Energy Efficiency Tip of the Month

Periodically inspect your dryer vent to ensure it is not blocked. This will save energy and may prevent a fire. Manufacturers recommend using a rigid venting material — not plastic vents that may collapse and cause blockages. Source: energy.gov

Co-opcurrents For Dixie Electric Cooperative Member-Owners August 2016

Don't Toy With Electrical Safety

Encourage your kids to always use caution when playing outdoors. They should keep a safe distance from power lines, substations, and other equipment we use to provide electricity to your home. Flying remote controlled toys and kites can be dangerous and even deadly if they come into contact with electrical equipment. Never climb trees near power lines, and do not go near a downed power line. Also, if playing games like Pokémon GO, be sure to stay away from electrical equipment such as power lines, meters, transformers, electrical boxes, and substations.

We're always looking out for you.

Let Your Voice Be Heard Submit Your Vote for Trustee Elections At the end of July 2016, we mailed packets to our member-owners that included information regarding trustee elections, a ballot, and a business reply envelope. Samples of the packet contents are shown below, and details can be found in your August issue of Alabama Living. We encourage everyone to take the time to review the packet when it is received, and, most importantly, take the time to vote. Ballots must be received at the office of the independent auditor by close of business on Aug. 31, 2016 in order to be counted.
