Explore the bustling streets and markets of Bagan whilst sampling delicious snacks along the way. Glide on a canoe down the narrow channels to Kaylar Village which is famous for its floating gardens. Take in the breathtaking views of Shwedagon Pagoda, encrusted with diamonds and enshrines relics of four Buddhas.

Day 1 Yangon Welcome to Myanmar! Arrive at Yangon International Airport where your private vehicle will transport you to your hotel for check-in. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at Jasmine Palace Hotel (or similar).

Day 2 Yangon – Mandalay – Mingun – Mandalay Start early with a morning flight to Mandalay. Boat down the Ayeyarwaddy river to Mingun and visit Settawya Pagoda, built in 1811. Explore the Flower Market and buy some flowers to donate in a flower offering ritual. Visit Mingun Bell, Hsinbyume Pagoda, and Shwenandaw Monastery, once the home of King Mindon. Continue to Kuthodaw Pagoda, the ‘world’s largest book’. Watch the sun set from the top of Mandalay Hill with sweeping views of Mandalay. Overnight at Ritz Grand Hotel (or similar). (B)

Day 3 Mandalay – Amarapura – Ava – Sagaing – Mandalay Observe Bronze casting workshops at Tampa Waddy between Mandalay and the ancient capital Amarapura. Buddha images, bells, gongs, tri gongs, and other figures such as nats (spirits) and famous persons are cast here. Visit iconic U-Bein bridge spanning the Taungthaman Lake, and Magandayon monastery, home to 1,000 monks. Cross the Ayeyarwaddy river and take a local ferry to visit Innwa (Ava) by horse-cart ride. You will visit Maha Aungmye Bonzan Kyaung, Bagaya Kyaung and Bagaya monastery. Cross Sagaing bridge to Sagaing Hill and continue to Soon U Ponya Shin Paya and U Min Thounzeh Pagoda. Enjoy a panoramic view of the sunset at Sagaing Hill. Overnight at Ritz Grand Hotel (or similar). (B)

Day 4 Mandalay – Bagan Before we leave Mandalay, enjoy a walking tour to Thu Ye Zay, a colourful one-of-a-kind local produce market located on the train tracks. Leave Mandalay behind to reach the terrace of Popa Mountain Resort, a perfect vantage point to enjoy views of Mt. Popa, and of Taungkalat itself. In the afternoon, drive to Bagan, visiting villages along the way. En route, shortly after passing Nyaung-U, stop for an interesting visit at “Paing” roadside shop. Enjoy a free evening in Bagan. Overnight at Royal Palace Hotel (or similar). (B)

Day 5 Bagan Today’s walking tour starts with a visit to the most significant pagodas and temples of Bagan. Stop at a popular lacquerware workshop producing this most famous of Bagan handicrafts. In the late afternoon, enjoy a horse-cart ride to a place where you can enjoy magnificent views over Bagan’s vast temple area around sunset time. Overnight in at Royal Palace Hotel (or similar). (B)

Day 6 Bagan – Heho – Inle Lake After breakfast, transfer to Nyaung U airport for your flight to Heho, and then to your hotel for check-in. Visit Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. In the afternoon, stop at several workshops on and around the lake such as a cheroot (Burmese cigar)-making workshop and a boatbuilding workshop. Finally, stop at Inn Paw Khon village and visit one of the many silk & lotus weaving workshops. Overnight in Inle at Nyaung Shwe City Hotel (or similar). (B)

Day 7 Inle Lake – Hidden Indein Glide through narrow channels in a canoe and tour Kaylar village in the middle part of Inle Lake, famous for its floating gardens where villagers mainly live on fishing and farming. Ride the long tail boat to visit Nga Phe Kyaung, a monastery famous for its extensive collection of Buddha images made of different materials, and in various styles and sizes. In the afternoon, travel by long-tail boat to the western shore of the lake to Indein jetty and visit the beautiful Alaung Sitthou area (Indein Temple Complex). Take time to explore the stupa complex itself and take some exquisite photos of this unusual place. Overnight at Nyaung Shwe City Hotel (or similar). (B)

Day 8 Heho – Yangon After breakfast, transfer to Heho airport for your flight back to Yangon and then to your hotel for check-in. Visit Bogyoke Aung San (Scott) Market. Visit the heart of downtown and enjoy a leisurely walk through the best of colonial Yangon. End up at bustling Chinatown with its many shops and stalls offering every commodity one can imagine. Visit the iconic, unforgettable Shwedagon Pagoda with its golden stupas, monks, and local worshipers. Return to your hotel in the afternoon and enjoy a free evening. Overnight at Jasmine Palace Hotel (or similar). (BD)
