In addition, the continued decline in COVID-19 and progress with the vaccination program in Spain has enhanced business confidence. While the Spanish construction industry is expected to return to growth this year, the industry is projected to remain below prepandemic levels until 2024.
The cuts have been put in place to allow a hopeful fluctuation in the property market due to the recent pause on transactions caused by restrictions in place during the pandemic. With considerable savings to be made and a potentially short period of time to make use of them, this could encourage buyers to act quickly and provide a needed boost for the economy.
This initiative has been approved by the Andalucían coalition government – Ciudadanos, Vox, and Partido Popularin order to raise investment initiative, both foreign and national, and general wealth of Andalucía.
Spain invests in the construction industry
The country is expected to register annual growth of between 2.4 – 4% from 2023 – 2026, supported by infrastructure developments in housing, energy and industrial sectors. Last December, 2021, the Spanish government announced a plan for sea-based renewables developments, with the goal of deploying wind farms and up to 60MW of marine energy by the year 2023.
The passing of this bill is part of a broader tax reform including reductions in IRPF (personal income tax), IHT (inheritance tax), Patrimonio (wealth tax), ITP (property transfer tax), AJD (stamp duty) and taxes on gambling, all combining to have an expected total value of around €329 million in favour of Andalucían taxpayers.
“It has always been a priority for Atlas Group to maintain a positive impact on the local community. One way in which we are proud to do so is to help these animals in need. ADANA are a dedicated association that work tirelessly to do so, and we work to support their efforts,” said Mike Gregory, General Director, Atlas Group.
Since receiving some help from the town hall to aid in their efforts, the association gradually transformed and developed into the shelter it is today helping hundreds of abandoned dogs every Memberships, year.donations,

ADANA; “Association for the Rights of Abandoned Animals”, began thirty years ago as a trio of locals began helping local stray dogs in the Estepona area.
Atlas Group has lasting ties to the surrounding communities and one way in which they help those less fortunate is via donations towards saving, treating and rehousing abandoned animals.
The construction industry in Spain is expected to grow over 8% in 2022. Following an annual decline of 4.1% in 2021, the country received a 9 billion Euro fund to finance the nation’s Recovery Plan, which included investments in health, education and housing. In December 2021, parliament approved Spain’s 2022 budget which involved spending totalling 240 billion Euros in 2022, and as part of this, the government allocated 11.8 billion Euros to infrastructure and ecosystems, but also allocated budget to improve telecommunications, innovative renewable energies and housing rehabilitation and urban regeneration.
The recently extended law includes taxable transactions validated as of its passing. Previously, property tax ranged from 8-10%, contingent on the sale value, but the new rate will be fixed at 7% for all authorised operations regardless of the house price. In reference to Stamp Duty Tax, the percentage has been reduced from 1.5% down to 1.2%.

As part of last year’s regeneration campaign in Spain the Boletín Oficial de la Junta de Andalucía (BOJA) announced the passing of a decree, in April 2021, that Property Transfer Tax (paid when buying and selling second-hand homes, for example) and Stamp Duty Tax in Andalucía was reduced.
An official bulletin was released by the regional governing body - the Junta de Andalucía - to confirm the new rates for transfer tax, known here in Spain as Impuesto de Transmisiones Patrimoniales or ITP.

This donation is so incredibly important to the care of the dogs at ADANA, at times it has been the only income we have had. We hope Atlas Group know just how much we appreciate what they have done for us, to say we are grateful does not cover it.

They are seriously customer orientated, driven by their individual needs, and so keeping them involved in the entire process is very important as they appreciate their clients as being their greatest asset. Quero are also dedicated to their high standard of products and pride themselves on consistently delivering the best quality possible. Sourcing some of the most beautiful raw woods such as conifers; pine, fir, hardwoods; oaks, cherry, chestnut, tropical woods; Iroko, Sipo, etc. as well as regular or waterproof DM boards and agglomerates, is obviously a vital factor in achieving this as they strive for excellence in their field. As well as the recognition of professionalism and quality in their work, Quero are pioneers in the introduction of new production systems and machinery for the manufacture of windows, doors, cabinets and covers, as well as in the application of ecological treatments to wood.
The pandemic influenced business due to production having to come to a halt for some time, but even more troubling was the difficulty to obtain raw materials in Spain which resulted in limited production even when it could resume. Now, however, everything is beginning to ease back into a sense of normality and functionality.

The company ethos at Quero and the spirit of the company is above all quality, creativity, consistency, and customer relations.
Their values are strong, and they never lose sight of the fundamental pillars which ignited the business from the very beginning; humility, honesty, ethics and sincerity.
Established in 1958 by Juan and Manuel Quero Rosales in the white village of Casares, Malaga, Quero have been providing their specialist carpentry services for over sixty years. Having begun as a small family run operation initially supplying the small town in which it began, Quero has expanded and become a staple in the wood market serving the entire region with its products. By the end of the 80s Javier, Luis, Juan David and Manuel, sons of the founders, were integrated into the business and incorporated modern vision into the already successful company elevating to one of the leading wood carpentry suppliers in Spain.
The team at Quero currently consists of fifty-five employees working with everything concerning wood for private homes and businesses. They excel in delivering top-quality, specialist products to complete turnkey homes, from doors to wardrobes, to pergolas, roofing, furniture, windows, and more. The structure of the company runs smoothly with a General Manager from whom the partners branch out, each having several departments; workshop, varnishing and logistics, from each of them come the production managers and foremen.

“Mytaki is a team of five associated architects who, together with several collaborators, develop all kinds of projects from our studios in Granada, Almería and Murcia.”
Architecture can be described as a science as well as an art, how do you combine the two in your designs?
How would you describe the Mytaki style to someone who had never seen your work?
Your firm works all over Spain, what do you think of Marbella, and surrounding areas, where architectural development is concerned?
“The members of Mytaki are Luis Bravo, David Camilo, Alberto Cobos, Manuel Godoy y Luis Villar together with our colleagues María Belén López, Óscar Romera and Mario Sánchez. We are from five different provinces of Spain, but our nexus is the Granada School of Architecture in the city where our main office is located.”
“We love to see the great appeal of having a home on the coast of Malaga for many people within and outside of Spain. This speaks of the great quality of life in this area. But this fact has generated a great urban development and the administrations and technicians have the responsibility to take care of the growth of the cities, creating sustainable and quality orientated environments. We have built in many provinces and we hope to do so soon in Malaga to contribute to this.”

Tell us more about the team behind the name
Who is Mytaki?
Mytaki is an award-winning architecture and design studio based in the cities of Granada, Almería and Murcia. Their incredible, contemporary designs and creations come as a collective response to the demands of the modern world, and they are proud of their innovation, reaction to environmental issues, and professionalism. Let’s find out more about the ethos, conceptualism, and drive behind the Mytaki team.
“Perhaps our proposal for the competition for a soccer stadium in Morocco in collaboration with Jose Moya and Noureddine El Kenfaoui. On the other hand, it was the winning proposal, so it was as risky as it was successful.”
“We have recently been working on the second phase of a residential building in the metropolitan area of Granada.
The Spanish climate invites the concept of an outdoor/indoor lifestyle - how do you incorporate this into Mytaki’s work?
“In essence, for the sake of enjoying our work. But in practice it is because each member of the team has specialized in an area within architecture (such as structural calculation, energy saving or construction systems, among others) and because we have implemented quality and control systems that make us work better and faster.”
Is nature and surrounding landscape a strong influence on Mytaki designs?
“We think so. We started using aerothermal underfloor heating systems when no one knew about it. We have always been proud to build buildings to be as efficient as possible and as far as the client has permitted us to go.”
What was Mytaki’s most challenging project to date?
“It is fundamental, we cannot make architecture as if they were franchise-type spaces.”
www.mytaki.es info@mytaki.es
What was your most outrageous design?
“It is always one of our design parameters.”
23
“Leaving happy and satisfied customers. It is what makes them call us again as well as recommend us to others.”
“We are very proud of the “Galactica” project, a building that has been the result of winning the ideas competition for a centre for the observation and practice of Astronomy in the south of Teruel. We were proud to win the contest of course, but also that the scientific leaders and residents of the town liked and appreciated it so much.”
How does Mytaki stand out from the architectural crowd?
“Perhaps our invitation proposal for a hotel and residential complex in Neuhausen (Switzerland) together with RHP-architekten. The place was sensational, located in front of the largest waterfall in Europe, and I think our project was up to the task.”
“Yes, of course. We always try to have the maximum relationship with the natural environment that surrounds the building as well as to convey that nature within the project.”
What would you say was your design signature?
The first phase was a success because the homes responded to the current demand for large terraces, high efficiency and quality materials. We have also recently worked on the rehabilitation of a residential building next to the cathedral of Granada with very interesting heritage elements. And thirdly we could include the single-family homes that we currently have under development in different provinces, one of them being a very special in Seville that is being built by Atlas Group!
Which Mytaki project are you most proud of and why?
Has Mytaki managed to move towards a more environmentally friendly way of working?
“We worked on a villa in Alicante which involved concrete sheeting with an interior and exterior concrete finish. As well as creating the structure and insulation, the sheet and its layout also created the spaces within.”
C/Varela, 2 1ºB 18009 Granada +34 958 168 201
What makes Mytaki tick?
“We have had many references such as Alejandro de la Sota or Rafael Moneo, but today we really like the work of BIG where the formalisation of the building is born from simple and clear objectives. It is an architecture that is easy to understand and at the same time very expressive.”
“The last challenge we have been working on is in a residential building in Las Palmas de Gran Canária, on a complicated plot near the sea with three basement levels.”
What would be the ultimate project challenge for Mytaki architects?
How do you feel about maintaining an element of local culture when designing modern homes?
Can you tell us a little about three of your recent projects?
Who or what would you say are your biggest influences, and why?
Atlas Group Introducing Mytaki
This is Illusion - consistently raising the bar in home automation.
The concept of home automation is no longer a futuristic one, a trend, nor is it fantastical - it is becoming standard practice for properties to incorporate ‘domotics’ to ensure the smooth, smart running of a modern home. At the forefront of the technological advances and solutions for home automation in Marbella, we find the incredible team at Illusion. An innovative, established company of highly skilled professionals in their field, the Illusion workforce serves to create the optimum living experience including lighting, entertainment systems, appliances and security systems. All of which are monitored, activated, accessed and controlled by a centralised smart device.
What and who is Illusion?
The client’s specific requirements and high standards are at the forefront of their project planning, and so Illusion only elect to work with high-quality, established brands ensuring the products are leaders in their respective sectors; an important part of their seal of approval. Convinced that the success of a project is in the details, they combine their extensive knowledge and highly skilled individuals to provide the optimum service to their customers.
How has the market adapted since the start of the pandemic?
For obvious reasons home office requirements have also vastly increased, and it is believed this will continue as people transform their homes into a lifestyle rather than just places to eat and sleep. An increase in renovation activity is not limited to the interior (interior designers are also very busy lately), and there have been many requests to update recently landscaped outdoor spaces by installing automated lighting, sound systems, and security systems.
In the last year the demand for home cinemas has skyrocketed; with both sales and interest dramatically increasing. Due to everyone spending more time at home more customers are looking for a special area to watch TV and films. Now that the Costa del Sol benefits from fibre optic, access to Netflix, HBO, and other stations has become far more accessible - gone are the days of Sky TV or DVDs! Before the pandemic, the home cinema was not an essential luxury, but now it is fast becoming a desired designated space within the home.
People have had the time and space to pay more attention to their homes, especially due to the lockdowns and so there has been a far stronger focus on home-improvement developing due to the pandemic. Technology has had a strong hand in inspiring renovations; lighting in various parts of the house where more time is being spent, pleasant sound for entertainment systems, and having a dependable network, are all high on the priority list.
Illusion is the materialisation of an idea formulated in 2006. Constantly growing, thanks to their bold and dynamic spirit, the team is made up of professionals from different fields who, by working on design and integration, provide bespoke home automation solutions. They attend to their clients’ needs in an individual and personalised way, from start to finish - each project involves designing integrated audiovisual, lighting and automation solutions that result in unique integral experiences.

The Illusion evolution
El Madroñal The Illusion evolution
25
The team at Illusion is consistently expanding; currently they are a strategy-focused group of more than fifty professionals who pride themselves on their excellent work ethic and working relationships as well as being figureheads in home-automation design and installation in the region.
El Madroñal
Smart installations organically get to know their occupants; intelligence systems such as Alexa, Amazon Echo, Apple, etc. start to recognise routines and act accordingly over time. For example, if you wake up at a specific time each morning and activate the blinds, the system will recognise this and begin to do it for you. These systems are voice assisted; they can control the house for you by ensuring the climate is right, the relevant lighting is as required, the music is at the right volume and the ambience is appropriate at all times, even when the homeowner is absent.
A recent collaboration between Illusion and Atlas Group saw contemporary villa, Marbesa 10, having high-quality lighting integrated, adapted, and optimised as per each room’s specific requirements. The atmosphere of any space is greatly affected by its use of light; a space to relax needs a warm and relaxing environment whereas an office or kitchen may need to inspire focus and attention to detail. Illusion installed a highly sophisticated yet straightforward utility with a Lutron-branded control interface. This control system optimises all the home lighting variables simply and intuitively; a single programmed movement or word and the blinds will shift to allow natural light, or the lights will dim to inspire tranquillity and relaxation.
C M Y CM MY CY CMY K
Illusion also provided their unparalleled services to automate homes in the Atlas project of El Madroñal - a complex of 1,200m2 luxury villas built to an impeccable standard. Comfortable living is guaranteed with high energy efficiency, underfloor heating, hot and cold air conditioning, preinstallation, electric blinds, and domotics system courtesy of the team at Illusion.
The technology behind Illusion…
The home is becoming a far more technological space - home automation was already popular, but Illusion is driving forward the evolution towards digitalisation. For example, remotely accessing your property using a code, via Bluetooth or a touch system, allowing a secure but keyless entry to the home. This also serves to accept deliveries or allow people access remotely when the owner is not at home.

A new development takes shapein Estepona
Architect Ventura Morón Carrillo from VOLUME International Architects collaborated on the design of Costafiore Gardens offering commitment, professionalism and efficiency in the development of high-quality interiors and exteriors. The three buildings are designed to integrate modern and traditional Mediterranean style.
The Dutch developers are new to the Spanish scene yet were involved in a smaller development around fifteen years ago which connected them to the area. This led to a strong and lasting network which has aided their navigation of the Spanish systems during the current build. The DutchSpanish collaboration combines north-European vision, marketing and product approach whilst using the best in quality, Spanish materials.
Within the complex, Costafiore offers a gym and spa fitted with high-tech appliances, equipment, and modern facilities to guarantee satisfaction for all needs. The spa is equipped with a jacuzzi, sauna and hammam, plus extensive changing rooms and bathrooms.
whilst incorporating northern-European style, will offer a variety of amenities significantly adding to the living standards of the development. Residents of Costafiore Gardens are invited into an exclusive community where the apartments enjoy incredible views of the Mediterranean as well as the stunning landscaped gardens that surround the property. The garden which lies at the heart of the complex is not simply for picturesque purposes but serves as a functional, communal place to relax in a beautiful, peaceful environment. The centre of the garden houses both the large pool as well as a children’s pool divided by a palm tree lined path and waterfall feature.
Gardens consists of thirty-five modern apartments, strategically designed to offer uninterrupted sea views. With walking distance to the beach and proximity to exclusive golf courses and nearby amenities the development boasts a highly alluring quality of life.
Welcome to Costafiore Gardens
Costafiore Gardens is an iconic new development currently being built in Estepona by Dutch newcomers Schonck, Schul and Compagnie alongside Atlas Group. As the area undergoes rapid modernisation, upgrades in infrastructure due to increased location desirability, this is an impeccably timed and wellplaced luxury development.
“Welcome to Costafiore Gardens where quality meets
Their confidence in working methods, quality, professionalism and design has led to the launch of their “dare to compare” instruction video and manual. These encourage potential clients to make an objective choice by comparing the Costafiore Gardens development with other projects. The complex, which is specifically designed to fully enjoy the charm of the Mediterranean lifestyle,
PARTNERS
CEO of the Dutch investors, Richard Schul, is approaching this project with huge determination and high standards looking to replicate their long-standing success in Holland with high-profile projects. On working with Schonck, Schul and Compagnie, Director General of Atlas Group, Mike Gregory, stated that the two companies “share the same views on efficiency, value for money, and going the extra mile to make sure the product is delivered on-time and onbudget, and aim to exceed client expectations.”
ARCHITECTS
The team at Schonck, Schul and Compagnie selected Atlas Group for the project through reputation, Schul himself stated that “because quality of execution and construction are the main theme at Costafiore Gardens, it was a foregone conclusion to work with a construction company with an excellent reputation. Atlas Group has proven itself in the realisation of outstanding projects. It has a tight and efficient organisation and very committed employees.”
COSTAFIORE GARDENS
Porcelanosa was selected as the supplier of ceramic tiles and sanitary-ware for Costafiore Gardens due to their longevity as a leader in their field in Spain. Porcelanosa produces innovative and high-quality products and is therefore a great match for the development.
The development features white buildings, large terraces, and a fluid transition between indoor and outdoor living via sliding, connecting doors. The terraces achieve great sunlight as well as having shaded areas created by pergolas, a fundamental compositional element of the complex. The result of the design delivers spacious, light-filled, luxurious homes with unique architecture.
The apartments feature specifically designed kitchens by C.M.R. Kitchens, Marbella. Featuring top of the range NEFF appliances, the kitchens are bespoke ensuring style, quality, functionality, and living comfort are fully integrated.

Business is booming on the Costa del Sol and Atlas Group Marbella is the construction company behind many of the new commercial ventures. With Technical Director Miguel Ángel García Herrero on board, Atlas Group continues to dominate the luxury construction sector in the Costa del Sol and open the horizons further afield.
Despite the challenges in our post pandemic era, Marbella and the surrounding areas on the sunshine coast are reaching new heights, with house prices increasing and a summer full of international tourism. Investment in the area is apparent; in addition to several new, quality hotels, restaurants and improved infrastructure across the Costa del Sol, the property market is booming. Atlas Group’s portfolio is reflective of the activity in the area. A local leader in construction, typically known for luxury homes, the company has been busy, creating apartment

The Global Pandemic and the Tech Effect Real Estate sales have not been as restricted as imagined as buyers have been able to view properties virtually, transfer funds digitally, and sign paperwork online. This extraordinary situation has inspired many people, who are now working online and remotely, to be able to relocate almost permanently. To purchase homes in more alluring locations, houses with plenty of entertainment built-in, where the home is not simply a dwelling but more a lifestyle centre. Home gyms, spas, cinemas, and domotics are all in high demand and the modernisation and development of contemporary homes in Nueva Andalucía does not disappoint on this front. Private pools, landscaped gardens, and plenty of space for guests all as standard in the luxury homes available in the area.
With one of the most successful and prestigious international schools in Spain on its doorstep, Aloha has been voted as one of the top places to live in Andalucía.
Nueva Andalucia
This catchment area has increased vastly in popularity and exclusivity in the last ten years with modern, designer villas and luxury apartment developments rising to the demand, as well as gourmet restaurants, exclusive bars, clubs, boutique shops and delicatessens.
The Golf Valley
La Campana: The quaint little village of La Campana is home to a Spanish majority and has managed to keep its traditional and cultural charm, as well as some of the area’s best kept culinary secrets. Those in the know are aware of the restaurants that have been nestled in the back streets here for decades and continue to serve up the best in Spanish cuisine.
At its heart, Nueva Andalucía houses Marbella’s verdant Golf Valley which includes three well-tended and globally respected courses; the famous Las Brisas (1968), Los Naranjos (1977) and Aloha Golf (1975).
Desirable Addresses: As well as those mentioned above, there are many more developments and complexes dotted throughout Nueva Andalucía’s prime real estate locations; Albatross Hill, Vista Real, Señoria de Gonzaga, Lago de los Tortugas,
Here you will also find Aloha Pueblo which is its own little town within a town. Nestled in a prime position overlooking Aloha and Royal Las Brisas Golf Courses the Pueblo is home to almost 200 homes and commercial businesses which service the community here. The pueblo was constructed similarly to other urbanisations but built to represent an Andalucían village featuring gardens, squares, fountains, and cortijos. The designers opted for colourful facades, as opposed to the typical white villages that Spain is so famous for, giving Aloha Pueblo its unique appearance.
The Beverly Hills of the Costa del Sol
Often coined as the lucrative Beverly Hills of this region, Nueva Andalucía is a place where people purposely drive to look at the sumptuous and opulent homes that define it. Stretching inland from Puerto Banús and backdropped by the iconic La Concha mountain, Nueva Andalucía is peppered with golf courses, lakes, and plenty of hillside opportunities for the most stunning views in the Sophisticatedarea.
The largest neighbourhood under Marbella’s umbrella, Nueva Andalucía has a population of around 15,000 which typically rises considerably during the summer and holiday seasons. Created by the same developer who designed and constructed the marina in Puerto Banús, (and its namesake) José Banús Mas, Nueva Andalucía began developing in the late sixties. Although a veritable maze of residential streets, Nueva Andalucía is highly accessible from the motorway and surrounding towns, having multiple entrances from all sides.

affluence is in abundance here, this being well represented by the luxurious, architecturally-outstanding villas, gated urbanisations and golf-side apartments that nestle comfortably in tranquil spaces amidst this undulating terrain.
Aloha: A mature, well-established residential area at the west of Nueva Andalucía, housing the renowned Aloha Golf Course at its epicentre, Aloha provides an abundance of frontline golf properties with fantastic views of both mountains and fairways alike.
Los Naranjos: The world-famous Los Naranjos golf course has been a landmark in Marbella since 1977. Twice being awarded course of the year on the Costa del Sol, Los Naranjos has played host to several major competitions. In keeping with this reputation, the homes that line the greens and fairways are nothing short of spectacular. There is a wide range of frontline golf property here with luxurious contemporary villas juxtaposed with more traditional options fetching well over €5,000,000, as well as three-bedroom townhouses, and spacious apartments.
Continued Market Buoyancy Despite the global pandemic restricting the flow of tourism and not permitting people in to the country to purchase real estate, the effect of the coronavirus on the property market here has not been as devastating as expected. The continued buoyancy of the real estate market in Marbella coincides with reports suggesting that “in the second quarter of this year, disposable incomes in the G7 group of large economies, which includes the USA, UK, France and Germany, were around $100bn more than they were before the Covid-19 pandemic”, as stated by The

Las Brisas: Another highly regarded golf club where membership appeals to those with a royal status! The course, and affluent surrounding area, is lined with stunning villas (as well as luxurious apartments), many of which have followed the recent golf valley trend of leaning towards more contemporary architecture, and will set you back a few million euros. This is a quiet residential area, originally popular with retirees, but the modernisation and development here has shifted that focus somewhat in recent years, making it a highly sought after area for families and second/ holiday homes.

La Zagaleta is a contemporary mansion, with nods to classical design. The villa took 18 months to complete and is clad in the soft aesthetic of stone and has ample terrace space to make the most of the stunning views down to the Straits of Gibraltar from its elevated position within the La Zagaleta country estate. The flooring uses eyecatching slate coloured tecton tiles and the property has 5 bedrooms, plus another in the basement. There is a separate apartment for staff, an indoor pool and spa area, and spacious garage. The expansive gardens were designed and planted by atlasgarden, and the infinity swimming pool was created by atlaspool.
I believe in long term relationships and so my team has changed very little over the years; my secretary Inma, for example, has been supervising our clients for the past 20 years. I have a team structure that incorporates architects, draftsmen, interior designers and technical architects.”
Do you think a culture should progress architecturally, remain traditional, or a combination of the two?
“I started my company Palanco Arquitectura in 1993 after having worked for some time in Madrid and Los Angeles. I graduated in Madrid in 1992 after studying in the Politecnica of Madrid and Technische Hochschule of Darmstadt. I have always believed that Marbella was definitely the place for me to design tailor-made architecture. I have been in this beautiful area for twenty-eight years now and consider myself lucky to work in such a great location.
With nature and surroundings being at the forefront of the company’s perspective, the studio was purpose- built to resemble a retreat rather than an office. The unique, classic villa is immersed in lush gardens in the heart of Nagüeles, Marbella, and boasts the majestic backdrop of the iconic La Concha mountain, as well as an art gallery; all serving to provide an idyllic, tranquil setting for the magic to happen.
“Not having a particular signature style is my architectural practice. Of course I have specific design preferences but always prefer to honor my client’s expectations. Repeating a house design and using the same solutions for different end users is like expecting a shoe to fit everybody. My work is eclectic, I know, and I have so many different, varying samples of classic architecture, rustic or modern villas. All of them having in common that they respond to a functional framework and the client’s standard of living. It is difficult to pinpoint an Ernesto Palanco villa, but creating houses to the client’s specification rather than my own proud architectural expectations is worth it.”
solutions for life’s essentials, and elegant architectural language; a fusion of these aspects. I believe in delivering beautiful architecture, to my clients in Marbella that does not respond to a particular trend but maintains a timeless elegance.”

Ernesto Palanco Arquitectura, a highly successful firm based in Marbella for over 25 years, is renowned for designing and creating stunning bespoke villas with a strong artistic connection. Specializing in combining Mediterranean architecture with Arabic influences and a contemporary edge, Ernesto Palanco has completed over two-hundred projects and has become one of Spain’s most sought-after architects.

“The surroundings and the relationship between inside and outside is essential in our local privilege climate. We do not believe in clear barriers between the interior and exterior. With courtyards, pergolas, covered terraces and also green walls, we extend the feeling of being outside into the architectural concept. Our Mediterranean climate, particularly in Marbella, allows us to extend the standard interior living concepts to the gardens. Pools and courtyards are also part of this extended, architectural scenario.”
“Having completed over 200 different projects in the last 28 years, our working process of course relies on our vast experience. Our architectural process begins with getting as much information as possible from the future dwellers. Family structure, living standards and anything else that helps us to understand the fundamental living areas and best resolves their needs. This is the starting point - location and plot information comes next. Natural relation with the surroundings and best use of the plot is one of our main goals. Budget and time frame are also important to start a preliminary project. And, at Palanco Arquitectura, a connection with art is very important for us.”
Your project ethos involves linking with the surroundings - how do you achieve this?

“I have worked with Atlas Group on a major refurbishment of a Villa in El Herrojo (La Quinta), as well as at Marbella Hill Club. One particularly interesting project was the transformation of a vintage garage in a seaside villa near Puerto Banús. The good connection between clients, myself and the team has been really important on all three of these different projects. Udo Fleischmann, the Director General, has always remained very involved with his team in order to provide a good service.”
How have you adapted to the rising demand for home automation?
Do you often incorporate traditional or cultural style - relevant to the specific location - in your work?
We have an extremely extensive briefing where we have a questionnaire and multiple style guides for clients to choose and complete. We put a lot of time and effort into the briefing phase so that we really get to know what the client wants and, as importantly, what they don’t want so we ensure that is left out of the equation.
I like that we always reinvent ourselves for every project to meet each one’s demands.
Personally, I love so many different design styles; for example, the Wabi Sabi look such as at the Casa Cook Hotels - a really raw feel with a laid-back spirit. Another amazing place for me was the Bvlgari Hotel in Bali. Just breathtaking.
Everyone is so busy at the moment, from builders to architects to interior designers. It seems like people are keen to either renovate the home they already own (but couldn’t get in to due to restrictions and lockdowns), or others who feel that the pandemic may strike again and next time want to be prepared - those who would rather be in Marbella, should that happen, are keen to update and adapt their place here accordingly.
51 Ambience | Always reinventing
We spoke with Andrea Böck herself to discuss the effects of the pandemic, how Ambience has adapted to unpredictable times and technological advances, her personal style, and current projects in various locations.
New purchases are abundant, and so right now we are busier than ever which is fantastic.
Many of our clients are loving the new options and opportunities to automate their homes, and so are happy, but others avoid it as, like with every computer, there are potential failures. There is a great demand for this at the moment, and it is very important to hire a professional company to install the systems to avoid problems in the future.
Ambience by Andrea Böck always reinventing
What is the process, when taking on a new client, in discovering their personal style and requirements?
We don’t have a signature, that is our signature. If you go to our website, you will see that we have a vast range of styles; Ibiza chic, Contemporary, Wabi Sabi, elegant, traditional, British heritage, and more - we can turn our hand to any style that is required by the client.
I feel a signature means that you are repeating designs. Starting from scratch and really concentrating on the individual project in hand is what we pride ourselves on.
In 2022, Ambience Home Design will be celebrating their twentieth anniversary in designing and creating luxury interiors. Having begun as a small operation out of San Pedro back in 2002, the team, led by founder, German-born designer and curator Andrea Böck, has boldly and decadently evolved to become a leader in international interior design. Having completed some incredible projects in over ten different countries including St. Lucia, Switzerland, the UK, and Hong Kong, and of course on home territory in Spain, the Ambience name and reputation has spread to every corner of the globe. They now have over thirty employees, including in-house designers and architects, combining to create a dream team in developing high-end turnkey homes all over the world. The combination of excellent client service, attention to detail, an extensive network, vast experience, passion for creativity, quality craftsmanship, and overall dedication have all marked the expansion and worldwide success of the Ambience brand.
Have you noticed an increased demand for home improvements and renovation since the pandemic began?
We need to carefully consider any previously installed systems when designing a project - before we could simply send our electrician to move any sockets or adjust electrical wiring, now we need to contact the company who installed the domotics to ensure that they alter everything accurately.
This has had to be done remotely at times, especially during lockdowns, then once we have our presentation ready, and they could travel to us, we had everything prepared for the client to then see everything we had discussed for themselves, feel and touch all the fabrics, etc. Although some clients who couldn’t be there in person, and did not want to wait, were actually fine to go ahead just by seeing the presentation digitally. At Ambience we also produce high quality 3D renders of the rooms so our clients know exactly how it will look.
How would you describe the style of Ambience as designers?
You mention that you travel a lot which has inspired some of your design work, where would you say your greatest influences have come from?
Sometimes yes, depending on the clients of course. For example, the English traditional home we are working on factors in a strong element of heritage, but certainly there are contemporary twists involved. This wouldn’t probably happen in a place here in Marbella as much, but then again, we designed an apartment in Hong Kong where the client wanted nothing Asian at all, so it always comes down to the individual requirements of the property and the client.

Another key to our success is consistency, our services must always meet a very high standard. I demand a lot from the people who work with me, we have to strive for the same heights and if something is not good enough, or up to my standards, then we redo it and redo it until it is perfect.

To recognise our clients’ needs and desires is our priority so that we can completely accommodate their personal style rather than influence them too much. INTERIOR DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE I FURNITURE I REFURBISHMENT
I would personally love to design and create a huge boutique hotel, including a beach bar club, on a really big scale. Somewhere like Bali, Ibiza, L.A, or even here at home. Anywhere with a beautiful location and lifestyle with frontline beach property would be perfect.
We are currently working on four projects with Atlas Group; one is a conversion of a big existing office building in Puerto Banús, turning it into a modern and high class co-working space which features a gym and a spa area. Also we have two apartments which we refurbished in Puente Romano and a total refurbishment of an old villa which is currently my own (and thrilling) project.
The property is built over three floors. Entering the home, the living areas have stunning features including a double height ceiling, floor-to-ceiling windows with access to the expansive terrace areas. A stylish kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances has an island with breakfast bar seating and integrated oven with hidden extractor fan. The open plan kitchen leads to the main living area with fireplace and views to the manicured garden, implemented by the team at Atlasgarden. The basement level features everything for the modern-day family; a gym, bar, extra living room and games area. There are five bedrooms, including a master suite with free standing bathtub with views to Marbella’s iconic La Concha mountain.

In addition to the three villas in the Montequinto area, the builds of several townhouses in the busy centre of Los Remedios are going ahead. Due to the central location, the logistics and planning of this project is extremely important, and the basements require considerable technical knowledge. The basements are located at the roadside and the complexity of the excavation requires the skill and knowledge of an experienced construction company, one of the reasons Atlas Group was chosen for this project.

“These projects demonstrate our skillset and overall competence at a range of builds, and we look forward to continuing our presence in the Seville market and in wider Andalucia,” said Director General, Mike Gregory.
A Spotlight on Seville
Additional projects in Seville also include two apartment blocks for student housing and from Atlas Group’s new Seville headquarters, the team is also working on builds in Sanlucar de Barameda and Puerto de Santa Maria.
Due to the excellent work shown by Atlas Group on the first villa, the company are now in the process of building a further two properties in the Montequinto district, also located frontline to a golf course, with architects T10 and CM4. One of the properties is more complex in construction, since there is an existing villa which will be connected to a large extension of 1,000m2 which will house a spa area with sauna and gym, and underground parking. The engineering and technical precision required to build the extension and underground parking, as well as connect it with the existing property, is paramount. One of the villas will house an incredible basketball court within the basement, which has to be specially modified to allow for increased height to play.

How would you describe Archidom’s philosophy?
“Mosh Fun Kitchen was designed following trends of avant-garde venues in New York, Moscow and London. La Reserva de Sotogrande, took the idea of transferring the essence of a beachside place to the hills, bringing together the best of several worlds as well as hosting the first and only private beach in Spain. Those are two favourites, but without a doubt one of the most exciting to design (and then visit every weekend) was Momento nightclub, Marbella.”
Renowned architects Chema Sobrado and Alvaro Estuñiga joined forces in 2017 consolidating their professional, global careers alongside their highly skilled architects, designers, creatives, technicians and consultants who complete the team at Archidom Studio. The renovation, by Atlas Group, is nearing completion. Mike Gregory, Director General, said; “The Old Town of Estepona is an iconic location, one which is receiving great attention in renovation and rejuvenation. We were pleased to have been selected for an exciting project and eager to see the final results. The renovation has been more difficult than typical projects due to the central location, but the Atlas Group team have been exercising their care and expertise in the construction work.”
Could you talk about some of the recent projects you have done?
Every day we work closely with many of the developers, architects, interior designers and real estate companies in Marbella. They normally come to our 1,000m2 showroom at the Golden Mile in Marbella to decide all the specifications and qualities for their projects. We have recently opened an exclusive POLIFORM branch into our showroom, showing some examples of the high-end kitchens, wardrobes and interior furniture that we could provide for Gunni & Trentino clients.

Founded in 1970, Gunni & Trentino is a well-established Spanish company, with more than 50 years of experience and 200 employees in our team. We specialise in high-end interior decoration, with big showrooms in Madrid, Barcelona, Marbella, Bilbao, Bogotá and in the Middle East. We provide tailor-made design consultancy for villas and developments, and we are official dealers for most of the top international brands for floorings, bathrooms, kitchens, wardrobes and home furniture. We have accomplished many top reference projects and cover all different styles, adapting our designs and creativity to the customer’s needs and desires.

Tell us about the services that you offer? Your website covers many things, from interior design to office furniture, what is at the heart of Gunni & Trentino?
Where are most of your clients from, and what specific services do they employ you for?
We have private clients coming in from all over the world not only in Spain, but in their countries as well. In our Marbella office we are involved now with plenty of clients from mid-Europe and all the Scandinavian countries coming over to do their new villas or renovations. For some projects, we are hired for the full design services including floorings, bathrooms, kitchen, wardrobes, lighting and furniture…, and for many other clients who bring their own architect or interior designer, we work directly with their designer offering detailed consultancy and working as suppliers for different areas of the house.

InHabit magazine speaks with Gonzalo Moreno, Associate Director of Gunni + Trentino Marbella, to learn more about the company and the new POLIFORM showroom which has recently opened in Marbella.
One of the differential values our company is offers is the personal attention that the client or developer receives in our showrooms. We care greatly about our team and the service we provide to our clients, and so having our own Assembly team and Logistics service allows us to provide a top-quality service guaranteeing the success of the project. Through our Contract department, we also cover large scale projects, such as big developments, hotels, shopping centres and senior-living residences.
“Gunni & Trentino has been involved in many of the recent high-end projects going on Marbella. We specialise in a turnkey, full interior design services for high-end villas or apartments but coupled with our Contract department, we are used to working for bigger developments across the Costa del Sol and all over Spain. We are involved now with many of the important local projects like The Hills (12 high-end villas in Benahavís), The View (49 high-end apartments in Benahavís), Málaga Towers with Metrovacesa, Palo Alto’s 400 apartments, plus a new high-end, grand project coming soon in the Golden Mile of Marbella which is still a bit of a secret…. We are also involved in some of the luxury hotels like the Four Seasons in Madrid, and many others.
Protagonism and inclusion of art in homes; sculptural pieces, photographs or artistic paintings. Curvy minimalism, this is used a lot in the home, particularly in kitchens. It seeks to create more that break between the straight lines of architecture, and using upholstery such as velvet and curves to soften the space giving a more classic/ Andalusian touch.
Talk us through how you work with clients; what is the process and how do you approach each project?
Open spaces. More and more, the kitchen opens up and integrates with the rest of the house, so the design of the kitchen itself is one more element of decoration and style of the house as a whole. POLIFORM is amazing at combining these materials for high-end kitchens. This also happens with the bathroom; mixing special finishes for all the materials, taps, sanitaryware and furniture which creates a warmer feeling of the areas. Brands like GESSI are amazing at achieving this; the bathroom is not a bathroom anymore, it becomes a temple for relaxing and an escape for the levels of stress that we suffer nowadays.”

With the professional clients like developers, interior designers, architects and real estate companies, is a completely different process; we know how busy everybody is, so we try to be a “righthand” for them, helping their teams with the design and selection for all the things concerning their projects, supplying samples to show to their clients, etc. We help them to become more efficient and cost effective.

For many of the projects, we have the final client or the developer stepping into our showroom directly, who sits and discuss with our technical team about the material selection, bathrooms, kitchen or wardrobes design, furniture project, etc. The good thing about our showroom in Marbella is that we have more than 1,000 m2 representing most of the top and exclusive brands, and we show many examples of materials, taps, bathrooms, wardrobes and kitchens…. so the client decides directly the style and the price-range that they are looking for. We offer to our clients the advantage of having one person throughout all the process, who helps to coordinate everything, increasing the efficiency, control and final results.

You deal with both clients seeking a home and investors seeking a project, how do they differ?
You have an architectural and project management division; can you tell us more about this part of the company?
“Yes. However, Solvilla has many properties in the pipeline and a lot to offer the market in the next few years. Our aim is to continue to provide great properties in the most selective areas of Marbella. We are currently leaning more towards off plan sales, simply because there are not enough finished products at this time to feed the demand.”
“Over the past few years there was a focus on refurbished properties because they are typically quicker projects. Also, the best plots have typically the oldest homes built on them and it was financially a better option to keep the basic structure. However lately, as construction costs and land costs have risen significantly, many plots are being emptied and brand-new homes built. In many cases it is better investment to knock down the existing house and go for a new build.”
We have the hospitals, the schools and an international community which allows residents to communicate in English only, if they prefer. If this trend continues, Marbella will become a town of half a million citizens and we will see the growth as such of a small urban city; more businesses, more sectors of businesses, extending past real estate, tourism and construction which dominate now.”
Living the Marbella Dream
“Marbella has the weather that beats most of the southern Mediterranean, including the south of France. But alongside the weather, think that this work from home barrier has been broken. Although some do not wish to jump on this “trend” of behaviour, the fact of the matter is that now people can work from anywhere and CEOs and business owners are able to manage their teams remotely and some of them are even relocating their businesses and team down in Marbella.
That is the main difference between a home seeker and an investor. An investor is looking for a good deal, even though sometimes it might be a bit complicated due to product scarcity. Then they can make the decision to flip it or to invest and make a good return out of it. What made Solvilla successful was not only end user transactions but also asset management and strategic investment, managing over €100M in private equity.”
You are heavily involved in developing property, as well as in sales, how has the last year been in terms of development? What percentages of your properties do you attribute to new build and what percentage accounts as reform/refurbishment?
79
Is desire outstripping available properties?
“The clients seeking a home come to Solvilla because they are seeking everything that comes along with that home, and the Marbella dream. They want their home ready to go and they are usually extremely busy people. For example, if you are the head of a large international company, you don’t have the time to buy a home that needs full attention when it comes to renovation or décor. You want something that is ready to go so that all you need to bring is your clothes and to start living.
I think this is the biggest reason we are seeing an increase in appetite. Not only is the weather fantastic but we have a vast offering of activities, plus the beach, so this perfect mix of assets is helping to fuel the boom.
“2021 was by far the most successful and incredible year to date, certainly in the years have been with Solvilla and my decade in real estate here in the Marbella area. Solvilla sold 123 properties, worth €488 million.”
Living theMarbella Dream
What is feeding this appetite for luxury property in Marbella?
Since the pandemic, the sale of luxury properties has skyrocketed in Marbella. InHabit speaks to Georges Rabbat, Senior Property Advisor at Solvilla to find out why.
“Solvilla offers a 360-degree service. Our inhouse team of architects and project managers cover everything that doesn’t involve brokerage and sales. Everything from the complete project, to supervising the client if they wish to manage the build, through to the snagging and aftersales. Our team can provide every single step until the client either moves in to the house or decides to sell.”
So, where we previously had people purchasing a second home and spending holidays in Marbella before slowly making the transition to bring the family here, I think this time frame is speeding up due to the dynamics of working from home.
Are there any projects coming up in the future that we can look forward to?
How have the demographics of your clients shifted in the last couple of years? Are you seeing a change in the nationalities seeking Marbella property, or do we have a shift in what property buyers are seeking from a property?
There is a small shift in what people are looking for in property here in Marbella. They definitely want a nice outdoor space because they are spending so much time in their homes now. A home office space is also important, sometimes even to a point where two offices are desired because both the husband and the wife are working from home. Second living rooms for children to be able to play their play stations and spend time with their friends outside of a more formal room. Homes that are open plan in style so that you can be in the kitchen and see the pool, this is important for younger families to be able to always keep an eye on their children. This combination of little factors plays a huge role in whether a house is successful and can sell very fast, or sit on the market a little longer.
solvilla.es +34 952 765 info@solvilla.es060
Previously, homeowners were 45-65 and now we are seeing a younger demographic of even people in their 30s and many who are heads of companies who have sold their company and have a healthy budget to spend, without the need to require a mortgage or financial means to help.
“Before this Nordic wave, the Brits took around 20% of the market. I would say that the Brits have dropped recently to around 10% and the Scandinavians have come in full force. However, in this past year, the clients are completely global; Americans, Asians, Latin Americans, Central Americans, Danish, Polish, Irish, but the majority of our clients are still the Scandinavians. We also see an increase in French clients, who perhaps were more interested previously in going to the south of France but have now decided to venture down to the south of Spain. With everything that Marbella has to offer, it is a better destination for them.
What advice would you give to someone considering making an investment in property in Marbella? Equally, what would you say to someone debating moving their family to the area from overseas?
“Speak with Solvilla! We welcome anyone interested in investing or choosing a home to contact us, but seriously, choosing the right partner to help you make the best investment is key, and Solvilla has a proven track record in helping many invest in luxury property in the prime areas in Marbella. Don’t look for a partner seeking to make a quick deal and commission, seek an investment partner interested in the long-term relationship, already established in Marbella, and finally, always stick to the prime locations.”
These people are not with the intention of selling again in Marbella soon, these are people seeking to create a full-time home in Marbella.”
“Solvilla is developing a very exclusive project in Benahavis called The Hills, which is a prestigious gated community of modern villas with views to the Mediterranean. Additionally, we have been selling in record time a gated community of contemporary homes in the Golf Valley called Los Olivos. As well as multi-unit developments, we have been responsible for single villa projects in La Cerquilla, Las Brisas and Aloha areas. One of our latest was a project of two villas called Aloha 1381 and Aloha 138-2, which sold a few weeks after the launch. Aloha was developed by Solvilla, built by Atlas Group and with architecture from Carlos Lamas.”

“To alert our staff about a possible home intrusion, passive infrared movement sensors (PIR) work to attract the infrared energy emitted by people and send the energy through complex filter systems and “pirosensor” mirrors. This allows the security alert to be very specifically reviewed. Video surveillance is also a popular security system. Connected to the video web servers, you can watch your home or business from any part of the world, if you are connected to the internet. In the same way, we offer home domotics integration, allowing the control of security systems possible from the click of a button on your mobile phone. Marbejer also offers “video-analysis system Davantis” which is the most advanced and complete video security system on the market. It can track a moving target and provide highdefinition picture quality, as well as night vision technology which is triggered by motions sensors. This means that the system is not running unless there is something to trigger it, at the home. These alerts notify our security team immediately, to verify the event. Marbejer also offers access control for the opening of exterior doors and garages for example and methods to alert in the case of fire, plus our highly qualified team will assemble and install safes in your private residence.” 687 517 654 info@marbejer.com

Luxury is a subjective concept that each person perceives and experiences in a different way. But in general, when we ask this question, the first thing we think of are aspects such as the quality of the materials, the dimensions of the property, a privileged location with views, outdoor areas with gardens and swimming pool and design architecture and decoration. In addition to all this, the technological equipment is another element that defines a high-end villa.
It is in this last aspect that PROINSERMANT has a lot to say. For PROINSERMANT Comfort Engineering, the technical installations are what really complements the external beauty that results from the combination of all the aspects combined.
We install home cinemas, gaming rooms and multifunctional rooms, using the most advanced acoustic and audio-visual technology. In the installation of the cinema room, hidden loudspeakers are integrated, retractable screens are placed in the ceiling, walls, or furniture, so that the home cinema project is perfect.

ADANA enlisted the services of architect Juan Salvador Martin Galan and specialist engineer Francisco Sanchez Navarro to create the complete project, approved by the Ayuntamiento of Estepona and under the guidance of the president of ADANA Susan Brown. Atlas Group have been entrusted to complete the building works. The company has long been a supporter of ADANA and for years has sponsored a kennel at the shelter.
Susan Brown, ADANA President, said; “We are making history with the renovation, and it has been a project 30 years in the making. All the works have been totally funded by the friends and volunteers of ADANA; we do not receive any financial assistant from national or local government, surviving on public donations alone. These donations allow us to continue our efforts to save the abandoned dogs and ensure that they are rehomed successfully in the local area. We wish to thank all of those who have helped us with our mission so far and helped us to make this happen. We could not have done this without you. We continue to seek donations to help us reach the target of the renovation project and to help us continue to look after the dogs in our care.”
Mike Gregory, Director General of Atlas Group, said; “We are thrilled to be working alongside ADANA to provide the long-awaited renovations to the shelter. Atlas Group first sponsored a kennel back in 2014, when I adopted my dog Max, and since then we have continued to support this worthy cause. The entire team at ADANA do a fantastic job and we congratulate them on their dedication and hard work.”

These works are required to bring the animal shelter up to the modern levels required for their application of a new Zoological Licence, which means that ADANA will become THE official animal shelter in the Estepona, with plans to incorporate the areas of Manilva and Casares too.
Now, ADANA is set to receive a long-awaited improvement, a large renovation to the shelter which will be delivered by leading Costa del Sol construction company Atlas Group.
ADANA , Association for the Rights of Abandoned Animals, was established in 1990 and has, to date, found forever homes for over 9000 dogs. Situated in Parque Los Pedregales, Estepona, the organisation is run by volunteers and the centre relies on donations to provide the care and attention for abandoned animals. ADANA rescues over 400 dogs a year, helping to rehome dogs recovering from sickness or injuries and also provides a safe haven for abandoned pregnant dogs so that their puppies can be born safely at the shelter.

The project includes a new sewage system with a biodegradable storage process unit to protect the surrounding environment, a new roof to cover nine of the patio areas for the dogs, a new fire alarm and escape installation, and an upgrade in the solar electrical generation system. Finally, the addition of a new standby generator to cover the future expansion of the shelter. The total cost of the project stands at €188,000 and ADANA is continuing to work to gain the funds to cover the works.
Every detail of Cross Turismo denotes a passion for adventure. One of the priorities when designing this
modelwas to make it suitable for transporting golf, surfing, and even diving equipment, so the cargo space has been specially taken care of. With the backrest folded down in the rear seats, the Cross Turismo offers a cargo capacity of almost 1,200 litres. And this high level of versatility is joined by standard features such as all-wheel drive, air suspension and Performance Plus battery.
The Cross Turismo also offers a special solution for cycling enthusiasts: more or less at the point where the exhaust pipes are located on vehicles with a combustion engine, this electric Porsche can be fitted with two rails to install a stand that allows you to carry up to three electric bicycles. “We want to reach those customers who want a one hundred percent electric car capable of accompanying them not only on a day-to-day basis, but also on their travels and leisure activities,” says Stefan Weckback.

The Taycan Cross Turismofrom Porsche
Thirst for adventure in every element
The brand’s first five-door CUV combines typical Porsche dynamics with the offroad qualities of a high-tech chassis. “The Cross Turismo is the perfect complement to the existing Taycan family,” says Stefan Weckbach, Vice President, Taycan Range. “It is very versatile and, despite its robustness, it is almost as sporty as the saloon.”
Flat front marked wheel arches and a roof line that slopes down towards the rear. At first glance, the design of the new Porsche Taycan Cross Turismo hints at the DNA of the iconic 911. Its headlights attached to the vertical air intakes clearly identify it as a member of the Taycan family but despite this, Zuffenhausen’s second electric sports car is a Porsche unlike any other.
Space for adventure
Versatile, robust and ready for all kinds of adventures. Introducing the Porche Taycan Cross Turismo, the brand’s first Cross Utility Vehicle (CUV). A fully electric sports car with convincing range and a spacious design.
Despite the challenges, the car developed very quickly. Porsche first unveiled the Mission E Cross Turismo concept at the Geneva Motor Show in early 2018. “The concept was characterized primarily by its attractive design with striking offroad elements,” recalls Weckbach. In light of good reviews, the Porsche AG Board of Management approved the project for series production in October 2018, at a time when the original Taycan saloon was also still under development. It is a clear sign of the brand’s firm commitment to promoting electric mobility and the Cross Turismo accepted orders from March 2021.
A key characteristic of the Cross Turismo is its ability to drive on all roads, thanks to the adaptive chassis with air suspension, which allows raising the height of the body, and the “gravel” mode to roll on surfaces in poor conditions. With the optional Offroad Design Package, the Cross Turismo achieves an extra 30mm of ground clearance. When speed increases on a flat section, the chassis moves closer to the ground to increase aerodynamic efficiency. “The most difficult thing was combining the dynamic qualities of a sports car with those of a vehicle that can roll on tracks,” says Stefan Weckbach.
