Morris Thompson CULTURAL and VISITORS CENTER
Serving as the regional visitor facility, the Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center should be your first stop in Fairbanks. Both beautiful and informative, the center has brochures, maps and friendly and knowledgeable Explore Fairbanks staff with answers to all your questions.
Free to roam, the center also features 9,000 square feet of exhibits, offering a glimpse into life in the Far North with displays and dioramas about Interior Alaska’s people, wildlife, landscapes and seasons. Denakkanaaga and Tanana Chiefs Conference Cultural Programs share Alaska Native culture with visitors. The Alaska Public Lands Information Center offers an outdoor excursion trip planning area as well as an Alaska Geographic gift store.
Explore the grounds to find colorful Athabascan flower mosaics, a photogenic antler arch and a classic 100-year-old log cabin to peek inside for a vision of what life was like for Alaska’s gold rush era pioneers.
