Co-opcurrents

For Dixie Electric Cooperative Member-Owners September 2017

Co-op helps member-owners budget fluctuating bills Our levelized billing program allows us to average your monthly power bill based on your current month and previous 11 months of power use. Then we bill you for that average amount, so you pay approximately the same amount every month. In order to be placed on levelized billing, your account must be current. Also, you must be in your current residence for one year before signing up for levelized billing in order for us to have 12 months of billing history to determine your monthly levelized billing amount. If you wish to be placed on levelized billing, give us a call.

We're always looking out for you.

In our September 2016 issue of Alabama Living, we shared the story of Ben Johnson, son of Dixie’s Vice President of Engineering and Operations Brandon Johnson and wife, Christi. Ben has been fighting childhood cancer since his May 13, 2014 diagnosis of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (B cell), also known as ALL. His battle has not been easy, but through it all Ben has persevered as a result of his family’s courage, faith and hope. Thankfully, after three years of treatment, Ben took his last intravenous chemotherapy on July 7, 2017. While Ben has been fortunate to overcome his battle, there are many children who are still in the fight of their lives, which is why we are hoping to help raise awareness and “Shine a Light” on childhood cancer. To help celebrate Ben’s recovery and recognize Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Dixie Electric Cooperative is Going Gold for Ben. During the month of September, we are selling t-shirts for $15 each, while supplies last, to raise money to help fight childhood cancer. All funds raised through the sell of the t-shirts will be donated in Ben’s honor to the Alabama Center for Childhood Cancer and Blood Disorders at Children’s of Alabama. More specifically, the donation will be earmarked for children’s cancer research to hopefully find a cure. If you would like to help “Shine a Light” on childhood cancer by purchasing a t-shirt, simply stop by one of our office locations between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
