WORD FROM THE PRESIDENT The consensus among civil society actors is that the 2016 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP22) only partially met the goal of creating a framework for true climate justice. Although media outlets around the world have commented on the "resignation of states" in regard to effective legislation for curbing global warming, they have recognized the commitment and dynamism of civil society organizations - a very powerful statement on the need for effective action. We at Dar Si Hmad are proud to be among those actors who have made a difference and who continue today to work for a better world. Our initiatives may be small, but they are effective, successful, and add significant value not only to our beneficiaries, but to the environmental movement as a whole. We close 2016 with a strong record. This year we received international recognition for our fog harvesting project. We are particularly proud to have helped advance fog-collection technology to a new level of perfection. Our RISE & THRIVE program was an overwhelming success, including more than 250 hours of professional development workshops delivered to local youth, and culminating in an impressive array of final projects. The project's funder commended Dar Si Hmad as an exemplar of a successful partnership. Three of our RISE & THRIVE beneficiaries traveled to the White House in Washington, D.C. to participate in the Let Girls Learn initiative led by then First Lady Michelle Obama - a milestone in our commitment to progressive and inclusive education. Our Water School also experienced noteworthy growth, mobilizing numerous volunteers and donors from all over the world. And finally, our commitment to women’s empowerment in the Aït Baâmrane region furthers our mission: to promote local culture and create sustainable initiatives through education and the integration of scientific ingenuity within the communities of Southwest Morocco. 4

‫كلمة الـــــــرئيس‬ ‫الجهــات الفاعلــة يف املجتمــع املــدين تتفــق باإلجــاع عــى أن االتفاقيــة‬ ‫اإلطاريــة بشــأن تغــر املنــاخ (كــوپ ‪ )22‬لســنة ‪ 2016‬ماهــي إالّ خطــوة‬ ‫أوليــة لتحقيــق عدالــة مناخيــة حقيقيــة‪ .‬ورغــم أن وســائل اإلعــام يف‬ ‫العــامل علّقــت عــى ‘تراجــع الــدول’ عــن رســم قانــون فعــال للحــد‬ ‫مــن اإلحتبــاس الحـراري‪ ،‬إال أنهــا نوهــت بالتـزام و ديناميــة منظــات‬ ‫املجتمــع املــدين كترصيــح قــوي لتصويــر الحاجــة لتدابــر فعالــة‪ .‬نحــن‪،‬‬ ‫جمعيــة دار يس حــاد‪ ،‬فخــورون بانتامئنــا لفعاليــات املجتمــع املــدين‬ ‫املحدثــة للتغيــر و العازمــة عــى العمــل مــن أجــل عــامل أفضــل‪.‬‬ ‫مبادراتنــا قــد تكــون صغــرة الحجــم لكنهــا فعالــة‪ ،‬و ناجحــة‪ ،‬و لهــا‬ ‫وقــع كبــر ‪ ،‬ليــس فقــط عــى املســتفيدين ‪ ،‬بــل عــى حركــة اجتامعيــة‬ ‫أكــر تهتــم ببيئتنــا‪.‬‬ ‫أســدلنا الســتار عــى ســنة ‪ 2016‬بحصيلــة قويــة‪ .‬يف هــذه الســنة‪،‬‬ ‫تحصلنــا عــى اعــراف دويل عــن مرشوعنــا لحصــد الضبــاب‪ .‬نحــن‬ ‫فخــورون بدورنــا يف تطويــر تكنولوجيــا حصــد الضبــاب ملســتوى جديــد‬ ‫مــن النجاعــة‪ .‬برنامجنــا رايــز و ثرايــڤ كان عــى مســتوى مبهــر مــن‬ ‫النجــاح‪ ،‬حيــث وفــر مــا يزيــد عــن ‪ 250‬ســاعة مــن ورشــات التنميــة‬ ‫املهنيــة لصالــح شــباب املنطقــة‪ ،‬وليتكلــل الربنامــج مبجموعــة مبهــرة‬ ‫مــن اقرتاحــات املشــاريع‪ .‬رشيكنــا املــايل يقــدم دار يس حــاد كنمــوذج‬ ‫مثــايل عــن ال ـراكات الناجحــة‪ .‬ثالثــة مــن املســتفيدين مــن الربنامــج‬ ‫اســتفادوا مــن زيــارة للواليــات املتحــدة و للبيــت األبيــض بالعاصمــة‬ ‫واشــنطن‪ ،‬يف إطــار مبــادرة «لنــرك فتياتنــا تتعلمــن» تحــت قيــادة‬ ‫الســيدة األوىل‪ ،‬ميشــيل أوبامــا ‪ --‬حــدث بــارز يف التزامنــا بنهــج‬ ‫تربــوي تقدمــي و شــامل‪ .‬برنامجنــا ملدرســة املــاء عــرف كذلــك ازدهــارا‬ ‫جديـرا بالذكــر‪ ،‬وذلــك بتعبئــة متطوعــن وممولــن مــن مختلــف بقــاع‬ ‫العــامل‪ .‬و يف الختــام‪ ،‬التزامنــا بتقويــة النســاء مبنطقــة أيــت باعم ـران‬ ‫أســاس خالــد لســرورة مهمتنــا ‪ :‬تعزيــز الثقافــة املحليــة‪ ،‬وخلــق‬ ‫مبــادرات مســتدامة عــر الرتبيــة واالدمــاج واعتــاد الرباعــة العلميــة‬ ‫برشاكــة مــع ســاكنة الجنــوب الغــريب للمغــرب ‪.‬‬ ‫‪5‬‬

‫نــود أن نشــكر مــرة أخــرى و باســتمرار‪ ،‬كل مــن وثــق بنــا و أتــاح لنــا‬ ‫الفرصــة ملســاعدته‪ .‬نخــص بالشــكر ممولينــا الذيــن بفضــل دعمهــم و‬ ‫ثقتهــم‪ ،‬رســمنا مبادراتنــا عــى أرض الواقــع‪.‬‬

MOT DU PRÉSIDENT Le consensus parmi les acteurs de la société civile est que les résultats de la COP22 restent loin des espérances et des attentes pour asseoir une vraie politique de lutte contre le réchauffement climatique. Bien que nombre de mass médias mondiales aient commenté sur cette "démission des états", ils étaient tous nombreux à reconnaître l’engagement et le dynamisme de la société civile, un rappel puissant de la nécessité de mise en place d’une action efficace. Nous, Dar Si Hmad, sommes fiers de compter parmi ces acteurs qui ont fait une différence et qui continuent aujourd’hui encore à œuvrer pour un monde meilleur. Nos initiatives se targuent d'être à petite échelle, mais elles sont efficaces, créent les effets escomptés, et apportent une plus-value non seulement aux participants, mais aussi à un mouvement social soucieux de protéger notre planète. Nous clôturons 2016 avec un bilan très positif, cette année nous avons reçu une reconnaissance internationale pour notre projet de brouillard. Nous sommes particulièrement fiers d’avoir contribué à faire avancer la technologie de collecte de brouillard à un nouveau palier de perfection. Notre programme RISE-THRIVE fût un succès auprès des jeunes qui ont suivi une formation de pointe couvrant quelques 250 heures, et couronnée par des projets inédits. Notre bailleur de fond nous cite comme exemple réussi de coopération. Quelques unes des jeunes filles à avoir voyagé à la Maison Blanche à Washington fait justement partie de nos lauréates ; Let the Girls Learn de Mme Obama, reste pour nous un jalon dans notre engagement pour une éducation éclairée et inclusive. Notre école de l’eau fut aussi un accomplissement, elle a mobilisé des volontaires et des âmes charitables de part le monde. Et finalement, notre engagement auprès des femmes de la région des Aït Baâmrane continue à nous

conforter dans notre mission de créer des initiatives durables à travers l’éducation, l’intégration et l’utilisation de l’ingéniosité scientifique pour créer de nouvelles opportunités au sudouest du Maroc. DAR SI HMAD AT COP22 Dar Si Hmad participated in the United Nations Climate Change conference (COP22) in Marrakech this November, 2016. While no official numbers have been released by the organizers, we believe our booth was visited by roughly 5,000 people. Our stand in the Green Zone showcased the organization’s projects, presenting them to local and international visitors. Two important artifacts were on display in the booth: an art piece by the renowned Moroccan artist Hassan Darsi (a 3D interpretation of the Fog Project, entitled The Sacred Space, Boutmezguida) and a model of our new technology, the CloudFisher fog-nets. Thematic posters, interactive content, and videos, allowed visitors to see how climate change has impacted the communities with whom we work. But what singled out the visitors experience to our booth was tasting fog-water, interacting with the miniature model of fog-collection, and leaving a written ‘trace’ on the whiteboard of her and hispassage. To focus on science, DSH organized a side event, Building with Fog: Scaling and Adaptation using Fog as a WaterSource, featuring key-actors in the field of fog-collection technology: Maria V. Marzol-Jaen from the Geography and History Department at University La Laguna in Tenerife, Spain; Engineer Peter Trautwein from the Wasserstiftung Water Foundation in Munich, Germany; Dr. Leslie Dodson from the Tifawin Institute in Colorado, USA; and Dr. Jamila Bargach and Dr. Aissa Derhem, the Executive Director and President of Dar Si Hmad respectively. The DSH Environmental Youth Ambassadors held two Agora events on Environmental Education and Youth, where they presented their work experience with Dar Si Hmad. They spoke about educating and advocating for environmental sustainability and conservation, through youth-led community events, social media and video production.

DAR SI HMAD À LA COP22 Dar Si Hmad a été parmi les acteurs associatifs présent lors de la conférence des Nations Unies pour les changements climatiques (COP22) en Novembre 2016 à Marrakech. Plus de 5000 personnes venus des quatre coins de la planète ont visité le stand de DSH à la Zone Verte. Notre stand exposait deux objets importants dont une œuvre d’art du célèbre artiste marocain Hassan Darsi : Espace Sacré, Boutmezguida qui est une interprétation 3D du projet de brouillard, et un modèle miniature du CloudFishers, la nouvelle technologie de collecte de brouillard. Des affiches thématiques et un contenu visuel interactif ont illustré les effets du changement climatique sur les communautés avec lesquelles nous travaillons. Mais ce qui a marqué nos visiteurs, c’est l’expérience de goûter l’eau de brouillard, de toucher et palper de près le modèle des filets, et de laisser un témoignage écrit de son passage sur les tableaux ; une expérience invitant tous les sens. Durant ce sommet international, DSH a organisé un Side-Event sur le projet de brouillard, avec la participation des acteursclés dans cette technologie : Dr Maria V. Marzol-Jaen du Département de géographie et d’histoire de l’université de La Laguna, Tenerife en Espagne, L’ingénieur Peter Trautwein de la Fondation Wasserstiftung, la Fondation de l’eau à Munich, en Allemagne, Dr Leslie Dodson de l’Institut Tifawin, au Colorado, aux États-Unis, et Dr Jamila Bargach et Dr Aissa Derhem, Directrice et Président de Dar Si Hmad respectivement. Les Jeunes Ambassadeurs de l’Environnement de DSH ont organisé deux événements Agora sur l’éducation environnementale et la jeunesse, où ils ont présenté leur expérience d’éducation et de plaidoyer pour la préservation de l’environnement dans la région d’Agadir. FOG We close this year with the recognition of 4 international prizes for the fog-collection project. The United Nations: the project received the prestigious UNFCCC “Momentum for Change” Award, which recognized women’s incredible contribution to the project. Zaina Hamou Ali, a young woman from the village of Sidi Ifni along with our director Dr. Jamila Bargach, attended Mr. Ban Ki-moon’s opening speech for the award ceremony, where he praised the award winners. The Swiss Cooperation: finalist in Climate Initiative for Francophone Africa, our project was recognized as one of the most innovative of the competition pool. France-based Agency of the Environment and Energy (ADEME): trophy for “Adaptation to Climate Change, category Ecosystems and Natural Resources.” Prize awarded by Mme Ségolène Royale, who commented on the unique nature of such an endeavor. The International Conference on Fog, Fog Collection, and Dew (in Poland): awarded the project the Prize for Relevance in Society. (awarded to our advisor Dr. Leslie Dodson).

Like an abstract painting, the fog project yields many different perspectives to all those who view it. It can tell a tale of adaptation, of community-transformation, of technical achievement, and many more depending on who is contemplating it. But whatever the perspective, the one reality that runs through, is that fog fascinates. It is a living entity that crosses many boundaries, like between wet and dry, calling attention to itself and to the natural world. Fog can turn from gas into water, producing an amazing effect right in front of one’s eye, and creating a moment of awe. We at DSH use this fascination with fog to address the environmental challenges that are all around us. Our mission is to educate youth and to bring awareness to the fact that our planet is a living entity in need of our utmost care. Our human needs and desires cannot be the justification for “practicing business as usual;” there is an imperative to change our behavior and fight for true climate justice.

PROJET DE BROUILLARD Cette année a été marquée par l’attribution de quatre prix internationaux pour le projet de brouillard. Les Nations Unies : le projet de brouillard a gagné le prestigieux prix « Momentum for Change », octroyé par la Convention-cadre des Nations Unies sur les changements climatiques (CCNUCC), ce prix des Nations Unies a reconnu la contribution essentielle des femme à la réalisation du projet. La Coopération Suisse : finaliste de Initiative Climat Afrique Francophone et reconnaît le projet comme le plus innovant en afrique francophone. Initiative portée par l’Agence de l’Environnement et de la Maîtrise de l’Energie (ADEME, France) : trophée de l’Adaptation au Changement Climatique, catégorie «Ecosystèmes et ressources naturelles, » prix présenté par Mme Ségolène Royale qui a noté le caractère unique de cette initiative. Conférence Internationale sur le Brouillard, sa Collecte et la Rosée en Pologne a récompensé le projet avec le prix « Pertinence pour la Société » prix octroyé à notre conseillère Dr Leslie Dodson. A l’instar d’une peinture abstraite, le projet de brouillard peut être vu de plusieurs perspectives. Il peut raconter une histoire d’adaptation climatique, de transformation sociale, d’aboutissement technique, et bien d’autres selon celui ou celle qui la contemple. Mais de toutes ces perspective, une vérité est présente : le brouillard fascine car il est une entité vivante qui traverse les frontières entre humide et sec, attirant l’attention sur lui-même et sur la nature. Il peut se transformer de l’état gazeux à l’état liquide, produisant un effet étonnant, de l’ordre de l’émerveillement.

Nous à Dar Si Hmad, nous utilisons cette fascination pour attirer l’attention quant aux défis environnementaux qui nous entourent. Nous nous attachons à notre mission éducative et ce en sensibilisant les jeunes que notre planète, vivante, a besoin de protection, qu’il est important de nous rappeler que besoins et désirs humains ne peuvent être l’unique raison qui justifie notre mode de vie actuelle, mais que nous devons changer notre comportement et militer pour une vraie justice climatique.

BLED PROGRAMMING In 2016, we continued our engagement with the Aït Baâmrane community. The women of the fog-water fed villages participated in a series of WASH trainings and capacitybuilding workshops led by professionals with the intention of helping them engage in fund-generating activities. We feel privileged to have worked, and to continue working, with these women who have a passion for and intimate knowledge of their world. In our work within the greater community, all village residents were able to participate by voting in a DrivenData Competition of fog-collection modeling. Our engagement is always mutually beneficial and community voting on big-data modeling is one such example. For the younger generation in the village, our e-learning project provided educational assistance to girls attending high school and residing in rural dorms. These students have no study-support and have very few opportunities to continue on to higher education. Dar Si Hmad teaches classes, delivers mock exams, and trains the students on how to take exams, so that their chances of attending university are increased.

PROGRAMMATION AU BLED En 2016, nous avons poursuivi l’engagement avec la communauté de Aït Baamrane. Les femmes des villages bénéficiants de l’eau de brouillard ont participé à un ensemble de formations WASH et à des ateliers de renforcement des capacités dirigés par des formateurs professionnels. Objectif : initier ces femmes à entamer des activités génératrices de revenus. Nous nous considérons privilégiés d’avoir travaillé, et de continuer à travailler, avec ces femmes qui ont la passion pour et une connaissance intime de leur environnement. Ajoutant à cela, tous les villageois, hommes et femmes, ont pris part dans la compétition DrivenData de modélisation de la collection de brouillard en votant sur la meilleur visualisation des données. Notre engagement est toujours mutuellement bénéfique et ce vote communautaire en est un exemple signifiant. Pour les jeunes générations du village, notre projet de E-learning a fourni un soutien scolaire aux jeunes lycéens et lycéennes résidents en internat. Vu les conditions précaires de cet internat, les jeunes n’ont pas accès à un soutien pédagogique, manque qui compromet sérieusement la possibilité de poursuivre des études universitaires. Dar Si Hmad délivre des cours supplémentaires ainsi que des sessions de préparation aux examens afin d’augmenter la chance des bénéficiaires de poursuivre leurs études supérieures.

MEDIA COVERAGE This year, Dar Si Hmad was featured in numerous media outlets in Morocco and across the world. In February 2016, a show on national television channel 2M (“Kuluna Abtal”), dedicated a story to DSH and its fog harvesting project in Southwest Morocco. During COP22, Dar Si Hmad received outstanding media coverage, especially for its award-winning fog-harvesting project, which continues to be the world’s largest operational fog system. ETHNOGRAPHIC FIELD SCHOOL AND CENTER FOR RESEARCH SUPPORT In 2016, the work of volunteers and interns at Dar Si Hmad was a major highlight. Fulbright volunteers and US-based interns alongside young Moroccan volunteers and interns have transformed this yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s work experience into a meeting of passionate minds committed to learning and sharing. A group from WPI, the Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Massachusetts, helped to design some of our COP22 posters and carried out a botanical survey on Mount Boutmezguida. Another of this yearâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s groups from the Center for Language and Culture in Marrakech, completed an in-depth tour of Sidi Ifni and the fog-collection project. Both of these groups were able to engage with the rural world in enriching ways, discovering the wealth and traditions of this part of Morocco. We believe encounters of this nature can have transformative effects, calling upon our shared humanity in a world where prejudice is dangerously rampant.

ECOLE ETHNOGRAPHIQUE En 2016, le travail des bénévoles et des stagiaires à Dar Si Hmad était un événement majeur. Tous ces jeunes, du Maroc et des Etats-Unis, ont transformé l’expérience de travail de cette année en une intersection d’esprits passionnés et engagés dans l’apprentissage et pour le partage dans la joie et le bonheur. Un groupe d’étudiants de l’Institut Polytechnique de Worcester (WPI) a contribué à la conception de certaines de nos affiches pour la COP22 et a mené une enquête botanique sur la montagne Boutmezguida.

Un autre groupe, du Centre pour la Langue et la Culture à Marrakech, a réalisé une visite instructive à Sidi Ifni et au projet de collecte de brouillard. Ces deux groupes ont pu interagir avec le monde rural d’une manière fort enrichissante et ont découvert la richesse de la région. Nous avons la certitude que ce sont ces rencontres et ce type d’échange qui créent la transformation et qui nous rappellent quant à notre humanité commune dans un monde où le préjudice et la tendance à se fermer sont en forte croissance.

WATER SCHOOL This year, more than 86 rural children benefitted from our Water School program in the Smahra and Agni Zekri schools. The Water School uses art, engineering, science, and mathematics as learning tools for exploring water, sustainability, conservation, and environmental challenges. Children learn how to approach their natural world through science. This year, a new curriculum was developed by American Fulbright English Teaching Assistant Arielle Moss and Rebecca L. Farnum, a Marshall Scholar and Ph.D. Candidate at King’s College London. All of the Water School curriculum and activities have been approved by the Moroccan Ministry of Education’s local delegation in Sidi Ifni, an official partner in this project. Dar Si Hmad has translated and made available as an open-source curriculum on our website the 2016 Water School Curriculum, in order to offer this as a model to other organizations, nationally and overseas, with the hope that its content will be used to expand the Water School to other areas. The curriculum focuses on how innovative technology and teaching strategies can be brought and made accessible to underprivileged and remote communities.

ECOLE DE L’EAU Cette année, plus de 86 enfants dans le monde rurale ont bénéficié de notre programme d’école de l’eau dans les écoles Smahra et Agni Zekri. L’École de l’eau utilise l’art, l’ingénierie, les sciences et les mathématiques comme outils d’apprentissage pour explorer l’eau, la durabilité, la conservation et les défis environnementaux. Les enfants apprennent à utiliser la science pour comprendre leur environnement.

Cette année, un nouveau programme scolaire a été élaboré par Arielle Moss, assistante d’enseignement du programme américain Fulbright, et par Rebecca Farnum, doctorante au King’s College à Londres en Angleterre. Tous les programmes et activités de l’Ecole de l’Eau ont été approuvés par la délégation locale du Ministère marocain de l’Éducation à Sidi Ifni, partenaire officiel de ce projet. RISE & THRIVE In 2016, RISE & THRIVE programs trained 173 university students, young professionals and vocational-school students. The overall goal was the enhancing of participants’ employability and entrepreneurship skills. The programs trained youth in how to become competitive in the job market and how to maintain job security. The RISE program worked with 62 university students from Agadir while THRIVE, RISE’s partner program, offered its program at the Agadir vocational school, Centre de Formation par Apprentissage (CFA). The 110 THRIVE students were 1524 years-old, training in technical subjects such as car repair and maintenance, electrical repairs, and the Microsoft Office toolkit. Our official partner being the Delegation for Entraide Nationale, Agadir. During regularly scheduled classes, Dar Si Hmad staff and professional trainers worked closely with RISE & THRIVE participants to build their competencies. These students were coached for future jobs and careers while also building leadership skills, teamwork, ICT, financial skills and nurturing passion for civic engagement. RISE and THRIVE participants came together one week a month for joint trainings during the “Common Core” classes. A special conference was held at the end of each module and various extracurricular activities were scheduled each month, including a Journalism Club and English Conversation Hour sessions. Dar Si Hmad organized a graduation ceremony in July 2016. In the last module of the program, participants were challenged to work in small teams to develop business proposals. Winning projects, one each from the RISE and THRIVE cohorts, were awarded 5000 dirhams during the graduation ceremony to kickstart their projects. 22

RISE & THRIVE RISE & THRIVE ont formé 173 étudiants universitaires, apprentis et jeunes professionnels. Les deux programmes avaient comme objectif principal l’amélioration de l’employabilité et l’encouragement à développer l’esprit d’entrepreneuriat chez les bénéficiaires afin d’être compétitifs sur le marché de l’emploi. Cet objectif fut mis en œuvre à travers deux programmes parallèles de développement professionnel, nommé respectivement RISE et THRIVE. Une série d’ateliers personnalisés délivrés par des professionnels dans un cadre pédagogique interactif, intégrant les technologies de l’information, se sont déroulées durant les 10 mois du programme. Tous les participants ont bénéficié de sessions mensuelles de base ainsi que des conférences traitant des sujets liés au compétences soft-skills.

THRIVE est spécialement dédié aux apprentis du Centre de Formation par Apprentissage (CFA) à Agadir. gés entre 15 et 24 ans, ces jeunes apprennent des métiers tels que la mécanique des voitures, l’électricité et l’informatique. La Délégation de l’Entraide Nationale, Agadir étant notre partenaire officiel. Les participants se sont réunis une semaine par mois pour des ateliers conjoints. Ces sessions ont permis de renforcer leurs capacité et ouvrir une nouvelle fenêtre sur le monde. La palette des conférenciers ont traité de sujets pertinents à la vie de ces jeunes et à leurs intérêts. De plus, diverses activités annexes ont été programmées chaque mois, notamment le club journalisme et les groupes de discussions en Anglais. En fin du programme, Dar Si Hmad a organisé une cérémonie de remise des diplômes en juillet 2016. Dans le dernier module du programme, les participants ont été mis au défi de travailler en petites équipes pour élaborer des projets de fin de formation. Les projets gagnants, provenant des deux programmes RISE et THRIVE, ont reçu des prix de 5000 dirhams pour la mise en œuvre de leurs projets.

ENVIRONMENTAL YOUTH AMBASSADORS The Environmental Youth Ambassadors (EYA) program developed the environmental advocacy and professional skills of seven outstanding university students from Agadir. The EYAs participated in professional trainings on media and photography, assisted with Dar Si Hmad’s rural environmental education program, planned and coordinated three events for Agadir youth to raise awareness about environmental threats and innovative local solutions, and represented Dar Si Hmad at COY12 and COP22. Through these experiences, the EYAs developed their individual and collective teamwork, leadership, and problemsolving skills to become effective decision-makers and leaders in their communities. They also spurred conversation about critical environmental issues, engaging over 1,000 youth through online and in-person events. Featured activities organized by the EYAs:

The Ambassadors participated in COP22, along with Dar Si Hmad. In addition to serving as DSH’s representatives/ facilitators in our Green Zone booth, explaining innovative projects to more than 5,000 attendees, the EYAs organized two Agora side events, were interviewed for various media outlets, and led two other presentations while in Marrakech.

JEUNES AMBASSADEURS DE L'ENVIRONNEMENT Le programme des Jeunes Ambassadeurs de l’Environnement, appelés EYAs, a développé les compétences de plaidoyer environnemental et les aptitudes professionnelles de sept étudiants universitaires à Agadir. Les EYAs ont participé à des formations pointues sur les médias et la photographie, ont assisté à l’implantation du programme d’éducation environnementale rurale de Dar Si Hmad, ont planifié et coordonné quatre événements de sensibilisation et d’éducation à l’environnement pour les jeunes d’Agadir et ont représenté Dar Si Hmad aux COY 12 et COP 22.

Grâce à ce programme, les Ambassadeurs ont aiguisé leurs compétences, leur esprit d’équipe et la capacité à solutionner des problèmes pour devenir des jeunes leaders dans leurs communautés. Ils ont également animé diverses conversations sur des questions environnementales critiques, impliquant plus d’un millier de jeunes à travers des événements physiques et sur les réseaux sociaux. Les Ambassadeurs ont également participé à la COP22 à Marrakech avec l’équipe de Dar Si Hmad. SOCIAL MEDIA In 2016, Dar Si Hmad increased its efforts to communicate with the online community and to share its accomplishments and news with our donors, partners, alumni, and friends from around the world. In December 2016, Dar Si Hmadâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s Facebook page reached over 6900 likes, an increase of over 115% from 2015. With a number of 165 posts, Dar Si Hmad reached around 250,000 people from all around the world. With over 650 posts on our Twitter account, reaching 300 followers, we managed to increase the visibility of our projects through various streams, achieving more than 132,000 Twitter impressions and over 9,000 visits to our profile. Dar Si Hmad established Facebook groups for the RISE program as well as a Facebook page, Twitter profile, and Instagram account for the Environmental Youth Ambassadors in order to spread the word about their activities with the world. Our blog reached over 24,400 visits this year, offering a variety of articles about environmental-based action and projects, Moroccan history and culture, contemporary social issues, community education, and other fields. More than a dozen people from three countries contributed content. The blog was popular not only in Morocco, but also received a wide international audience from places including the USA, UK, Germany, Russia, France, Ukraine, and India.

En 2016, Dar Si Hmad a accru ses efforts pour renforcer la communication avec la communauté d’internautes, partager nos accomplissements et infos avec nos donateurs, nos partenaires, les anciens de DSH, et nos amis autour du monde. En Décembre 2016, la page Dar Si Hmad a dépassé 6900 « j’aime ». Une augmentation de plus 115% par rapport à l’année précédente. Avec un nombre total de 165 publications, Dar Si Hmad a touché environs 250 000 personne partout dans le monde. Avec plus de 650 publications sur notre compte Twitter, et à travers nos 300 abonnés, nous avons également renforcé la visibilité de nos projets, pour toucher un nombre de plus 132 000 délivrances au grand public, et plus de 9000 visites. Dar Si Hmad a aussi établi des groupes Facebook pour le programme RISE, une page Facebook, un compte Twitter, un compte Instagram pour nos Jeunes Ambassadeurs Environnementaux, afin d’assurer la communication de leurs projets avec le monde. Le Blog de Dar Si Hmad a atteint plus de 24 400 visites cette année, à travers une variété d’articles sur des projets et des actions environnementaux, les enjeux sociaux, l’éducation et d’autres champs. Notre blog a été consulté par un public marocain et international (Etats Unis, Royaume Uni, Allemagne, Russie, France, Ukraine, Inde…)

President Aissa Derhem brings an intimate knowledge of the South while his scientific background informs all of our projects.

Mr. Driss El Amrani is the director of Sahara Logistic, Casablanca and he brings his rigor and social engagement to Dar Si Hmad.

M. Driss El Amrani est le directeur de Sahara Logistic, Casablanca et Mr. El Amrani apporte sa rigueur et son engagement social à Dar Si Hmad.

Dr. Sanae Bekkali is a pharmacist who has found her voice in cinema and art. Dr. Bekkali is dedicated to supporting youth and was an advisor for the Ministry of Youth and Sports in 2010. Dr. Sanae Bekkali est docteur pharmacienne mais a trouvé sa voix dans le cinéma et l’art. Dr. Bekkali est dédiée à la cause des jeunes et fût à cet effet conseillère auprès du Ministère de la Jeunesse et Sport en 2010.

Un nouveau conseil d’administration sera élu en mars 2017. Nous tenons particulièrement à remercier ce conseil d’administration pour son service durant ces 3 dernières années.
