There is an open invitation to come along to view the work of the Society, with original paintings both framed and unframed available for purchase. WED NESD AY 13 MAY Arts Society North Cheshire John Francis talks about the 1930s where, against a backdrop of the Wall Street crash and a questioning of the success of the American dream, the WPA (Works Progress Administration) and the New Deal was created. The government initiatives meant employment for over eight million largely unskilled Americans and importantly 5,300 artists. Murals, painting, photography, graphic design all flourished. In this lecture we will explore some of the key artists at this time. Potential new members are welcome. Thursday 28 May Bramhall Christian Viewpoint Supper Evening Andrew and Mari Shepherd will be coming to talk to us about their work with Fountain of Peace Children’s Foundation which they have been involved with since it was first registered as a UK charity in 2006. Located in Western Uganda in a rural, poverty-stricken area, the core purpose is to rescue orphaned and abandoned babies, giving them a loving Christian home with a surrogate mum to care for them until adulthood.
