Foreword
Chris Ingram Founder The Ingram Collection The Ingram Prize was established six years ago to showcase the work of artists in the years after leaving art school when navigating building a career and making a living can be difficult. We are proud to support artists at this stage in their careers. I first started visiting art school degree shows in 2007. Since my very first purchase of work that year from Haroon Mirza’s MFA show, The Ingram Collection now has nearly 80 works by the artists in our Ingram Contemporary Talent collection, which we are proud to display around the UK as part of our dynamic public loans and exhibition programme. I started the Ingram Collection buying Modern British Art, which is now lent out to museums and galleries across the country, but I also believe it is important to be looking forward at the art that is being made today. It is with that idea in mind that the Ingram Prize was created. Seeing the works on display from the finalists has become one of the highlights of my year. I am delighted that we have had a record number of entries for this year’s prize. It shows the importance of opportunities such as this for artists. After last year’s online show, I am excited to see the 2021 finalists work on display at Unit 1 Gallery | Workshop. Congratulations to all. Chris Ingram

Introduction
Jo Baring Director The Ingram Collection We set up the Ingram Prize to help, support and celebrate contemporary artists. The Ingram Prize has grown hugely since our inaugural edition in 2016. It is now one of the leading prizes for contemporary artists in the UK, and 2021 saw a record number of entries. This is the 6th edition of the prize and in addition to the group exhibition, our offering now includes a residency, a solo show at the Art Fund prize-winning museum & gallery, The Lightbox, and the opportunity for three finalists’ work to join The Ingram Collection, joining our dynamic loans and exhibition programme. I am so happy to be able to present a physical group show of this year’s Ingram Prize finalists. We believe in the importance of arts and artists and are determined to make the Ingram Prize a valuable opportunity and support for artists. I am grateful to our sponsor Mark Harris at Rawlinson & Hunter for the company’s continued support of the arts and The Ingram Prize, and to our Collections Manager Alison Price whose work behind the scenes is integral to the success of the prize and exhibition. Congratulations to the 2021 finalists on their achievement. Let’s celebrate being back in an exhibition space together and being able to showcase the best of artistic talent in the UK today. Jo Baring
