Ethos of the restaurant is to provide good healthy food in a relaxed Mediterranean atmosphere

ikya is a brand new authentic Mediterranean and Turkish restaurant in Flint, it has only been open a few months and is totally unique to the area . We chatted to one of the owners Des who was so welcoming and friendly and has a wealth of experience in authentic Mediterranean food , opening his ﬁrst restaurant in 2019 in Brombourgh village called The Turkish BBQ ,they have now branched out to Chester and Flint.

The restaurant is authentically decorated with lots of rustic wood fittings and furniture and a large mural of a Turkish street scene on the wall, the staff make you feel so welcome and I’m told if it’s a birthday you get the traditional Turkish fuss with the staff singing, dancing and banging the pots and pans! The menu is impressive with many Mediterranean dishes including Calamari, King prawns, Lamb shank,Guvenchi (stew),Fillet steak and Moussaka.

For our starter we wanted to try a few dishes we hadn’t tried before so decided on the sharing platter for two. Which consisted of Sucuk which is a mild spiced Turkish sausage ,Peyniri Borek which is small parcels of ﬁlo pastry containing Feta cheese and fresh parsley, plenty of grilled pitta bread and Houmous as well as fresh Tzatziki dip and side

For our main course we decided on the Mixed kebab and the Likya special. The Likya Special came with chargrilled chunks of tender marinated chicken, lamb shish, lamb kofta, a tender tasty lamb chop, grilled Turkish sausage and king prawns which were in the most delicious sauce! To add to the death by meat feast the special came with pitta bread, rice, beautiful dressed salad and a delicious garlic and mint yoghurt,unfortunately I couldn’t ﬁnish it but it was divine.
