Sometimes life doesn’t go exactly as planned and travel plans are impacted. COVID-19 took us by surprise in 2020 and forced a lot of happy couples to reconsider their honeymoons and destination weddings and move them to a future date.

honeymoons

Once your wedding has come to an end, it’s time to focus on you and your other half. Your honeymoon is the perfect opportunity to travel somewhere you’ve never been. Luckily, our experienced travel agents will take care of the stressful bits of planning, so all you have to do is RELAX!

RW Tip: Be sure to check the expiration date on your passport!

When faced with this question, there are some important factors to consider:

• Are you comfortable traveling during this time? If not, then you should postpone. You want the trip to be relaxing and if you’re nervous or anxious, then it won’t be as enjoyable.

• Is the time of year of the honeymoon or destination wedding a

good time to visit the locale? For example, oftentimes couples want to go to the Greek Isles for their honeymoons; however, unless you’re traveling from May-September, then it’s not a good idea due to weather and closures.

• Are you comfortable with taking a Covid test prior to returning to the US and potentially before departure depending on the

destination? It’s the new way of travel right now, so it’s best to be prepared. Most resorts have a way to facilitate this easily for their guests.

Once you decide on travel dates, it’s best to ensure that you’ve taken the appropriate steps to safeguard your vacation investment. Always purchase travel insurance to help protect against unforeseeable changes to plans. Keep in mind, travel insurance, like medical insurance, doesn’t cover everything. Review the policy for coverage limitations. Many credit cards offer a very low level of coverage, which isn’t adequate for international travel. Navigating the different policies for each destination can be very challenging, so the best protection you can get is to have a professional travel advisor assist with these plans. Should a major disruption like COVID-19 occur, their services will be invaluable. Trying to reach the airlines and resorts can be very challenging during times of weather issues, pandemics, etc. Travel advisors will also be able to provide invaluable knowledge to help make sound decisions about your travel plans. During times like this, it’s important to have a knowledgeable, trained professional on your side.

MYTH:

Travel advisors cost money. This is not true. In fact, booking through an agent can save you money! Planning DIY travel is risky, especially now. Before you book on your own, contact a trusted TA to get a quote – it is worth it to know you have someone on your side if you need it.

transportation

If your wedding day is taking place at more than one venue, one of the best investments you can make is providing transportation for your guests! Not only will this keep your day on schedule, but it will also be a relief for your guests to not have to worry about parking…or having too much fun at the dance party after!
