INT. PETER’S CAR. NIGHT The storm is getting worse the rain getting heavier, it begins to limit the vision of the car. Nothing else is on the road but the car. there is a flash of lightning followed in quick succession the roar of the thunder follows. LAURA Its like we’re driving straight into the center of the storm. PETER (Teasing) Why are you scared?! LAURA (Abruptly) NO! As peter is laughing there is another crack of thunder and lightning catching him of guard. They both spot a silhouette of a young girl standing at the side of the road drenched by the downpour of rain, the car comes to a sudden screeching due to the wetness of the road. PETER (In Shock) Is that a girl over there?! CUT TO: EXT. DESOLATE ROAD. NIGHT The mysterious girl at the side of the road is shivering, as they approach her they can see that she is wearing summer looking dress with a jacket over her shoulders. she walks up to the car and taps on the window on LAURA’S side of the car with one hand while clasping onto a teddy bear, the teddy bear is worn and has one of its ears missing. LAURA slowly winds down the window. LAURA (In shock) Do you need a lift anywhere? JADE (Raspy) My... home... is... that... way She points to the direction of the house, in the distance the house is barely visible by the glow of the lights inside the house. Peter pops his head to look at the girl.

PETER Sure, pop in. You must be freezing. CUT TO: INT. PETER’S CAR. NIGHT PETER So... what’s your name? JADE ...Jade Peter reaching behind him to get a extra jumper that he brought and passes it to JADE. she takes it wrapping it around herself and begins to stare out of the window. PETER So what are you doing out at this time of night in this god awful weather? LAURA (Worrying) You look pale, did you catch something while out in this weather? There is no reply from JADE. PETER looks up at the mirror, she seems oblivious just staring out into the darkness grasping onto her teddy bear, it is very sentimental to her, the atmosphere in the car seems to be slightly awkward. Some time passes with the silence CUT TO: EXT. DESOLATE ROAD. NIGHT There is more thunder and lightning as the car drives away into the distance, there is a mysterious man watching the car as it drives away. FADE TO: INT. PETER’S CAR. DUSK. The sun is rising, LAURA has fallen asleep with her head against the window, they are approaching the house as PETER looks back.

3. PETER We are almost...

He realizes that JADE is not there PETER’S extra jumper is still on the back seat covered in the rain water, he glances around outside the car while shaking LAURA awake. LAURA (Groggily) What...? She rubs her eyes and stretches. PETER Its Jade, shes gone! LAURA is still groggy, she starts to look around panicking. LAURA Where could she have gone?! PETER No idea, we haven’t stopped since we picked her up back there. they continue approaching the house, the lights are still on piercing the dark night. CUT TO: EXT. OUTSIDE JADE’S HOUSE. DUSK. Both PETER and LAURA from the ordeal they and awkwardly knocks said that she lived.

DAVE Hello, forgive my rudeness but what is it at this time at night? PETER (Awkward) Umm... this is going to sound weird... but we picked up a young girl on that road PETER gestures behind him. PETER ...She said her name was jade and she was wearing a summer dress and had a worn teddy bear. (CONTINUED)

There is a whimper from behind DAVE. It was HELEN she is grasping onto DAVE’S back and burying her head into his shoulder when she has gathered herself she confronts PETER HELEN (Trying not to cry) This... better not... be some sick joke... Jade was our daughter she went missing a couple of years ago... today would be her... HELEN begins to break down crying DAVE begins to comfort her. DAVE Today would be her birthday... PETER (Awkwardly) I... am sorry for you loss. DAVE I think you better leave... Dave closes the door and there is another outcry from HELEN as both PETER and LAURA leave they both exchange confused and guilty looks. CUT TO: EXT. DESOLATE ROAD. NIGHT JADE is standing next to the mysterious man watching the car go back down the road on to their original route, there is blinding flash of lightning when the light fades both JADE and the mysterious man are gone.
