The reports are in, interstate and international buyers are relocating to Noosa in droves! Deb Caruso asks a local expert why - and how - to make the move to paradise easier.

“Tree-change, sea-change, life change!” Christine Mount, founder of Luxe Coastal Property Buyers, explains that the drivers for a geographical relocation are as personal and unique as the people making the decisions to change the state or country where they live.

“The dream may be inspired by financial drivers, health, retirement, chasing an outdoor lifestyle, a better future for children - or to follow family and friends who have already made the move,” Christine says.

“Everyone has their own reasons for pursuing a luxe life.”

With thirty years of industry expertise in residential, commercial and investment sales and property management and a Business Degree in Property Valuations, Christine’s career began in Melbourne’s historic warehouse homes before moving to Singapore to manage strategic property investments.

She understands the trials and tribulations of repatriation and finding a sense of community when returning home after living overseas.

Inspired by her property background and personal experience of living her own ‘luxe life in Noosa’, Christine now guides expat, interstate and locals on how to make a lifestyle move.

From property consultation to settlement, Christine leads an all-female team that has more than 15 years of local knowledge, in both Hinterland and coastal properties.

Having relocated to Noosa for health reasons, Christine uses her experience to understand a client’s motivation to move and to ensure their new home matches their dreams and aspirations.

While she landed on her feet and found her community, Christine knows it’s not all smooth sailing for expats returning home or relocating to a new community.

“The lure of an exciting new life where you can swap the exhausting ‘treadmill’ for a stunning natural environment seems to be an easy decision but the key to a successful move takes careful consideration and planning,” she says.

“Reverse culture shock and integrating into a new domestic environment are often on top of the trouble list.

“There are also many logistical hurdles to overcome when dreaming of moving to a lifestyle location like Noosa.

“You have to be honest with yourself about what you and your family desire and be clear on your end goal. Gathering relevant data and key information is critical to ensuring you make a fully informed decision.”

While keeping an eye on the real estate fundamentals, Christine acts in the best interests of her clients to balance the emotional and practical considerations of purchasing a home, particularly when it relates to a significant geographical shift.

As a buyer’s agent, Christine and her team go beyond the transaction and surround themselves with local professionals and experts in their chosen field to ensure clients have a soft landing and are able to build community connections and support immediately.

One of the ways Christine does this is to provide Lifestyle and Property Tours for clients to explore the lifestyle location through the lens of finding a “home”, not simply a vacation spot.

“Living here is very different to holidaying here,” she said. “The bespoke tours and advice allow clients to experience the area through the practical lens of a local.

“for example, if you are living in a big city or abroad, you aren’t likely to be familiar with how hinterland acreage properties operate or how to find your feet in small coastal towns.

“We provide all the resources to help the buyer be fully informed, so a decision can be made with eyes wide open and to mange expectations to enable a gentle entry into a whole new life.

“Fortunately, the community spirit in this region is second to none,” she said.

“One thing is certain, your luxe life is uniquely yours – you just need the courage to jump in and do it!”

CONSIDER THIS...

The excitement of a lifestyle change is often combined with fears of the unknown. Christine recommends asking these questions when considering a relocation:

• Is there a major city or international airport within a two-hour drive?

• What about work and career goals? Are there co-working spaces and access to high-speed internet?

• Is there access to art and culture?

• Is there a selection of food, fashion and shopping?

• What is the quality of schools like? How will my children settle into a new life?

• Where do I find quality coffee, restaurants, and bars ?

• How will I build community connections?
