Energy Efficiency Tip of the Month Electric bills increase during the winter for a variety of reasons — holiday gatherings, house guests, and shorter days and longer nights. Co-opcurrents For Dixie Electric Cooperative Member-Owners December 2017
On average, eight people die in a home fire each day in the U.S. according to the National Fire Protection Association, which equates to almost 3,000 people each year. Roughly two-thirds of all home fire deaths occur in homes without working smoke alarms. Don't be a statistic. Be sure to test your smoke alarm each month by pressing the TEST button. Also, be sure to replace the batteries at least once per year. If an alarm "chirps" to indicate low batteries, they should be replaced immediately. We wish you all a very Merry, and SAFE, Christmas!
We're always looking out for you.

Beware of Utility Payment Scams this Holiday Season Utility payment scam artists continue to hit portions of Alabama, including our service area. In most instances, the caller represents himself as being with Dixie Electric Cooperative and states that the power bill has not been paid, or in some instances says that a recent payment has been returned. The caller continues to tell the member-owner that they are pending immediate disconnection of service. They encourage the member-owner to make a payment by going to a local store to purchase a prepaid credit or debit card and calling back with the card information. While we do make automated courtesy telephone calls to member-owners to alert them of delinquent bills, we will NEVER contact you attempting to collect payment directly over the phone. If you receive a call of this nature or ever have questions regarding the legitimacy of a call, do NOT provide the caller with any personal information. Instead contact our office immediately at 1-888-349-4332.Your cooperative is ALWAYS looking out for you.
