Revamping Employee
Work ow!
Let’s walk down to history! pecifically into the times when the factory system
S was established. An employee who walked into a factory had to manually register the attendance, had to work for eighteen hours straight, and could barely possibly meet hand-to-mouth economy. The same employee felt devalued when s/he was evaluated only on the basis of products produced and not on the hours of labor infused!
What do you see?
If you ask my opinion, I will opine that “Evaluating an employee on the end results rather than the infused human labor was unjust at the end of organizational culture.” With such a scenario of the industrial society, there were many questions raised and theories built. But one of the most critical results of this phenomenon has been the alienation of an employee in terms of alienation from work, alienation from the produce, alienation from the fellow workforce, and alienation from the employer too!
But gradually, with the emergence of multinational corporations, the industrial society turned into a more technologically advanced and multiculturally talented employee pool. This was not only possible because of the internet revolution but also with the critical research on the organizational culture, empathy towards employee community, and healthy relations between the employee and employer!
Known for such agile development in the industry workforce policy, entrepreneurs have been scouting the technological marvels, blending with workflow management, and facilitating a justified system that values the workforce for its commendable services and compensates the employee pool for its dedicated labor in terms of its work time.
These solutions were introduced by many tech giants in the 90s era. However, it had been difficult for major market segments to adapt to this technological ease of employee time tracking. Today, the companies that are facilitating the
business community with time tracking solutions along with Human Resource management tools have made it to the top of the leaderboard.
In an endeavor to find such technology marvels that could track employee work time and revamp organizational culture by the employee tracking system, we came up with our new edition, “10 Best Time Tracking Solution Providers to Watch.”
While you flip through the pages, ensure to read the industry insights and articles opined by our in-house editorial team.
I hope you have a happy read!
,In technological advancement, we found time tracking solutions, and as we move ahead with it, time tracking solutions will prove to be a future-proof technology driving the business world into the future.

Story
Your Workforce Management in the Right Hands 10 Best Time Tracking Solu on Providers to WatchAAs a global pandemic wanes on and businesses deal with the aftermath of “The Great Resignation,” one thing has been made clear: Employees are the heart of an organization. And if you want to keep your staff, you need to make them feel like it.
From simplifying communication to giving transparency into work schedules and payments, Deputy empowers individuals to manage their own work-life schedule from the palm of their hand. That's why more than 300,000 workplaces use Deputy to streamline scheduling and simplify time and attendance.
Foundational Values
Creating a successful business means putting the people first. But it goes beyond just creating schedules and getting the employees paid. It's not something one can do with pen and paper—or an Excel file. It's a way of living, of running the business.
This felt even more apparent in the midst of a pandemic when nothing was certain, business plans were changing daily, and employees were required to be more flexible than ever before at work and in their home lives.
Workplaces are complex. That's why Deputy's mission is simple: Simplify shift work. So, the team Deputy created their values as the framework for how they live at Deputy.
How they support their customers, how they make decisions, how they behave, and how they hire-
• Clock in for the customer: The customer matters. It's why the company is passionate about showing up, with the intention to deliver value every day.
• Listen to learn: Deputy seeks diverse ideas, perspectives, and experiences because no person has all the answers. It's how they create meaningful outcomes.
• Stronger together: The Deputy's community succeeds with mutual respect and collaboration. Everyone has a

key part to play in building the Deputy legacy.
• Lead with integrity: The people at Deputy assume good intent, stand up for what's right, and help teammates to do the same.
• Own your shift: They take the lead and deliver what matters. They own their results, celebrate the wins, and are constantly improving.
Holistic Services at the Palm of the Hand
Deputy helps business owners and managers with all the tasks required to manage a thriving, efficient, and engaged team. That includes scheduling staff to budget, managing wage and compliance requirements, ensuring accurate payroll, and creating an amazing employee experience.
Using artificial intelligence, managers can predict how many employees they need across different roles, then schedule the right people at the right times to deliver the
best service at optimal cost. On top of that, accurate, digital timesheets can verify clock-in times and integrate with leading payroll, POS, and HR systems, so staff is paid correctly and on time.
And because the company cares about the full experience—for both managers and employees—it has created an app that allows employees to swap shifts and find a replacement from the palm of their hand, so no shift is left unfilled. In fact, that's why brands like Patagonia, Ace Hardware, and more than 300,000 businesses use Deputy to help their teams save time, get focused, and work efficiently together.
An Ardent Advocate of Workforce Management
Ashik Ahmed and his Co-founder , Steve Shelley, founded Deputy in 2008 to simplify shift work to help make every other entrepreneur successful. They decided to call the
product 'Deputy' with the idea that it could be a second-incharge to the business owner. Over the years, they realized the company isn't only the second-in-charge to the business owners. Rather, it is also second in charge of the millions of hourly workers around the world.
Deputy makes their life simpler by removing clutter and mundane. Deputy lets them thrive. And the biggest difference Ashik, through Deputy, has made to business owners' lives is that Deputy improves the lives of their team. A regular contributor to Forbes magazine, Ashik is also an expert on the subjects of workforce management, HR tech, machine learning, linear optimization, and crypto.
Ashik spent his career devoted to building technologies that create better and more efficient organizations. He believes that it is essential to focus on potential customers of a company, their pain points, and what do they care about. Hence, communicating with customers is very important for any company to understand what would make their lives better.
Technology Augmenting Capabilities
AI and Machine Learning capabilities have accelerated Deputy's ability to create intelligent scheduling solutions that solve pain points for business owners and managers. The team uses technology to learn the patterns of behavior of workers, workplaces, and regulators in order to understand insights to deliver specific goals.
With Deputy's auto-scheduling tools, businesses can craft the perfect schedule while reducing unnecessary wage costs with accurate labor demand forecasts.
The Pandemic Tale
Many businesses have had to scale up and down or pivot and scale quickly. This reminded the team that change and adaptability are essential parts of survival in life and business.
Deputy empowers individuals to manage their own work-life schedule from the palm of their hand.
Appreciation of Excellence
“Our old workforce solu on was limited. We had to use mul ple applica ons to keep everything streamlined and o en had to deal with data problems and crashing applica ons. We desired a simpler, trustworthy, all-in-one mobile solu on that would work across loca ons.” – Hitesh Sanghvi, Masala Wok, Managing Partner
“Deputy makes it even easier by sugges ng who to reach out to for open shi s based on loca on and availability. My employees feel more empowered by being in charge of their schedules.”
– Ana Claudia Lopez, Olivia Macaron, Founder and Owner
“The amount of me we spent on building schedules has dropped by two-thirds. It used to be an all-day event with trying to get all the Excel sheets together and distribute the schedule. Now, it only takes me about 20 minutes! Having an integrated mesheet and scheduling feature was the biggest me saver for us.” – Bobby Heuser, Heuser ACE Hardware, Owner.
“Deputy has freed up my me tremendously! It just takes a few minutes now to undertake all my administra ve tasks, and the amount of me I have saved is just mindblowing.” – Kate Gillenwater, Optometric Care Associates, Corporate Manager.
Ashik said, “At Deputy, we're fortunate that we're able to work remotely—to connect with each other through video calls, emails, and other communication tools. But we know that most of our customers and their teams were going in-
So, Deputy pivoted its strategy to launch new tools to help businesses navigate the unexpected moments and adapt. Whether they were going into the same brick and mortar building or driving around to multiple locations, the team felt it was their duty to make their clock in and workspace as spacious as possible.
For example, the team created Touchless Clock-In to give workers a faster, more hygienic way to clock in through facial recognition. Pre-populated Pre-shift Questions help ensure employees are healthy before shifts by allowing managers to ask questions about how the staff is feeling or what their temperature is prior to clocking in. And Shift Swap allows employees to find a suitable replacement if they can't work an assigned shift. But it doesn't stop there. Deputy continues to adapt and change to support what the wider community needs.
Envisaging a Better Future
It's been an exciting 13 years for team Deputy, and they will continue to invest heavily in their product and technology in 2022 to deliver best-in-class solutions for their customers. Deputy will also scale up its go-to-market functions, focusing on the US market specifically.
In 2022, the management is focused on enhancing their offerings to help supercharge the end-to-end workforce management experience – no matter the size of a customer's business and streamline operations even further.

Solving Organization's Time and Expense Management Challenges
Adopting a flexible work culture enables organizations to save resources and hire the best talent across the globe. A Gartner survey reveals that 10,000 digital workers from the U.S., Europe, and APAC observed that workers are likely to feel the flexibility provided by organizations is the key factor behind their improved productivity.
Due to such benefits, enterprises worldwide are more readily adopting remote, hybrid, and freelance work cultures. To be able to offer agile work options, organizations must have modern technology solutions to track employees' working hours, expenses, and other activities remotely.
The Expert Leader
Chris Harley is the DATABASICS VP of Sales, but he wears many hats. Chris has over 20 years of experience in the Time and Expense industry and has always brought a customer-first approach to his conversa ons.
First and foremost, he ensures that a product can fit a company's needs and not the other way around. With this approach, he has gained a vast array of knowledge in mul ple industries around the nuances of their business processes, including the CRE space.
Chris's knowledge comes from conduc ng dayto-day demos demonstra ng the benefits of customer-first me-tracking solu ons, but also from being in the world of so ware for several decades.
DATABASICS redefines easy workflow with its cloudbased timesheet and facilitates futureproof management solutions. A single system you can use across your enterprise for salaried and hourly employees, direct and indirect, no matter where they are and what they do.
Users can enter hours or clock in and out, then select the projects, grants, and other codes that apply to them. They can see their up-to-date leave balances and even request time-off, barely lifting a finger.
Chris highlights, “What's different about DATABASICS is the fact that while we've made it simple for the whole team, there's a lot of heavy lifting done behind the scenes.”
Satisfying Customers Consistently
Not every day, most software solution providers hear words of thanks, least of all from their customers. That's not true at DATABASICS. Its team hears daily positive feedback from customers about receiving excellent service.
Providing companies of today with an integrated cloudbased solution to track employees' time and expenses is DATABASICS
Based in Reston, Virginia, DATABASICS has decades of expertise in solving time and expense management challenges for organizations. It combines deep expertise, next-gen technology, and a focus on each customer's unique needs.
DATABASICS is guided by an experienced and standout leader, Chris Harley. As the VP of Sales, he makes sure that customer satisfaction is a priority in the everyday operation of the firm.
Let's get to know the specialties and insights of DATABASICS.
Integrated Time and Expense Tracking Solution
DATABASICS understands how critical it is to keep track of time in today's business world-especially with a workforce that's more dispersed and mobile than ever before.
In an industry of timesheet vendors that put the focus on making the C-suite happy, DATABASICS saw a gap in the market when it came to pleasing every member of the team. DATABASICS does it by training every employee to be a problem solver, whether that's configuring solutions in the software (the development team) or even answering support questions via the website chat or social media (the sales and marketing teams).
Chris emphasizes that “As a result, DATABASICS is consistently recognized for best-in-industry service. It shows in our reviews (4.9/5 stars on Capterra) and in feedback from customers every day.”
Keeping Up to Date with Technology
The DATABASICS team is focused on making the best solution for the everyday needs of client organizations. Chris reveals that “We call ourselves DATABASICS because we are about the BASICS, the BASICS of what our clients need to realize the full potential of their time tracking system.”
“So, we aren't about 'good enough' solutions. We are here to help clients get the most from these strategic business processes. What we have learned from our deep experience in employee reporting is that this is what it takes—there aren't any shortcuts.”
10 Best Time Tracking Solu on Providers to WatchDATABASICS adapts to ever-changing and ever-varied business needs by saying “yes” to client requirements. It does so by prioritizing the complete customer experience, from sales through implementation and into a years-long partnership, and then leading with expertise in its customer relationships.
The clients of the company get a solution that has been finetuned by working with clients for over two decades. “When we address items like the ease of use, this covers all individuals who interact with the solution. So, clients will see that not only do the end-users have a highly intuitive, streamlined interface, but the needs of approvers and administrators are also addressed,” states Chris.
The Customer Experience provided by DATABASICS spans more than end-user data entry, critical as that may be. Basically, it's focused on why clients decided to automate in the first place.
Chris mentions, “We listen. We work hard to solve problems. And that's where we are focused and how we stay at the top of the line when it comes to adapting (and creating) advanced time tracking technologies.”
Words of Guidance
The tech industry is one of the most in-demand industries. The number of entrepreneurs who are looking to come up with pathbreaking technology solutions for every other industry is also higher.
We questioned Chris, what advice he would like to give to budding tech entrepreneurs, to which he replied, “Our

“The BASICS, such as saying yes to client requirements, focusing on the complete customer experience, and keeping our expertise upfront in our relationships, are the foundation of everything we do.”
“They embody our experience and ensure the quality of the client's experience with us. Listen and reply with solutions.”
Envisioning the Future
DATABASICS is driven by a passion for simplifying automated time tracking for the hybrid workforce. The time tracking landscape is moving toward simplification and automation. As artificial intelligence (AI) becomes more intelligent and less artificial, tracking time could be as easy as someone saying that they're starting their work and then saying that they're finished.
The company already has automated technology that uses geo-location to start and stop work and to ensure that work is only being done in a particular location (which is particularly helpful in the construction and field services industries), so this technology isn't far off. DATABASICS also uses data-driven self-adjusting algorithms, which improve the end user's experience by automatically inputting the most frequently used data. Hence, they just have to click “OK” and move on.
The team of DATABASICS is also working on what it calls an “approval assistant,” which will automate the approval of regular timesheets, leaving the manager to focus on unusual situations. The company also sees the need to integrate timesheets and expense reports in a way that helps companies improve their timesheet submission rates for
Awards and Recognition
employees. For example, if someone wants an expense report reimbursement, they won't be approved until their timesheet is filled out.
Speaking about these improvement plans, Chris says, “The goal is to motivate everyone on the whole team to do their part by making data integrated and automated. ” “In the end, we plan to continue growing and innovating, even as the workforces of our clients and of our own teams move to hybrid workplaces. We now have employees all around the world, so we're able to provide customer support for all time zones.”

CConsider a future in which AI, data analytics, and machine learning are fully integrated into professional services firms. Large service organizations have outgrown their monolithic legacy systems and created fully-digitized ecosystems that span the professional services value chain. Service firms have redefined a coherent ecosystem for time tracking by implementing a unified platform to achieve a single source of truth for employee billable time after eliminating multiple disparate systems.
Cloud-first, purpose-built time tracking platforms have become the norm in the hybrid workplace culture, with more revenue-driven employees and higher billable utilization. The platform economy’s next-generation operating model has given large service organizations newfound speed, agility, security, efficiency, and precision for their digital business models.
Employees have been promoted to “super workers,” who use real-time intelligent data to solve everyday problems. They are not distracted by manual administrative tasks anymore, such as timesheet filling, because AI automation has taken over those responsibilities. Instead, they are increasing project profitability by maximizing billable time, delivering projects on time and on budget, providing the highest level of customer satisfaction, and, ultimately, accomplishing more in less time. Predictive analytics, open APIs, machine learning, and true AI provide unprecedented insight to these ‘super workers.’All of this is not far away and is already taking place.
Stepping into the Hybrid Digital Era
To remain relevant in a very competitive marketplace, professional services firms must upgrade their technological
capabilities and equip their workforce with the most up-todate modern tools. When dealing with a fragmented ecosystem, enabling those changes becomes difficult.
Employees end up wasting countless hours attempting to manage and reconcile data spread across multiple systems. Multiple systems invariably result in multiple siloed databases that cannot or do not effectively mesh with one another, limiting your ability to share relevant information quickly and resulting in a failure of departmental or team coordination. Overall, there is an increase in inconsistent and error-prone data that serves no purpose other than to irritate employees.
To get out of this quagmire, businesses are increasingly turning to cloud-based platforms. The modern employee is accustomed to streamlined and efficient processes, which presents an opportunity for organizations to invest in platforms that streamline day-to-day operations and reduce time spent on labor-intensive tasks. A services firm whose business processes are supported at various levels by an integrated cloud-based system will clearly benefit from a competitive advantage by accurately capturing its key revenue source: billable time. Here are a few of the reasons:
Automated time-tracking process: Traditional manual methods of time tracking create numerous opportunities for errors and inconsistencies, all of which are eliminated by introducing automation.
Real-time visibility: Because of the previously mentioned automation, it is now possible to gain real-time visibility into all data, enabling agile management processes. As warning signs become more visible, identifying opportunities for improvement and optimization becomes easier.
Billable time maximization: The greatest boost to billable time comes from the optimization of processes and resource allocation made possible by real-time visibility into time data.
Improved employee experience: As the cloud platform automates, employees are liberated from the monotony of filling out timesheets, allowing them to focus on billable tasks. Employees no longer have to deal with disparate interfaces or learn new tools just to manage timesheets.
Reduce the time to revenue: Time data can be integrated into billing systems using a cloud platform to automate invoicing. Increased accuracy leads to faster and more accurate billing, which allows invoices to be processed and sent out the door more quickly, resulting in a shorter timeto-revenue process.
Increased transparency, global governance, and compliance: Cloud platforms increase data transparency while simplifying compliance and governance concerns.
Through approval workflows and validation rules, every entry and edit is automatically documented and verified.
Pay rules and labor laws can be easily applied across the global workforce, resulting in full compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
Changing the Game with Time Tracking
Enterprises are moving to cloud-based time tracking not only to gain a competitive advantage but also to provide their stakeholders with a future-ready ecosystem. Improving employee experience through accurate project data for time tracking is a win-win for businesses looking to thrive in a hybrid digital workplace. One can embark on their digital transformation journey in order to streamline processes, increase operational efficiency and productivity, reduce billing cycles and revenue leakage, and improve cash flow and profitability.
Investing in cloud-time tracking checks all of those boxes while also enabling superior capabilities in all aspects of project management and operational agility, transforming your time into a strategic asset.
- Vishal GolekarTime and Workforce Management at Your Finger ps Virtually
Time tracking and productivity are two major aspects that make work simple. Even the management prefers that these aspects work excellently in the organization. Keeping track of these two has changed from 'pen and paper' to 'virtual data' in the past few decades.
In this digital era, many software help collect data and make strategies to perform well as an organization. However, putting them to use is not very convenient, and only a few professionals can operate them. To address these issues, Hubstaff was established. Hubstaff provides a software suite of products according to the usage or requirements of their clients.
With more than 10,000 teams across the world and over 40,000 live customers, they are developing productivity and workforce management through their software suites.
Jared Brown, Co-founder, and CEO of Hubstaff founded the solutions to make workforce management smooth to get quality outcomes. The team of Hubstaff keeps upgrading themselves to be one step ahead in the market.
Recently, Insights Success had a conversation with Jared to know about the idea of making excellent software and how he improves the user interface (UI) to be more understandable.
Below are the highlights of the interview:
Please brief our audience about Hubstaff, its USPs, and how it is currently positioned as one of the most reliable companies in the time-tracking solutions space.
Hubstaff is a complete workforce management solution built around core time tracking and productivity features. Since 2012, teams of all sizes across virtually every industry have used Hubstaff to track time, create timesheets,

Tell us more about Hubstaff and how its distinct offerings are impacting the industry and its clients. What makes Hubstaff stand apart from the competition?
Teams of all sizes and verticals find various solutions within the Hubstaff software suite of products.
As brick-and-mortar offices transitioned suddenly to remote work, they found Hubstaff as a way to keep a pulse on the team and manage their time and workload.
Hubstaff's powerful software suite has helped entrepreneurs launch and grow businesses globally, with employees from around the world by providing proof-of-work features and payroll that works for everyone.
Businesses and managers with field teams utilize Hubstaff's unique job sites feature to automate clock-ins and outs of

Aside from these features, we also believe that the three pillars Hubstaff was built on set us apart in a fundamental way. The team here at Hubstaff takes pride in our core values of Transparency, Access, and Control. Employees have access to all their data; our software does not run in the background unknowingly and collect information the team member cannot access about their work.
Jared, please tell our readers about you, your journey, and how you have helped raise Hubstaff to the heights of prominence it is at today.
I have always been interested in tech startups. Growing up, I had a lot of ideas for new businesses. But since I couldn't afford to hire developers, I taught myself how to program and design web pages in high school. Once I graduated, I attended Purdue University and received a bachelor's degree in computer science. After I got my degree, I briefly tried my hand at starting a business. It developed inventory management software. But I quickly realized I needed to get some experience at other successful companies. I worked for two startups and freelanced for a few clients over the next several years.

they needed to take some time off or shift around their typical work schedule.
We facilitated remote retreats so the entire company could shut work down and enjoy the day(s) with our work friends with scavenger hunts, cooking classes, video games, and wellness talks with guest speakers. We became a closer and more compassionate team.
As an established industry leader, what would be your advice to the budding entrepreneurs and enthusiasts aspiring to venture into the technology sectors?
With those experiences under my belt, I felt confident that I was ready to try starting a business again. That is when my Co-founder approached me, and we started Hubstaff. I believe we have been successful because of the experience we both brought to the table. That, coupled with our relentless drive to iterate on the software and keep adding features to it, got us to where we are today.
Being an experienced leader, share your opinion on how advanced technologies have impacted the need for time tracking technologies and software.
It is no secret that software is eating the world. Functions that were previously done with pen and paper are moving into the digital era. This means that companies are rapidly adopting specialized software for just about every aspect of their business functions. Time tracking and workforce management software are at the heart of this. Companies are waking up to the need to streamline their management processes and looking for insights into their workforces.
What efforts did you take during the pandemic to sustain operations and ensure the safety of your team at the same time?
Hubstaff has been a fully remote company since day one, and we use the tools we build every day to manage projects and our team. We already had the infrastructure in place for Hubstaffers to continue working during quarantine from the safety of their homes.
However, just like millions of others, many of us were struggling with pandemic-driven anxiety, challenged with balancing children at home when schools closed, and some of us got the virus. So, to help the team cope with these emotional stresses, we found it even more crucial to provide a supportive environment where no one felt threatened if
My number one piece of advice is not to get married to your first idea. Come up with a list of concepts and the criteria by which you plan to evaluate them. Make them prove their merits to you. Because once you pick one, you are going to be committed to it. There is a high opportunity cost to picking a bad idea. So, it is very important to base your decision on data and a checklist of criteria.
My second point of advice would be to start your business in your twenties. Spend a few years building up your experience after college. But don't delay starting your business for too long. When you are young, you have a lot of time and energy. You can also take bigger risks. Use that as a competitive advantage.
How do you envision scaling Hubstaff's services in 2022 and beyond?
The Hubstaff team is working on exciting projects to level up our productivity and build new ones in 2022 and beyond. Business owners and managers will get actionable insights from the data collected automatically, and they'll be able to see industry and role benchmarks to make more informed managerial decisions.
For 2023, we have ideas we're baking out on how to measure and improve employee wellness using feedback mechanisms and other work-wellbeing gauges within the apps.

Building an Ethical Digital World
Quick: What is a suitable solution made of?
Answer: Agile mindset and continuous improvement. n our ever-changing world, the continuous
I improvement and speed of implementing change make a difference. Some changes we can foresee and predict based on trends, like changes in technology, climate, or population. Some changes we do not see coming like COVID did two years ago or the war in Ukraine. No matter the change we face, the ones who are used to the change cope better than the others. The best competitive advantages a company can have are the ability to face change and cooperate.
What are the beliefs behind the agile mindset that, in our experience, make our customers succeed?
Shortly put, they focus on what works, not only on doing things right. Here is the winning recipe.
The first step is to envision the customer experience, not only how the company will look in the future.
Secondly, include the customers in your continuous improvement. Validate often if what you are offering is what is needed.
Thirdly, pay attention to capability building as much as process and product management. Make sure that the team can improve its skills and cooperation because that will make them more effective.
Fourthly, embrace continuous change and improvement—experiment to support decisions. Do a lot of controlled experiments that allow you to learn. Make sure you learn from what you did well and learn from things that did not go so well. Act on the decision and improve.
Fifthly, focus on value-adding activities and limiting what needs to be achieved. This is quite different decision-
making compared to cost-efficiency-driven decisions – we do not need everything in a year; we need the best we can do by next week.

Employees are more focused on their tasks when they are aware that they must report on time. Everyone is now making better use of their time, which increases productivity. Employees understand that they are accountable for their actions because this type of software monitors working hours. Time tracking software acts as a digital supervisor to keep everyone punctual.

Time tracking software shows teams how long it takes to complete tasks. Teams can calculate how they should progress on projects in this manner. Managers can use the app to better prioritize future projects based on team capacity. Furthermore, tracking tools can summarise all project information to assist one in managing costs and providing improvements. These apps tell how many hours each person in charge of a project has spent on a task, allowing one to plan their time in a more realistic manner. Another advantage of time management software is that it allows one to keep track of all meetings, projects, and feedback. This enables one to easily analyze the workflow and identify gaps.
Easy Budget Tracking

A World Class, Low Cost Virtual Time Tracking Solu on
Time is the most important thing when it comes to working. Every business likes to track its working hours to have authentic records for billing, employee payroll, and various other purposes.
Many organizations use manual card scanning, punching machines, or other similar methods to record working hours. All of these require employees to be present at the office location to register their presence. Such manual solutions are not as useful when it comes to adopting today's flexible office work culture. Having a modern online time tracking facility is the best solution for tracking logins, logoffs, and over time effectively.
To do away with manual tracking of logging hours, Timesheets.com, a flexible SaaS solution, came into existence.
Founded in 2004 by Joel Slatis ( CEO), Timesheets has a user-friendly and mobile-friendly interface. This is the most cost-effective time-tracking solution for organizations that want to save on payroll costs or increase the efficiency of billing process. Along with time tracking, its services can also be utilized for daily expense tracking, scheduling, and other HR-related activities.
Knowing such technological marvels of Timesheets.com, we at Insights Success interviewed Joel to learn about the company's journey of eighteen-plus years of efficiently serving thousands of clients across the globe.
Below are the excerpts from the interview:
Please brief our audience about your enterprise, its USPs, and how it is currently positioned as one of the most reliable companies in the time-tracking solutions space.
Timesheets.com is one of the oldest web-based time tracking companies in the country. Founded in the early days of online commerce, we have grown to become a provider for organizations around the world. Our product
features two different timesheets. Our hourly timesheet is designed for the nonexempt worker who punches a clock to record time, usually for payroll. The timesheet keeps track of time off and has flexible rules for calculating overtime. Our project timesheet is designed for billable time tracking or tracking time for job costing.
Timesheets.com is also able to track day-to-day finances, including reimbursable expenses, bonuses, commissions, and mileage. Timesheets.com has native employee scheduling functions and a small business HR suite. Our key selling points are the unique ways we offer clients to track time, our small-business-like approach to client services, and our low cost. Also, later this year, we will be offering a fully embedded payroll service powered by Gusto. Timesheets.com has nearly 20 years of online time tracking experience and thousands of paying clients.
Tell us more about your company and how its distinct offerings are impacting the industry and its clients. What makes your company stand apart from the competition?
Every company says they take customer service seriously, but our company has endeavored to really live up to that promise. For instance, a client starting a support chat via their account can expect a reply from one of our representatives within 45 seconds. Similarly, incoming phone calls to our 800 number are usually answered within four rings by a live representative. This kind of customer service leads to better outcomes for both parties.
In addition to providing truly excellent customer service, Timesheets.com is highly competitive due to our native feature set, which is perfect for small businesses. We have time tracking, expense tracking, scheduling, and HR, and soon we will be offering payroll. This mix of appealing features drives adoption while reducing churn.
Timesheets.com provides business consumers with a single vendor option that eliminates the need to cobble together various expensive software service packages from independent vendors.
Founded in the early days of online commerce, we have grown to become a provider for organiza ons around the world.

My advice is to evaluate your abilities carefully. If you plan to start a business, make sure you have a clear vision for how you will get from point A to point B. If there are gaps in your knowledge or ability, then you will need to carefully assess if your goals are achievable before you start work.
On the other hand, if you have a clear vision of the path to completing your objectives, you might be on the right track. It's critically important to know that you are able to do something before you start. Being unsure of yourself as you begin a gamble of this magnitude is not necessarily going to guarantee failure, but it's also not the best place to be.
My second piece of advice is something that was told to me by a mentor when I became an entrepreneur which I will
What Clients Are Saying
Being an experienced leader, share your opinion on how the adoption of advanced technologies has impacted the need for time-tracking technologies and software.
In the early days of time tracking, the decision was typically between old-fashioned paper and switching to the new paradigm of online time tracking. It was a tough sell for many businesses, who never gave much thought to time tracking beyond buying a punch machine and the bulk boxes of paper timesheets to use with it.
Over the years, time tracking became more accepted as a normal monthly business expense and the market grew. Then integrations and partnerships caught fire, and suddenly terms like 'API' and 'tech stack' became buzzwords. Many businesses – even the small ones – began looking to consolidate services, and the equation changed from 'paper vs online' to 'this service vs that service', usually based on the feature set.
Some companies, like Timesheets.com, chose to make or embed software while the majority drifted towards software integrations. Tracking time today is still very similar to time tracking in the 1970s. What's changed is the method, and more recently, the ability to electronically send your time tracking data directly to where it needs to go.
As an established industry leader, what would be your advice to the budding entrepreneurs and enthusiasts aspiring to venture into the technology sectors?
“Our experience today, with my bookkeeper and myself working in tandem with our account manager was really really impressive. You are very lucky to have someone who has such a deep knowledge of your product and QuickBooks!! We spent a great deal of me with him, and he was always pa ent always a en ve, and made us feel very taken care of as we went through a very long and detailed hands-on demo. He kept at it figuring out crea ve solu on a er crea ve solu on! Totally first-rate customer service!!”
“We find your product to be an invaluable tool for what we do and as someone who is on it daily and has seen dozens of products like it, I am always blown away by the way Timesheets.com can capture simplicity and complexity in a single product.”

share now: Whatever you choose to do, do it fast. You will be far more successful in business if you are accomplishing things quickly. You will fail quicker, but you will also succeed quicker too, and over your career, you will accomplish far more. So, when you start something, work at it tirelessly until it's done.
How do you envision scaling your company's services in 2022 and beyond?
Timesheets.com is well-positioned for growth with no debt, plenty of cash on hand, and a product expansion roadmap that will appeal to the contemporary marketplace, including the addition of a fully embedded payroll.
Timesheets.com will also be available in Spanish soon. We plan to continue expanding into peripheral markets with the addition of services that are natural verticals to our core products.
The market is maturing, and so we plan to have a mature product that matches the current client mindset with respect to what they are looking for in a service. For many businesses, that's integrations, but we are focused on building native functionality into our core features to attract and keep clients.
