Lying almost entirely within the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park - the UK’s only truly coastal National Park – the trail displays an array of coastal flowers and bird life, as well as evidence of human activity from Neolithic times to the present. In its entirety the Coast Path represents a formidable physical challenge - its 35,000 feet of ascent and descent is said to be equivalent to climbing Everest. The Pembrokeshire Coast Path is one of three national trails in Wales; The Pembrokeshire Coast Path, Offa’s Dyke and Glyndwr’s Way.
A Sunday Times Beach of the Year, Castle Beach is the small but perfectly formed. Use the easy access slipway to get down to this Blue Flag beach, feel the soft sand beneath your toes and cool off with a paddle at the shallow shore.

orth Wales is incredible…. It’s why it’s voted in the Top 10 places to visit in the Lonely Planet! With a unique culture, mythical heritage, a warm Welsh welcome and delicious local produce, North Wales offers some of the most stunning coastline and dramatic mountain ranges in the world. In this feature we bring together the uniqueness of North Wales with the best visitor attractions in the area – some of which are World firsts!
Snowdonia National Park Snowdonia National Park is one of the biggest in Britain, boasting the highest peak in England and Wales. But there’s far more to Snowdonia National Park than Mount Snowdon. The Park covers 823 square miles; nine mountain ranges lie within its
boundaries, containing over 90 peaks and 100 lakes - plenty of space for fantastic outdoor activities for every age and ability. With wild landscapes and villages steeped in history, Snowdonia National Park is a breath-taking destination for activity holidays, short breaks or days out with family and friends. It’s best known for hiking, but there’s plenty more to enjoy - from waterfalls, lakes and world-class mountain biking to a vintage steam railway that climbs the highest peak in Wales. Water sports and fishing are extremely popular here with plenty of lakes, rivers and coastline to enjoy!
Ffestiniog Railway The Ffestiniog Railway is the oldest independent railway company in the world - being founded by an Act of Parliament in 1832. It introduced the world’s first narrow gauge steam locomotives in 1863 and four of the original locos still remain. Over the last fifty years, the Ffestiniog Railway has become one of Wales’
top tourist attractions. Visitors to the railway can enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of Snowdonia as they pass through areas inaccessible by road and undisturbed by the sights and sounds of modern life. At Porthmadog, the line connects with the Welsh Highland Railway and trains to Beddgelert and Caernarfon.
Harlech Castle Harlech’s battlements spring out of a near-vertical cliff-face. Men of Harlech’, the nation’s unofficial anthem, loved by rugby fans and regimental bands alike, is said to describe the longest siege in British history (1461-1468) which took place here during the War of the Roses. The structure, overseen by Master of the King’s Works, James of St George, boasts two rings of walls and towers with an immensely strong gatehouse. When it was first built, a channel would have connected the castle and the sea. You could have sailed a boat up to the moat. Seven hundred years later, the sea has receded and you could say the castle appears almost stranded, waiting for the tide to turn once more.

Lloyd George Museum He grew up in Highgate cottage in the picturesque village of Llanystumdwy. In the Museum you can enjoy the film on his life in the theatre, see Lloyd George come to life through the “talking head”, and explore the unique collections including the first pension issued, a draft copy of the World War I peace treaty, costumes and much more. Snowdonia N
orth Wales is incredible….

The cottage, with its village shoemakers’ workshop, has been recreated as it would have been when he lived there between 1864-1880. In the Museum you can enjoy the film on his life in the theatre, see Lloyd George come to life through the “talking head”, and explore the unique collections including the first pension issued, a draft copy of the World War I peace treaty, costumes and much more. There is also a Victorian classroom which takes you back to the strict lessons of the time.

Your
Horoscopes for the coming month Aries
(March 21 - April 19)
You’ll have fun engaging in light repartee. Maybe you will make some colorful comments and your friends might lose themselves in laughter as you entertain them. You might even take on a comic character, complete with silly voice and exaggerated movements!
Taurus
(April 20 - May 20)
When it comes to relationships with others, be careful about insisting that everything be done your way and your way only. It could be that you have such high expectations of your partner that they will never be able to live up to your standards.
Gemini
(May 21 - June 20)
Cancer
(June 21 - July 22)
It may seem like parts of your life are changing beyond your control. More than likely, this is quite a scary thing for you since you may feel a loss of security and comfort when things suddenly slip away from your grasp. Try not to be so neurotic with important issues in your life. Responsibilities at home may be weighing on your mind today, and might interfere with other obligations. This might cause some inner conflict, but you have a personal life and it’s important to take care of these responsibilities as well.
Leo
(July 23 - August 22)
Sometimes it’s important to know which battles to fight and which conflicts to avoid. You could find yourself in a personal situation that is stirring up a lot of intense emotions for you. Before you overreact and express anger or fear, try to find a better way of handling this.
Virgo
(August 23 - September 22)
You will be dealing with a lot of money-related issues during this period and your horoscope predictions suggest that any financial speculations you make will be fruitful, though you will not indulge in impulsive spending; rather, you will be taking a more measured and careful approach.
Libra (September 23 - October 22)
You might have visions of grandeur regarding how you can save the world. This is extremely noble of you, but make sure that whatever you do is done one step at a time. Realise that before you save the world, you need to save yourself.
Scorpio
(October 23 - November 21)
You might hear from an old friend. If you haven’t spoken to an old school friend for a long time, you could be surprised when they call you up. Or if you haven’t spoken to your old school girlfriend/ boyfriend for a while, she might contact you out of the blue.
Sagittarius
(November 22 - December 21)
Confusion about metaphysical or spiritual matters could have you looking for clarification through research. Conversations with friends could prove beneficial, though it’s important to remember that they can be as perplexed as you are!
Capricorn
(December 22 - January 19)
Aquarius
(January 20 - February 18)
Sometimes you can be a little stuffy about sticking to traditions. You like relationships to proceed in a proper way, but sometimes it’s best to break with tradition. You could be in a personal situation that requires a more creative touch.
Vague and uncertain physical discomfort could have you feeling a bit out of sorts. Most likely you are not really ill; you’re tired and stressed out, but you can make it through the day. Disillusionment with someone whom you have admired could also be very much on your mind..
Pisces
(February 19 - March 20)
It is one thing to be a friend, and it is another to feed someone’s ego just to make them happy. Make sure that you aren’t telling someone a pack of lies just because you know that that is what he or she wants to hear.

Our top 10 caravans for 2021 Part one The Caravan and Motorhome Club’s CaravanDesign Awards are an annual competition for caravans, where manufacturers are invited to submit their tourers for evaluation. This year, they’ve evaluated the new caravans on the market and scored them out of five stars. Here are the top-rated caravans in their class - from best small caravan to the highest-rated six-berth model. Next month we’ll give you the lowdown on the top family-sized caravans.
1 Best Small Caravan
(750kg - 1150kg MTPLM)
Bailey Phoenix+ 420 £18,999
This might be the two-berth baby of the sevenmodel Phoenix caravan range, but it doesn’t mean it can’t pack a punch – especially if you’re after a smaller two-berth tourer with a generous washroom. It’s very keenly priced, too, as we’ve come to expect from any Bailey caravan.
2 Best Pop Top Caravan (over 1150kg) Eriba Touring Triton 430 £15,999
With its low profile when the pop-up roof is down and compact size, the Touring 60th Edition 542 is easy to tow. The ERIBA Touring 60 Edition is as distinctive and modern inside as you would expect from this icon of caravanning style. The anniversary model of the ERIBA Touring “ 60 Edition” also features distinctive, two-colour paintwork, which is the absolute highlight of this special model.

3 Best Two-Berth Caravan Coachman VIP 460 £26,705
Designed to provide the ultimate in luxury caravanning, the Coachman VIP 460 is the ideal motorhome for couples looking for fivestar accommodation on the move. It’s spacious too, with headroom to 6’5” and plenty of clever storage solutions to keep clothes, kitchen equipment and other essentials out of the way.
4 Best Caravan up to Four-Berth Adria Alpina Colorado £31,775
Alpina has always been a modern-looking tourer. The latest, streamlined look sports three large windows across the front that, at first glance, look like a single piece. Flush-fitting side windows keep up that wind-cheating appeal and there’s also an opening sunroof that follows the curve of the roofline. With the silver/grey finish to the GRP bodywork, you’re getting a very modern exterior look.
5 Best Caravan up to Six-Berth Buccaneer Aruba £35,894
The Buccaneer Aruba boasts all of the range’s opulent specification, creating a 6-berth family caravan par excellence! This clever layout has a large lounge, converting to a supersize double upfront, a wraparound dinette amidships - creating a further double - plus a fixed French-style double bed at the rear. The bright and airy lounge comfortably seats the whole family for dinner or just chilling.

It happened this month ...in1964:
...in1926: The General
Pitched battles between mods and rockers took place on the south coast over Whit weekend (18 and 19 May 1964), especially at Brighton, where fights lasted two days and moved along the coast to Hastings and back.
The 1926 general strike lasted nine days, from May 4-12, 1926. It was called by the General Council of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in an unsuccessful attempt to force the British government to act to prevent wage reductions and worsening conditions for 1.2 million locked-out coal miners.

A small number of rockers were isolated on Brighton beach where they - despite being protected by police - were overwhelmed and assaulted by mods. Eventually calm was restored and a judge levied heavy fines, describing those arrested as “sawdust Caesars.” Rockers generally wore protective clothing such as black leather jackets and motorcycle boots heavily influenced by Marlon Brando in The Wild One - while their favourite music was 1950s rock and roll. The mod subculture was centred on fashion and music, and many mods rode scooters. wore suits and other cleancut outfits, and listened to 1960s music such as soul, rhythm and blues and ska.

Strike begins
Some 1.7 million workers went out, especially in transport and heavy industry.
The government was prepared, and enlisted middle class volunteers to maintain essential services. According to a leading TUC researcher, Walter Milne-Bailey, “There has never been a more amazing display of labour solidarity and the effect of such a demonstration must inevitably be deep and enduring.”

Wars movie
Created by George Lucas, the eponymous 1977 film opened in London on May 25, and quickly became a worldwide pop-culture phenomenon. The franchise has been expanded into various films and other media, including television series, video games, novels, comic books, theme park attractions, and themed areas, comprising an all-encompassing fictional universe. In 2020, its total value was estimated at 70 billion US dollars, and it is currently the fifthhighest-grossing media franchise of all time.

Originating in Germany, in the Middle Ages, the Boxer was so named because of ‘boxing’ with their front paws whilst playing. The Boxer is a result of cross-breeding between a now extinct Bullenbeissern and an English Bulldog and was first recognised as a breed in 1896 along with the establishment of The Deutsche Boxer Club.
Your guide to Boxer
Appearance
Medium-sized dogs, Boxers are strong with a large head, strong neck, prominent jaw and a slightly flattened nose. They have big dark brown eyes and large upper lips for a powerful bite. Their short, smooth coats can be found in three colours: fawn, brindled (fawn with black stripes) and white. Tails are set high and are often docked. Boxers don’t carry a gene for black coat colours, so purebred black Boxers don’t exist.
Things to watch out for
Unfortunately, boxers are prone to various forms of cancer, so you should look out for changes in behaviour and report them to a vet. You should also avoid
44
walking a Boxer in strong sunlight which could put them at more risk of the disease. A Boxer’s diet needs to be high in calories as they expel so much energy. The main sources of their food should be chicken, lamb and fish.
Temperament
Boxers are incredibly energetic and require high levels of activity. Intelligent, curious and eager to play, they are especially good to train as they are very bright and quick to learn. Very loyal and faithful to their owners, these dogs make great companions and trustworthy guardians. This breed gets along really well with children but can be suspicious around strangers. If you get your boxer to socialise from an early age they should be able to get on with other dogs and pets.
Is a Boxer for me?
If you’re looking for a loyal, high-energy pet that requires little grooming, then the Boxer would be fantastic for you! Their alertness, agility and strength makes them super guard dogs and these animals can be used as guide dogs for the blind. They are fabulous devoted family pets as they are very friendly and will accept other pets you may have in your home.

History
Pugs are an ancient breed of dog originating in China and were thought to have been brought to Europe as far back as the 16th Century. They first gained popularity in the UK under the reign of Queen Victoria who had an interest in the breed, as pugs were often considered a symbol of royalty. The pug used to have a long and lean appearance, but due to breeding trends in the last century the pug as we know it today bears little resemblance to what it used to look like.
Appearance
Small but sturdy, pugs are surprisingly strong for their size. As they are such a popular breed, they have been bred to look a certain way, and can be characterised by their flat faces which places them in the brachycephalic group of dogs. Pugs have a glossy coat, are most often fawn or black in colour, and bear distinct wrinkles on their faces.
Temperament
Pugs are loyal, peaceful, playful and lovable. They are very intelligent yet stubborn; training may take some more time than other breeds, so don’t fall for those puppy dog eyes whenever food

is around– they know what they’re doing! Pugs are very expressive and, if welltrained and socialised, they are good around other dogs and children. Adult pugs spend most of the day sleeping, and were bred to be lap dogs, hence pugs will love unconditionally and cherish their human companionship.
Things to watch out for
Because pugs are a brachycephalic breed they often sadly have major health issues, notably respiratory issues and eye problems. If you are considering buying or adopting a pug, please ensure first that you choose one whose face is not dangerously flat, and check that they came from a responsible breeder.
Pugs are a calm, playful and loyal family dog. They do not require a lot of exercise and only need around half an hour a day, or two short walks morning and evening. They must not be walked in hot weather as pugs are vulnerable to heat due to their short nose. Pugs have a short coat but shed all year round, so you’ll need to be okay with lots of dog hair around the house.
Did you know?
Pugs are one of the gassiest breeds! However, there are things which can help, such as holding back on human food treats and getting a slow feeder bowl to stop them eating too much too quickly.
Snorting and wheezing in pugs is very common, and while some people may think it is cute, it is a result of selective breeding and ending up with a shortened nasal passage. It could also be a result

It’s worth how much? Six of the best car boot and attic finds
Being a bargain hunter can certainly pay off. Here we take a look at the lucky so-and-sos whose thrifty finds earned them a pretty penny or two. And not forgetting the attic gems that, despite the dust, were worth a mint.
1. Fabergé egg A savvy scrap metal dealer’s £8,000 splurge (slightly more expensive than your bog standard boot sale) at a brica-brac market was worth its weight in gold, quite literally. The extravagant Easter egg, decorated by diamonds and sapphires, was designed by Carl Fabergé in 1887 for the Russian Imperial Family and was valued at a whopping £20 million.
2. Renoir painting A bargain browser from West Virgina, bought a £5 box of junk from a flea market because she liked the look of a doll it contained. Unknown to the buyer, she’d only gone and discovered Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s “Paysage Bords De Seine” painting from 1879 in the process. Fast forward a valuation or two and she’d made a cool £50,000.
3. Mini Angel of the North At the Antiques Roadshow, a Gateshead Councillor took along a bronze model of Antony Gormley’s Angel of the North. Gormley had created this mini version, which stands at 6ft-high, to persuade the council to commission the large-scale piece that cost £800,000. So no-one was anticipating that the model would fetch a wowfactor £1 million on its own.
4. Qianlong Chinese vase The vase, which had been passed down through a Chinese family since the 1800s, was actually found to be a rare piece made for the Qianlong Emperor. It sat in a North Yorkshire home
for 45 years until discovered by an auctioneer valuing the contents of the property. And its worth? An enviable £1 million.
3
5. Apollo moon landing thruster A man’s youthful outer-space obsession proved to be out of this world. Having written more than 500 letters to NASA as a child about the Apollo Moon landings, the space agency sent him a REAL reaction control engine from one of the lunar modules, built in 1965. The aeronautical piece was valued between £5,000 and £6,000.
6. Feuilles Fougeres vase A £1 vase bought from a car boot sale in Dumfries was dumped in the attic after the plant it had been housing had died. The owner went along to the Antiques Roadshow with vase in-hand, but didn’t expect to be told that their boot sale bargain was actually a 1929 Feuilles Fougeres piece by the renowned French designer and major Art Nouveau icon Rene Lalique. It fetched £32,450.

How to cut the cost of a garden makeover
OOKING for ways to cut the cost of your garden makeover? We’ve got you covered. A new garden can be an almighty project, with so many different areas to think about - from lawn and borders to patios and plants - all these individual elements can really add up.
Research plants carefully
It can be tempting to go mad on discounted pieces to fulfil your budget garden ideas. But planning for the future and investing in products that will stand the test of time is actually a better use of money. Choose plants much more carefully, doing research into each one to check size and that it matches the conditions of your garden.
Grow your own
For those really looking to save the pennies, another top tip is to get stuck in and grow products for yourself. Of course, another way to save money in the garden is to grow most of the plants yourself from seeds or cuttings. Coordinate with friends to do the same and between you, you’ll have a garden centre’s worth of plants to share.
Use gravel or pebbles instead of paving Patio aside, if you had planned for more paving in your garden but don’t think you have the budget for it, gravel and pebbles could be a cheaper alternative. This

gravel effect can look lovely as a border or can be used to go around other features in an outdoor space - like underneath this sun lounger bench.
Think twice about landscaping
Always question if you really need lots of hard landscaping, as it’s often the most expensive element in a garden.’ There’s also the option to do it yourself, rather than hire a professional landscaper - as this will no doubt save money. There are lots of books, online guides or even short construction courses to help you along. Most building materials are easy to find at garden centres and builders merchants - just be prepared to get stuck in.
Recycle materials
The truth is, there may be no need to splash out on new pieces, as you might already have materials around your home and garden you can use for your garden makeover. It’s also worth buying second-hand items to keep costs down.
Buy once and buy well
Quality furniture made of metal or wood will last for many years if protected with covers in the winter months. Hard landscaping like patios and fences installed by a professional should last a decade, if not more. Approaching gardens in this way with a higher investment in the first year than you might like, ultimately brings you much bigger savings with each passing year.

Since sound is made up of pressure waves, it can be used to disrupt the air surrounding a fire, essentially cutting off the supply of oxygen to the fuel. At the right frequency, the fire simply dies out.
Energy storing bricks Artificial eyes
Belgian scientists have developed an artificial iris fitted to smart contact lenses that correct a number of vision disorders. And scientists are even working on wireless brain implants that bypass the eyes altogether.
Scientists have found a way to store energy in the red bricks that are used to build houses. Researchers have developed a method that can turn the cheap and widely available building material into “smart bricks” (pic, below) that can store energy like a battery.
