It’s finally here... the moment we wait for the entire year. It’s Christmas at last, we really hope that Santa is in gear! Like so many South Africans that had to endure this turbulent year, we can surely do with some festive cheer.

As we review 2024, we should all be thankful that we have made it through. The year has made us experience mixed emotions with rising food, fuel and municipal price rises. The light at the end of the tunnel (wink, wink) has been the (almost) eradication of the dreaded ‘loadshedding’ saga which left many of us in the dark in more ways than one. Thankfully, we are on the right track, and we hope that this will ensure a brighter future for our country in 2025. The drop-in interest rates towards the later part of 2024 seem evident to continue and stabilize into the new year as inflation and spending has lowered in our markets.

Could this spell a promising year ahead – I certainly hope so! We have seen a rise in the consumer market in our property sector as the stimulated rate reductions have spurned buyer confidence creating more property spending. This is contrary to how the year ended in 2023, so we have something to celebrate in anticipation of the pending new year.

Back to Santa – Remember to enjoy the celebrations and of course, the reason for the season.

Christmas should not be solely focused on lavish gifts and expenses – which are nice if you can afford them – but more so, on relationships and sharing and caring with friends, family, loved ones and those that are in need. This is the true spirit of Christmas. Have fun this December, but be sure to remember that school fees, stationery and uniform shopping are just around the corner. Sorry. We’ll talk about that next year. For now, let’s embrace this jolly season and make the best memories with those we hold dear. From our Ingwe family to yours, we wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year!

This Christmas, remember:

This Christmas, remember: it’s not about how much you spend but the thought and love you put into your gifts. With these simple ideas, you’ll light up your loved ones’ holidays without dimming your wallet.

Happy gifting!

METHODS

Heat the butter, syrup and sugar together in a small pan until melted, stirring occasionally. Set aside to cool slightly.

Mix together the bicarb, ginger, cinnamon and flour in a large bowl. Pour in the buttery syrup mixture and stir to combine, then use your hands to bring together to form a dough. Add up to 1 tbsp of milk to combine if needed. The dough will be soft at this point, but it’ll firm up in the fridge.

Put the dough on a sheet of baking parchment, shape into a rectangle, and lay another sheet of parchment on top of it. Roll the dough out to a thickness of ½cm. Transfer to a baking sheet to keep it flat, leaving the parchment in place, then chill in the fridge for 1 hr.

Heat the oven to 190C and line a large baking sheet with more baking parchment. Remove the dough from the fridge and cut out gingerbread men using a cookie cutter.

Place the gingerbread men, spread apart, on the lined baking sheet, and bake for 10-12 mins. Leave to cool completely on the baking sheet.

T Drop a Teddy Give a Cuddle

The festive season is a time for giving, sharing, and creating moments of joy that warm the heart. At Ingwe Property Group, we believe in making a meaningful difference, especially in the lives of children who could use a little extra love and comfort this Christmas.

That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our “Drop a Teddy, Give a Cuddle” soft toy drive!

We’re calling on our wonderful community to join us in spreading the magic of Christmas. All it takes is a new or gently used soft toy, something small that can bring immense joy to a child spending the holidays in a hospital. These will be hand-delivered to children in local hospitals, offering them comfort and a reminder that they’re cared for.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

It’s easy to make a difference! Simply drop off your donation at any of these locations:

• Ingwe Property Group, Pinetown

• Ingwe Property Group, Umhlanga

• BDE Attorneys

• Brookes Attorneys

WHEN TO DONATE?

Donations are open now through 21 December 2024. That’s plenty of time to pick up or pass along a soft toy and share the spirit of the season.

Every single toy you donate is like sending a warm hug to a child who needs it most. Let’s come together as a community to make sure no child feels alone or forgotten this festive season.

From everyone at Ingwe Property Group, thank you for helping us spread the joy of giving this Christmas. Together, we can make the season brighter for the children who deserve it most!
