Good Harvest Organic Farm kicked off their first Curated (side) Plate events with the Lunch & Learn series, teaming up with lots of local legends including Shaw from Nourishing Wholefoods for a Fermentation Fun Workshop.

Attendees started their morning with delightfully tasty, organic coffee from Montville Coffee before learning how to wild-ferment their seasonal produce to create delicious sauerkraut at home. Following the workshop, Good Harvest Founder and Australian Organic Farmer of the year, Mick Dan, took guests for a tour of the farm.

A well-earned appetite was appeased with a delicious Moroccan Carrot and Chickpea Soup made by the local team at Frankie’s Woombye and served with breads by The Wonky Loaf and Bread Eaters Association

The following day saw a group of 40 keen growers come for the Lunch & Learn – Home Grown Goodness Workshop But first, coffee! Montville Coffee again delivered the goods thanks to the lovely Karen.

The morning was led by Mick and Good Harvest’s Farm Manager Brendan who took the group through a classroomstyle intensive workshop covering everything that goes into creating a successful organic veggie garden at home - from soil health to compost, pest management, crop rotation and planting guides. The ‘students’ were then taken on a farm tour to see firsthand how the theory they learned in the morning can be applied to their home garden.

No lesson is complete without homework and this was issued by way of taking home a strawberry plant to start them on their home gardening journey.

The Good Harvest team absolutely loved having so many wonderful guests out to the farm and sharing their knowledge and passion for all things organic farming.
