This project is a result of 7-days “Superkampung” workshop between 3 main schools; Berlage, TuDelft Institute, and Universitas Tarumanagara. Superkampung is a vision in a form of design proposals for an even a more mixed, dynamic multi-class urban fabric in Jakarta. Many kampungs (urban village) in Jakarta are subject to eviction. Land prices are increasing, while most kampungs are located on the best areas of the city. They are prone to being replaced by another gigantic shopping mall. Kampung Rawajati has been known as ‘green’ kampung. As a team, we worked to discover its potentials and propose some ideas that will make Kampung Rawajati to be livable, even greener, and grow its unique values that would attract tourists in the future and benefit the city.

Jakarta acts as the central of economical and political activities in Indonesia, has been growing rapidly since the independence day in 1945. The capital city offers many cosmopolitan opportunities and this has made the city becomes the ultimate target of urbanization. Many cultures, activities, and the people itself jumped into the biggest melting pot in the country. Many issues has been growing, added by the the sloppy regulations and corrupted government made it worse. The melting process went wild, producing some baby phenomenons. Turns out the babies tend to be unique and entertaining ones. Who had thought the coins’ sounds could be an effective way to collect money at buses? Or how a family’s occasion could affect the whole street? So, -- instead of being so serious -- how about being humorous and celebrate the birth of the city’s today-identity; the people, codes, stories, and voices? Even why not gather the society and laugh at ourselves together?

The ideas are to make the project to be as social as possible; without adding any commercial values at all. As a “melting pot it is located under a flyover; a place that is known as a dirty and poor yet the people still use it to cross, sell, even, to sleep. The building is divided unto 2 levels; upper floor and basement. The main program is to exhibit the art of Jakartans, but also there are some other activities like workshop, discussion, and auction room. Little amenities to support is a cafeteria and dining space.

Shifted Living Space is a residential alternative for commuters in the city, that tend to be temporary; could be shifted and adjusted according to each occupants that based on shifts. Located in the heart of Jakarta makes this project could worth more which to be a non-commercial public space. This project is also a critic to big cities and the societies that involved in it that had grown to be individualistic. The configuration and new pattern priotize togetherness, mutual aid, and hospitality, which had long gone in the society of the city. The users have to go down by stairs under Sudirman Station then walk along the river to whichever space they rent.

A renovation project located in Medan, Sumatera Island of Indonesia. The areas of design are the whole mall; outdoor entrance, atrium, corridors, shopfronts, toilets, hotel lobby, and outdoor rooftop area. The Design of Entrance Plaza is an extension of the Food Street.Several elements are used to define the relationship between outside and inside, so they will guide foot traffic to enter the mall. Arbor sculptures, floor patterns and LED Blades are the key visual elements to perform this task.
24
The Bougainvillea Arbors and weaving floor pattern continues to the mall interior. Both elements stitches the entrance plaza and the mall interior. The ground floor of the food street atrium space should have a flexible programming to allow multiple events happening there. Most public furniture should be removable to maximize the layout for an event. The projection wall in the atrium is texturized with simple weaving pattern from ordinary gypsum wall. The pattern has different types of depth; thus it will create rich shade and shadow to the wall in the day time. In the night time, it can be lit appropriately, when there is no video projection happening.
25
There are some features in rooftop areas; dipping pool for relaxing and private pool party with outdoor minibar nearby, area for informal gatherings or events, amphitheatre with theatrical seating layout for entertainment activities, such as rooftop cinema and outdoor live music, rooftop farmers market that sells fresh flowers and planters, jogging track around the rooftop area with built-in seating surrounds Bougainvillea Arbors for visitors to take a rest, last but not least, water features that are provided for all ages, from kids to adults.
