Energy Fact Did you know that, according to the EPA, nearly 10 percent of the average home's electricity costs can be controlled with the flip of a switch — a light switch. You can reduce your energy costs by replacing your incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs (CFLs). CFLs use about two-thirds less energy and last up to 10 times longer than incandescent bulbs. Plus, they now come in a variety of shapes and sizes to fit any fixture in your home. For Dixie Electric Cooperative Member-Owners August 2015

We are entering that time of year typically known for producing strong hurricanes and storms. Here at Dixie Electric Cooperative, we have disaster plans in place, ready to face almost anything that comes our way. Are you prepared for a disaster? The National Weather Service recommends that all households have a disaster supply kit. The kit should include: food, water, clothes, flashlights, batteries, blankets, pillows, a first aid kit, medicines, important documents sealed in a waterproof container or bag, and tools, just to name a few. In addition, we recommend that you have a cell phone or at least one standard phone, not a cordless phone, in your home to use if the power goes out. If the power does go out, rest assured that our crews are on standby ready to restore your power as quickly as possible. Your cooperative is always looking out for you.

Let Your Voice Be Heard Submit Your Vote for the Proposed Bylaw Amendment and Trustee Elections At the end of July 2015, we mailed packets to our member-owners that included information regarding a proposed bylaw amendment and trustee elections, a ballot, and a business reply envelope. Samples of the packet contents are shown below, and details can be found in your August issue of Alabama Living. We encourage everyone to take the time to review the packet when it is received, and, most importantly, take the time to vote. Ballots must be received at the office of the independent auditor by close of business on Aug. 31, 2015 in order to be counted.

YOU CAN EARN A $5 CREDIT ON YOUR BILL!

By completing your ballot and returning it to our independent auditor, you can earn a $5 credit on your October power bill. Just mark your ballot to cast your vote on the proposed bylaw amendment and trustee elections. Then mail it to our independent auditor in the selfaddressed postage paid envelope provided. It is that simple.
