THE TIME
“Most successful organizations fail to look for new things their customers want because they’re afraid to hurt their core businesses.” – Reed Hastings, CEO of Netflix
E TO CHANGE IS NOW. Digital technologies and the mountains of data are changing all industries. The utility industry is not immune. Many industry leaders believe the need to change will be required for utilities to survive. The top-down business model that utilities have always used will be turned upside down. As we see declining sales and diminishing load, the need for a solution has never been more apparent. But changes are nothing new to electric cooperatives. Beginning 75 years ago, the story of electric cooperatives tells about the innovation of the visionary leaders that changed the landscape of rural America. Right now, we face a similar crossroads. Today’s leaders will set the trajectory for future generations. The digital revolution will provide tremendous opportunities for utilities willing to grasp a new platform.
Will your cooperative survive?

This model creates a built environment that connects people, digital services, data and infrastructure.
smart COMMUNITIES The new Smart Communities model was designed to help communities see new opportunities for smart technologies through collective and engaging planning for a sustainable future.
