It’s summer in Paris and the city has truly come to life. Parisians flit about in the sun like little summer fairies with their woven sandals, light dresses and floral headpieces… The capital fills up with foreigners, explorers discovering an unknown land. ‘Hikers’ in stilettos make their way up the isles of the big department stores to find what “French fashion” does best. Parisians make the most of the city, the quays that temporarily turn into beaches, and the sun shines down on café terraces with their gourmet menus… Paris in summer is shopping trips up the Champs-Elysees and long walks by the Seine. Paris in summer is magical and you will never want to leave.

WHAT IS FLORETTE PAQUERETTE AND WHY HAVE YOU CHOSEN IT AS YOUR BRAND NAME? I am Florette Paquerette! My name is Flora Paquerette, I am 26 years old and I created Florette Paquerette four years ago. Paquerette is a flower, and Flora means flower in latin !

WHAT INSPIRES YOU WHEN DEVELOPING YOUR NEW COLLECTION?
My new collection for summer is very fresh; I have taken inspiration from my childhood and different elements of it that have influenced me. Carlton of the Prince of Bel Air is an atypical personality and I really loved putting him in the forefront of the collection. It’s a collection that marks a new stage in the brand, and having a swimsuit collection is a first!

WHAT KIND OF WOMAN DO YOU DESIGN FOR AND HOW DO YOU ENVISION THE WOMEN WHO WEAR FLORETTE PAQUERETTE? WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO CREATE YOUR OWN BRAND? I get inspiration from everything around me - the street, Paris, music, my childhood. Everything comes from my life; I spend a lot of time observing!

17

I don’t want to pigeonhole anyone, all women are Florette Pacquerette women, I want my brand to touch all types of people! I see a woman who is at ease with her femininity, who is not scared about what people say, and who wears what she wants and knows who she is!

WHAT IS A PIECE OF ADVICE YOU WOULD GIVE WOMEN WEARING YOUR CREATION? It’s a bit of a cliché but be yourself, never play a role to please someone else or to blend in with the masses. Always believe in your dreams and don’t look back – anything is possible when you believe in yourself.

HOW DO YOU SEE FLORETTE PAQUERETTE PROGRESSING? WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PROJECTS?
I want to continue to make the people who follow me happy, while at the same time staying in my unique and refined world. Eventually I would like the brand to have a presence in other countries, particularly the United States and Japan.

Tony Yaacoub, THE SOUL OF THE MIDDLE EAST

TONY YAACOUB WAS BORN IN LEBANON AND GREW UP IN THE UNITED ARAB EMIRATES. HE DISCOVERED FASHION AT A VERY YOUNG AGE AND DEVELOPED AN ENDURING PASSION FOR HAUTE COUTURE. Sure of his vocation, he left his hometown and moved to the paris, the home of haute couture, to master the techniques of the trade. In 2005, he returned to lebanon where he opened his own fashion house; his first show at the grand metropolitan hotel of beirut marked the beginning of his career as a recognized and respected designer.

Yaacoub dedicated his latest collection to Berytus (L’Esprit de Berytus), the princess after whom the city of Beirut was named, and who, legend has it, was offered the glistening city as a gift by her father. The collection, a selection of exquisite, voluminous gowns, all designed in a monochrome color of fresh pale mint, brings focus back to the cut of the dress. Here Yaccoub plays with volume, the asymmetry of the body, and the mystery of female form to create a sophisticated, contemporary silhouette, marked by femininity. Since then he has continued to showcase his collections all over the world and many international celebrities admire his elegant and sophisticated style. Najwa Karam, Haifa Wehbe and Alhan, are all among his list of devoted clientele.

Tony Yaacoub knows how to enhance the body of a woman with his creations, which are more and more enchanting, from one season to the next.

Alongside his Couture collections, presented in Paris for Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week, Tony Yaacoub designs prêt-à-porter collections, as well as wedding dresses and accessories.

THE TEMPLE OF ACCESSORIES

FOR THE FIRST TIME IN 32 YEARS, PRINTEMPS IS OPENING A NEW TEMPLE DEDICATED TO LUXURY, IN A CULTURAL REFERENCE LOCATION: THE CARROUSEL DU LOUVRE. OVER AND ABOVE ITS GRANDIOSE LOCATION AND MONUMENTAL APPEARANCE, ALL THE VALUES INHERENT IN PRINTEMP’S DNA ARE REPRESENTED IN THIS NEW UNION: HISTORY, HERITAGE, CREATIVITY AND ELEGANCE. A future flagship for lovers of luxury, art and culture, Printemps Louvre hosts the finest selection of luxury brands and is the best destination for gifts produced by elite arts and crafts: watchmaking, jewellery, leather goods and fragrances.
The entrance leads on from the Inverted Pyramid, next to the entrance to the Louvre museum with a very original access that has no façade or doors to cross.

This archi- tecture gives the central space, with its finishing materials, colour range and quality of lighting, a museum style that makes this a unique retail venue in the world. The interior of the store also reflects the architecture of the Carrousel du Louvre and the museum itself, as the floor and walls are made with the same construction material: Burgundy stone. Built lengthways with a ground floor covering 1640 m2 and a 820 m2 mezzanine, the store offers a total retail surface area of almost 2500 m2 i.e. 10% of the total surface area of the Carrousel du Louvre. The strong visual experience starts with the white-painted ceiling, with a wavy polished steel surface that reflects the image and movement of visitors in a pers- pective seen throughout its whole length. Standing six metres tall, it has been designed to offer visibility right through to the back of the store from the Inverted Pyramid, like a monumental gallery.

To maintain the unity of the interior architecture, all the shop façades are organised by Printemps, with opening and closing features defined by the architects of the Citterio agency who have also designed a large proportion of the shops’ furniture and central presentation areas. The Mezzanine that overlooks the gallery is accessible via two majestic staircases framed by columns. The design of this floor has helped define the architectural tone of Printemps Louvre with a façade in gold-tinted mirror glass panels and a metal grid that gives a very sophisticated and urban touch. THIS NEW PROJECT ALSO AIMS TO SHOWCASE CONTEMPORARY ART THROUGH THE KNOWHOW OF MAJOR MAISONS AND UNPARALLELED CULTURAL EVENTS.

H AU T E CO U T U R E Haute Couture “High Fashion” is custommade fashion that is constructed by hand from start to finish by using the highest quality fabrics and most significant quality of craftsmanship, embroidery and appliques by the industry’s best. Making it one of the most expensive luxuries in the fashion world. Tailored specifically to the individual figure, attention to the smallest details involved is an exquisite art in its own form. Given the allotted time and work that goes into each piece it is one of the most expensive luxuries in the fashion world. European fashion at the time was influenced by art, architecture, music and fashions of the French court at Versailles. It was Queen Marie Antoinette who began the fashion revolution in the early 1700’s to the French culture. In the mid-nineteenth century Englishman Charles Frederick Worth, also known as the father of Haute Couture introduced Haute Couture to France and the world. Couturiers who followed in Worth’s footsteps are Jean Patou, Paul Poiret, Jean Lanvin, Elsa Schiaparelli, Christobal Balenciaga, Madeleine Vionnet and Christian Dior.

In France today the term “Haute Couture” is a protected name that can only be used by fashion houses that meet the strict industry requirements. It is protected by law and is defined by ‘Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture’ is defined as «the regulating commission that determines which fashion houses are eligible to be true haute couture houses». TO EARN THE RIGHT TO HAVE THE LABEL “HAUTE COUTURE” MEMBERS MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING: • To design custom-made garments for private clients, with one or more fittings. • To have a workshop (atelier) in Paris that employs a minimum of fifteen fulltime staff members. • To present a collection of original designs both day and eveningwear in January and July every year. The passion for diamonds Valérie Messika was presdestined to work with diamonds. From her earliest childhood, she listened to the fascinating stories told by her father, André. Early on, this key player in the French diamond trade took her along with him on his travels, seeking out exceptional gems. Valérie Messika inherited this passion. She decided to devote herself to the diamond- while following her own path, because she had no affinity with the trade. Instinctively, every diamond inspired a design or an idea in her. The thrill lay in the setting she imagined when seeing the stone. So she turned to design. Her first piece of jewelry was a necklace consiting of a diamond on a fishing line. In 2005, Valérie Messika created her eponymous brand with a close-knit guard, transforming diamonds into jewelery that has the knack of making your heart stop and your eyes sparkle.

FREEDOM Each piece is designed and elaborated in a concern for women’s comfort. Messika creates unusual pieces, off the beaten track. The flexibility of their design introduces dynamism and energy.

LIGHTNESS To confidently address the creation of diamonds, with impertinence and lightness of the min. The frame disappears, the parts are hollowed, opened or perforated. Diamond stands create light and airy figures.

PURITY From the diamond’s absolute purity to the refined ceations that magnify it. Messika is always seeking for the essential line.

OF THE BEST ADDRESSES AS IN FASHION, TRENDS MOVE FAST IN THE FOOD WORLD. SEX AND THE CITY MADE CUPCAKES COOL. BUT, LIKE SCRUNCHIES, GLADIATOR SANDALS AND LOW-WAISTED JEANS, THEY QUICKLY WENT BY THE WAYSIDE. CUPCAKES WERE REPLACED BY MACARONS, WHICH WERE REPLACED BY WHOOPEE PIES, WHICH WERE REPLACED BY CAKE POPS. NOW IT SEEMS THAT ARTFULLY DECORATED ÉCLAIRS AND DELICATELY GLAZED CREAM PUFFS ARE THE LATEST SWEET FOOD FAD TO HIT PARIS. CHOUX PASTRY HAS BECOME THE BOYFRIEND JEAN OF THE CULINARY UNIVERSE. SO WHEN YOU GET BORED OF LOOKING AT LOUBOUTINS – WHY NOT GO CHOUX SHOPPING INSTEAD? HERE ARE FIVE OF THE BEST PARISIAN ADDRESSES TO GET YOUR CHOUX FIX.

These incredibly beautiful éclairs are almost too pretty to eat…but believe me - from the beautiful magenta colored Rouge Baiser, to the bountyreminiscent Coco Chocolat, and the chocoholics Feuille D’Automne to the zesty Citron Yuzu - these éclairs are as easy on the taste-buds as they are on the eye.

Éclair du Genie is like the Jimmy ‘Choux’ of the sweet food world (expensive but definitely worth the splurge).

Popelini, named after the Italian pastry chef who invented choux pastry in 1540, was the first Parisian patisserie dedicated entirely to cream puffs. The small but stylish stores in the Marais and, more recently Pigalle, sell beautifully light, colourfully glazed, cream puffs with a variety of delicious fillings including lemon, Madagascar vanilla, rose and raspberry, and salted caramel butter.

The Parisian OF THE MONTH WHICH IS YOUR FAVORITE PARISIAN DISTRICT ? WHY ? My favorite Parisian district is the 17th. It’s a very diverse district, some parts are calm with very French Hausmannian style apartments and other parts are livelier with lots of restaurants and bars. One of my favorite places is the Avenue des Ternes, where you can find a number of boutiques but also little bars and restaurants where it is really nice to have an aperitif or a bite to eat on the terrace, in winter or summer.

LAURIE TROGNON ATTACHÉE DE PRESSE PARIS 17ÈME INSTAGRAM : @LAURIETROGNON

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE FRENCH DESIGNER OR FRENCH BRAND? My favorite French brand is Carven. I love the spirit of the brand: aready to wear line that is inspired, accessible and feminine, without being ostentatious. To me Carven is the epitome of Parisian chic.

COULD YOU SHARE WITH US YOUR FAVOURITE FASHION SPOTS IN PARIS? The department store Printemps on the boulevard Haussman. This department store represents French chic with numerous luxury brands as well as lines by new designers. The beautiful architecture makes it an exceptional place to shop.

CAN YOU SHARE WITH US YOUR FAVORITE OUTFIT FOR A PARISIAN DAY OR EVENING? My favorite outfit for a classic Parisian day is very casual, for example a pair of dark skinny-leg jeans with a pale pink cashmere jumper and heeled boots. For a more formal style, I like to wear a high-waisted skirt with a silk shirt, and classic black pumps (but always with at least a 6cm heel A). At night, I like to slightly shorter and dressier outfits, while still staying chic. My favorite outfit is a short black and gold jumpsuit from Maje with heeled pumps by Walter Steiger.

WHAT IS INSIDE YOUR BEAUTY KIT? I never leave the house without my little makeup bag. Inside you can find a Guerlain bronzer, a ‘false lash effect’ mascara from

YSL, a very pink blush by Chanel, a YSL “Pure Couture” lipstick and lip balm and a red nail polish for urgent touchups!

COULD YOU SHARE A GOOD ADDRESS? SPA? BOUTIQUE? BEAUTY PLACE ? To relax and unwind from the hectic Parisian life, I recommend Le Spa des Cinq Mondes (75009).

SHARE WITH US YOU FAVORITE PLACE TO HAVE LUNCH/DINNER OR ALATE DRINK IN PARIS ? Catching up with friends after work for a drink or something to eat is very common; here are the places I like to go:

BEST CUP OF COFFEE : Angelina
(75001)

BEST FRENCH CUISINE : La petite Cour(75006)

BEST PATISSERIE : Ladurée
 BARS THAT I LIKE : Candelaria (75003) BEST RESTAURANT : Razowski (75001)
