Paradise Point welcomes Burger Lane Co!

With a tagline like “life is too short for bad burgers”, it was always bound to be love at first sight… and bite! Furthermore, life is also too short to travel for a good burger, an ongoing gripe from our northern Gold Coast folk. Well, fret no-more northerners, as finally, some clued-up (and v experienced) entrepreneurs have filled the void. And not just any old savvy folk, but THE Burger Boss’s themselves; the Burger Lane Co. food truck crew! Yep that’s right, they’ve taken their burger caper to the next level, moving into a fixed space in the ever-growing Paradise Point eats precinct. We’ve sampled their burger and American chow sorcery and OMG, you better run – not walk – to this one!

Taking up residence where another fave, Cross + Feather once lived (RIP guys), this unassuming corner of Grice Avenue has been waiting for the right peeps to swoop in and reinstate its former glory. And we have no doubt that owners Shaun Lewis, Jessica Lane (hence the ‘Lane’ part of the name) and Joseph Bartlett are the trio to do just that. And it’s quite poetic because Shaun was once a Chef at Cross + Feather, so it was fate really. But more on them a little later coz let’s talk fit-out and BURGERS baby!

This inside-outside venue is a vibe in every respect, starting with the statement yellow and lilac neon Burger Lane Co. sign illuminating the main interior black brick wall. The counter and bar are adorned in distressed white wood panels, natural wooden benchtops, and purple neon strip lighting. In amongst the wooden tables you’ll spot a couple of feature barrels with inbuilt table tops, and we really want one in our abode. Like fo’ real.

Moving on to the best part – the menus! We’re jumping head-first into The Roadie which is their signature cheese burger with beef patty, American cheddar, bacon, onion rings and smokey BBQ sauce, and why not grab LOADED fries with that! Their Buffalo Loaded Fries tick all the boxes, with fried chicken bites, buffalo sauce and blue cheese dressing. Now it’s time for our pick which is

also an early crowd pleaser – the Bug Lane. And yes guys, it is precisely what you are hoping it is; the morphing of a burger and a bug and with that, we are in actual heaven. Picture this; garlic butter, sauteed bug, cos lettuce and homemade seafood sauce and we can confirm that it’s even better in real life.

If you’re more of a hot dog kinda person, there are several on offer and we’re calling out the Mac Miller with pork bratwurst, chilli cheese macaroni, jalapenos and cheese sauce. A side of Jalapeno Poppers never goes astray either, with lashings of blue cheese sauce. So, with all this we could stack on some serious kg at this point, but more of us to love we say!

What goes hand-in-hand with a burger? Booze of course, and Burger Lane Co. is both fully licensed and fully stocked up! An extra big kudos is due for supporting fellow northside legends by serving up White Oat Distillery gin-inspired cocktails, Black Hops beers on tap and Wine Not! wine satchels – for those sneaky park sessions.

Back to the founders, Shaun with a history in gourmet burgers and fellow front-of-house superstar (and wifey) Jessica were left jobless thanks to that pandemic named after a beer. Forced to pivot, they had the genius idea to buy a food truck and spent the next couple of years bouncing around our top breweries, festivals and private catering gigs. Fast forward to 2022 in a post-Rona climate, and a drive-by of the vacant Paradise Point site gave them exactly what they needed; the perfect posse for a permanent site and the rest is history as they say. And we are eternally grateful.

So next time you have burgers on the brain (which is us… daily) and a rip-snorter burger at that, it’s time to ‘meat’ your new burger brewing bestie, the one and only Burger Lane Co.
