Sunday: 11:00am 3:30pm Monday: 9:30am 2:00pm Lecture

Anatomy of Grays Formulation Are you new to the industry and your formulation and gray coverage struggles are REAL? Are you an industry veteran who needs to refresh, renew, and reevaluate your formulations? How many times a week do you wish the tint brush was a magic formulation wand? Cheryl’s class will give you the skills to become a formulating wizard . By the end of the class you will be able to formulate with confidence with any color line, understand gray coverage, problem solve, and work smarter.

Cheryl English ABCH

Sunday: 9:30 am 2:00pm Monday: 11:00am 3:30pm Lecture 22

Chemistry of Haircolor Watch Tom Dispenza make hair color, live. Watch Tom create brown, red and gold shades from the raw chemicals. Watch Tom bleach natural melanin that has been collected in test beakers in front of your eyes. Watch the stages of lightening (underlying pigment) created live and understand why the typical charts are wrong. Watch how mother nature creates light, medium and dark brown in hair and how texture plays a part in both depth and brassiness. Tom will explain why the color wheel works for an artist painting a picture but not for hair color. He will explain and demonstrate tonality Tom Dispenza like never before. This class is designed for the serious colorist who wants to truly understand the real facts of Sunday: 11:00am 3:30pm color, not the hype. Monday: 9:30am 2:00pm Lecture

Mastering Undertones Mastering undertones is having the ability to predict what the outcome of the color will be, based on the natural haircolor. This class will teach you how you can confidently use the Natural Haircolor Categories. The haircolor in the tube or bottle is a constant. The only thing that changes are undertones, and they are based on your client’s parentage and the colors the hair has gone through while growing up. You will learn to use the client consultation swatch chart and you will come away from this Courtney von Berg class with the ability to better anticipate ABCH the final color result. This is a class for Sunday: 11:00am 3:30pm the newer haircolorist and anyone seeking to become an American Board CertiMonday: 11:00am Lecture ABCH Curriculum fied Haircolorist.
