Sometimes life doesn’t go exactly as planned and that impacts your travel plans. COVID-19 took the United States by surprise in 2020 and forced a lot of happy couples to reconsider their honeymoons and destination weddings and move them to a future date.
When faced with this question, there are some important factors to consider:
Are we comfortable traveling during this time? If you’re not, then you should postpone. You want your trip to be relaxing and if you’re nervous or anxious, then it won’t be as enjoyable for you.
Is the time of year of my honeymoon or destination wedding a good time to visit the destination? For example, oftentimes couples want to go to the Greek Isles for their honeymoons; however, unless you’re traveling from May-September, then it’s not a good idea due to weather and closures.
Is there a high level of advisory for travel to/from the United States to this destination? If there is, then you should reconsider your dates. Safety is the most important factor!
Once you decide on your travel dates, it’s best to ensure that you’ve taken the appropriate steps to protect your vacation investment. Always purchase travel insurance to help protect you agaiwnst unforeseeable changes to your plans. Keep in mind, travel insurance, like medical insurance, doesn’t cover everything. Review your policy for your coverage limitations. Many credit cards offer a very low level of coverage, which isn’t adequate for international travel.
The best protection you can get is to have a travel professional assist you with these plans. Should a major disruption like COVID-19 occur, this will be invaluable to you and your sweetheart. Trying to reach the airlines and resorts can be very challenging during times of weather issues, pandemics, etc. Travel Consultants will also be able to provide you with invaluable knowledge to help you make sound decisions about your travel plans. During times like this, it’s important to have a knowledgeable, trained professional on your side.
